I hope you guys like Invisible Stalkers.
Ah, so you cast the spell, then instead of getting the effect right away, you get it on an attack. And it there until the creature dies. That's pretty cool.
Imagine a Cipher instant. You can play it during declare blockers after one of your guys gets through, then Cipher on it to get it again once damage resolves!
2U would be viable, 3U only if it was instant.Get ready for esper control as far as they eye can see.
Seriously, how expensive will "Draw a card, Cipher" have to be to not get it turned into Curiousity with hexproof?
I'd play the hell out of it a 2U. I'd think about it at 3U.

Knowing WOTC, 3UU. Trololololol.
Free spells as a guild mechanic, are you fucking kidding me, Wizards?
Boros got the worst mechanic again by a mile. It's really not even a mechanic.Man... all the other guild abilities got shit on. That Dimir ability is nuts. Does the card go away after the Cipher ability registers?
Also, Alchemist's Refuge![]()

WTF cipher. I thought it was going to read "player may cast a copy of that encoded spell by paying it's original mana cost" or something like that. I never ever expected it to be free. That seems way too easy to hugely abuse.
Thinking about it, I wouldn't be surprised if all the spells with cipher are mid to low level spells. No take an extra turn or anything like that. Just stuff like "destroy a tapped creature" or "return a creature to it's owners hand".
Quick question: Say I bring a creature out that can detain, I choose a target and detain it. Now I use a cloudshift on that creature to retrigger detain, does that break the original detain on the original target, or am I able to detain two targets this way? Does detain stay independent of the creature who performed it basically is what I'm asking...
So, I've just returned to Magic...
Quick question for those in the know, if I want to get some previous era cards for Modern play what would be the most cost efficient method? I mean I could buy a "bulk" of garbage cards I guess but anything worth having I don't think will be in those.

I'm sure some of the modern guys here would be happy to help as well. I only really play standard, so my aid ends at providing resources like above.
Depends on what you mean, do you just want old cards to play with friends with our you want a competitive modern deck?
Is star city games ever cheap?
10th on breakers at the Philly PTQ after some really rough beats.![]()
It's Modern season noob! That's rough dude, so close. Still playing BR aggro or switched over to something else?
I don't really get the love for the Dimir keyword until we see some more cards with it. It could be nuts sure, but they know that so the cards will most likely be overcosted or effects no one wants.
Plus I like playing UB/Esper control decks with the only creatures really being Lingering Souls / Snapcaster Mage. This mechanic seems more suited to those stupid ass Hexproof decks with Geist and Invisible Stalker.
So after a lot of years of not playing i decided to build a casual deck to play against some friends. It doesnt need to be tournament legal or even t2 for that matter.
Im planning on building a (relative cheap) UB underworld dreams deck, i have a few cards on the decklist already, but maybe someone here has an idea on what to add (or change the amount of certain type cards)
Lands: (24)
10x Swamp
8x Island
2x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4x Underground river (or drowned catacomb)
Spells:
4x Underworld dreams
4x Wheel and Deal
4x Dark ritual
4x Demonic Tutor
...more to add? (maybe creature destroying like terror or smth)
Artifacts:
4x Howling mine
2x Font of Mythos
1x Memory jar (but maybe thats to lame?)
?x Teferi's puzzle box
Creatures:
?x Kami of the crescent moon (but im not sure if its any good?)
I know there is a combination of megrim also with this deck, but im not sure wich version works best.
Thanks for looking![]()
