New vita owner here, hi ^^.

Just a quick question, does the Vita have to 'load' the game cart everytime I turn it on? I have Lumines in and everytime I turn my vita on it pops up for 5 seconds doing something for it before I can start using the vita. Just a bit annoying =/ surely it could do it in the backgrounnd or if I actually tap to play the game.

Yes, if you are switching your Vita off completely, then every time you boot it up it will have to go through that short process. Really, you shouldn't be switching your Vita off completely, there's almost no need to. Just put it on standby, the battery holds up pretty well. And - welcome to the club/community/brotherhood!

Wipeout and LBP probably won't get played again til I get my 32gb memory card though.

Anyone know what the hell is going on with the EU store? I mean, we always hear complaints about the US store but frankly I'm very disappointed with the EU sales. And we got no update this week.

The blog stated next update is second week of Jan for EU and that's when the Vita sales would go live, no idea what's in it though. Apparently they couldn't get things organised in time for it to go live prior to Xmas....

I'll still believe it when I see it.

yes,sleep mode is enough, just turn off the Wifi so it don't kill the battery during no use time.

See, mine always has to reconnect after I come out of standby, but only recently I discovered there was a 'disable WiFi when on standby' setting in the 'Settings' app. Didn't quite understand what the difference was.

yeah $20 is way too much (2010 game) many of the PSP games actually are overpriced too(posted a list few days ago)I want to replace my UMD collection but the prices -and other things- just don't help,Sony (and other publishers) need to lower the prices for PSP games.

So can anyone confirm that psp powerstone works in the eu?

I disagree on Tomb Raider, although this game would badly need texture filtering, but I'd also add Blood Omen and Soul Reaver to your list for starters.

Yeah my list isn't close to being a complete one. Some games like Spyro I'd probably recommend right away but I haven't played em on handhelds yet so I didn't. Tomb Raider just feels really cluncky to me and the graphics are like, really blocky. Well Silent Hill is perhaps even worse but I feel the athmosphere more than makes up for it. It may be that Tomb Raider anniversary spoiled me for the original but then again Resident Evil Remake or Twin Snakes (lol) didn't. So surely I can 100% see how some still would love the original but personally I didn't feel it held up as well as the other classics I listed. It certainly isn't a bad game but it is very highly regarded and when reflected to that it isn't a great experience in this day and age imo.

Maybe I should take a look at Soul Reaver ect. I never played those games.

When I go to bridge the modem it says it'll disable NAT. If nat is disabled will I even be able to get the vita connected?

Ok it seems I need to bridge my modem then set the router to run in PPPoE. When I bridge my modem will I have to redo my router settings?

Sadly I have Resurrection on UMD so it won't be seeing any action on Vita at least before CFW. Also I am a little sad I got MGSHD on PS3. I'd really want to experience them on Vita but I can't be bothered before they are dirt cheap or free from +...

Hey guys, I got the white Vita & AC3:L bundle and a 32 GB card with some Christmas money. Back on Black Friday I got Wipeout 2048 and Hot Shots Golf for $9 each (even though I didn't have the Vita yet, I was planning on getting one eventually), and then I got more games when I purchased the system:

LittleBigPlanet Vita
Persona 4 Golden
Uncharted Golden Abyss
Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz
Mortal Kombat

Plus on PSN I bought Dokuro and Escape Plan on sale, I already had Sound Shapes through Cross-Buy, and I had claimed Motorstorm RC back when it was free.

I know PS+ is a good deal and I could have just gotten Uncharted (and more) through that, but I'm a fan of the series so I wanted to actually own it for good and not have it tied to a subscription, plus I decided I'd rather get retail games when possible (to save space on the memory card for download-exclusive Vita games, PSP games and PS1 Classics).

