Especially social science studies, those things are infallible.

Speaking of this Old Thing, someone actually found the study Jeff cites to "prove" that spoilers don't actually affect enjoyment, and:

A) It was specifically referring to single paragraphs of text.

B) They also observed that this only worked if the reader hadn't yet even looked at the text yet and didn't really know what to expect. After they actually started reading, getting spoiled clearly had a negative impact on enjoyment.

I think I'm kind of srange about spoilers, they really don't affect me and alot of the time hearing a big spoiler makes me want to watch/play something even more than i did previously.

Lol same thing happened with me this year.

Also Jeff didn't like having the True Ending of Persona 4 spoiled for him by the idiots who kept sending him links to the P4 comic. No rational person already committed to finishing the game would, whether they were playing on their own or with Vinny.

I like how Jeff is carrying over the couch's lighting for his live stuff, haha.

Really jealous of that mic.

edit:
"One more thing, I'm pregnant."
Jeff's improved story should have been the actual story.

And the rally guy says "off-camber ahead" and I'm all like "I don't know what any of that means. If you were a true rally-bro, you'd speak English".

Jeff's solo stream commentary is awesome, it bears repeating.

I'm not a big racing game guy but I find myself interested in Forza Horizon. I do wish MS released these games on PC though. My 360 is old and I feel like it could go at anytime.

Does XCOM get harder as the game goes on? I broke and started a new game on normal after getting stomped in 3 different classic games. But I haven't lost a single soldier in 10 or so missions on normal. Like not even close to losing one. Classic was more fun, but I was losing 1-2 soldiers each mission and it seemed like I was making no progress at all. The plan was to playthrough it on normal once so I get passed the point of failing because it's my first time doing all this stuff, but if it's going to be this easy than I'd rather just play on classic and save scum when I see new stuff.

None of the enemies seem to have much health on normal, and it even seems like the accuracy of your shots is higher.

Normal has been pretty easy all the way through for me so far. I think I'm near the end and it's definitely gotten easier with plasma weapons and psi (even though just 2 of my 20 existing soldiers are psi-capable which seems low to me)

I didn't find normal non ironman to be hard at all really.

I played alot of classic ironman so this is what i'll tlak about

X-com has a weird difficulty curve the first thin man mission and the first terror mission are probably two of the hardest in the game. Once you get either laser weapons or carapace armour things begin to ease and once you have both as well as a couple of leveled up soldiers it becomes pretty easy. Mutons bump up the difficulty slightly again when they appear and sectoid commanders are a pain but it's not until cyberdisks and everything that comes after until you really get tha early gamr fear back imo.

Terror missions are stupid no matter what

Spawning all the civilians way in the back next to chryssalids is just dumb
Thing to note about these is that unless you care about your rating all you really need to do is save one civvie to be considered a success.

So on classic just save one and then go to cover, overwatch every turn, and wait for them to come to you.

It seems like there is a huge jump in the difficulty of Normal and Classic. I think it's got a lot to do with the positive feedback loop of Soldiers aren't Dying ->Soldiers get promoted->Soldiers Die less, etc. I'm just about to start the first base invasion mission and I have 1 major, 2 captains, 2 lieutenants, and 1 sergeant. At the moment those 6 are basically unkillable when they are together, and it just keeps compounding with every mission those 6 go on.

Compare that to my 3 tries at classic ironman where I was never able to get a single soldier above sergeant. Even the ones that got promoted ended up dying quite often since I was never able to get enough of them to fill a team with 3 squaddies or above. Inevitably I would run into mission that I couldn't handle and that was the end of it. The first 4-5 missions seem absolutely essential to success in this game. If you ace those, you have a great platform to build off for the rest of the game. I even changed the difficulty to classic on my normal playthrough after 6 missions, and it hasn't mattered one bit. My soldiers are just killing machines at this point.

I've been on a Bombcast roll today. Anyone wanna recommend me the best Bombcast episodes?

I went back and listened to the episode where they announced that Vinny got married. I didnt listen to it all, but the opening was fun because of that. Plus you get to hear Bra going hunting in NY for a early copy of MW2. I dont remember the exact date but it was the tuesday on the second week on Nov. 09. But before I found my way there I ended up on that date (or close to it) in 2011 and they were talking about MW3! It felt I had entered a time machine

oh and here is a good tool to use when browsing through old bombcasts

How the fuck am I gonna find that lol.

Anyone wanna help?

If you haven't already you should grab the round ups that This Year have done of the Bombcast (GFWRadio as well if you have good taste). Its really hard for me to pin point specific episodes, its all blur having listened to so many.

Edit: the only ones I have saved on my PC are 03-24-2009(Candy tasting) and 10-13-2009(JohnyV, Adam Boyes)

I'm kinda disappointed there wasn't a GOTY list form Erik Wolpaw, I enjoyed his past contributions.

I really enjoyed the chili-cast from around march of 2012 when they first announced going back to CBSi. I think I listened to that one around three times or so when it was released.