So far I'm really impressed - the screen is gorgeous and the games are a lot of fun. I do have a few complaints, though:

1. I have all the Crash & Spyro games on PSN already, so it sucks that they aren't Vita compatible. I hope they add them in the future (and if they already work in Europe, what's the holdup?)
2. I notice the blotches on the screen when it's a mostly black/dark grey colour. It's not a big problem though, since it's usually only noticeable at night in a dark room during loading screens. It's still overall a much better screen than any other device I've owned.
3. I hope they add more pages and/or folder support. I'm already at almost 7 full pages.
4. It's a shame games like Uncharted are sub-native. They still look nice, but imagine if they were actually rendering at the full 960x544. Also, it seems like Hot Shots Golf doesn't even use the full res for the interface. At least the other sub-native games still have nice and clear GUIs.

That aside, it's been a great system so far. I think even if Sony gave up on the Vita and no more games came out for it, I'd still be happy to own one. There are already a lot of great experiences to be had - I mean, there are still at least 10 games out now that I plan to get, and probably more that I haven't considered yet. Obviously I have a lot to play already though, so I won't be in any rush to get all these other games. Oh, and my PSN ID is chris12221 if anyone wants to add me.

And it's because SCEA sucks 99% of the time.
R-Types and R-Type Delta don't work either.
Unfortunately, things being in English or working in EU already is no guarantee, unfortunately. EU and NA still don't have Wake Up Club, and that's mostly in English. It took 6+ months for NA to get Frobisher Says! after EU got it and we still don't have the patch for trophies.

I really enjoy just having and playing the games "on the go" on vita (wake up vita and boot up play takes almost no time) so the discount is about to be over on monday and I don't know what to do yet >_>

Yeah, I should have clarified, I still prefer playing vita games even at home but then again, I did invest 60hrs recently playing okami hd (loved it) so its not like i'm not gonna play ps3 games at all, its just that here I have to choose between one or the other (I'm not paying twice for the games).

I'm itching to get another Vita or PSP game, but not knowing if / when there's going to be a sale has me on this frustrating wait. I don't get how they've screwed up like this, not having a meaningful sale of older titles in the busiest season of the year.

I dunno, from my perspective, SCEE rarely screws up, at least compared to SCEA. Sure, it would've been nice to have some discounts for you guys during Christmas, but it didn't happen. And now you have these posters that would have you believe that this takes all the good will that SCEE has generated during the Vita's lifetime (by doing a huge PSOne sale this summer, regular summer sales, better PS+ content, better general support, continued actions on getting games that people want that are missing (see: Spyro games), lowering the majority of the PSP titles to affordable prices, etc.) and just throws it out the window.

It just baffles me.

I mean, the guy running the blog seems to be (singlehandedly?) doing awesome things for all Sony customers in EU. Putting together the huge classics sale when PSOne support came through? My mind was blown. I couldn't believe it when he managed to get all these PSOne classics people'd been asking about either.

If there really is a sale in the works and he's trying to get it to all come together? I get this feeling in my gut that it's going to make the SCEA sales from these three weeks look pretty bad in comparison.

They've planned things well in advance and screwed up. They posted the original sale information on the 12th and then had to change the start of the sale to the 19th. They said there would be na update the following week and then changed it to January 9th.

I'm not saying they're horrible at everything, but ever since they launched the new store they've been having problems. For example, it took them 3 weeks to update the store with DOA 5 DLC that was supposed to be released at the end of November, and only did so after some people mentioned it to them in the blog comments.

There are at least 3 guys running the blog, and more people running the store and licensing. They've done a great job for most of the year and the PS+ offering for Vita is great, but they've dropped the ball regarding the rest these last couple of months when it would have been to their greatest advantage.

It would be great if the NA and EU releases were in March also, but Gravity Rush took 4 months to be released in those territories after Japan. Still, if they're using that date it might be what they're aiming for.

Those are silly people. PE2 isn't as good as 1, but it's still decent. And while 3rd Birthday has a story from Toriyama (so, you know, it doesn't make sense, at all), its gameplay is still really fun (especially on Vita). Though it is very different (it's more of a 3rd person action/shooter RPG than the kind of semi-real time thing the first game is or Resident Evil-ish like PE2).
