Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

If you have PSN+

So what's the difference between Birth By Sleep and Birth By Sleep Final Mix?

Final Mix is an extended edition of the game with a new episode and bosses. It's Japan-only, but there is a fan translation you can apply to the game.

so one has a clue why is it that psp games bigger than 1 gb cant be installed? it says no space available when there's more than the required space, wtf?

Is the UNO PSP game in the store right now still the unpatched version of the game?

First of all, Sony will not patch the individual games. They patch the firmware. Meaning the game gets removed, new firmware is released with exploit removed, game gets put back for sale. This all could takes weeks btw.

It may be a PSP thing just like PS3? Meaning that you need extra space for game to be extracted and then installed. So say you download a 500MB games, you would need atleast 1GB of space to extract/install the package/game. Maybe thats why you cant install it? PS3 does this as well. Imagine downloading a 20GB game. That means you need atleast 40GB to install it.

I have no idea how to install the FTP app, I copy over the Tenkaichi save but then UNO doesn't see anything except UNO itself after the exploit loads.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but none of the stuff I copy over is showing up. I followed the instructions exactly and it's still not working. The weird thing is that it's not copying over at all. I have 2.33 gb left on my vita. I copy over the save file that contains the iso (which is like 972 mb due to the iso) and I still have 2.33 gb left. The UNO cfw copies over but nothing else does. Did I rip my ISO wrong?

The cfw works. The content just isn't transferring over. Cma transfers over the uno cfw but nothing else(isos/homebrew). I did all the renaming things correctly.

Thanks a bunch! I am guessing if we install this we need to stay off PSN or get banned?
Not really. It's just a PSP emulator exploit, no one is getting banned.
You just can't update as the next update will likely disable the game exploit.

Well, I got it working after messing around with it for an hour. Definitely a WEIRD file structure, so you need to follow the directions step-by-step. I still can't figure out how the file structure works for eboots...only isos working on my vita so far.

So its not flashing the firmware?

Definitely not - it's just an exploit within the PSP emulator.

Still debating on this. How are the emulators? Looking to run NES, and SNES primarily?

Dude the game is $5. Give it a try? If you dont like it then just update later on. But then again you got until the game gets pulled so you might not want to wait too much. Anyhow the emulators are ok but the SNES emulator that works is an outdated version that doesnt play some games or chuggs on some. NES one is great though.

Can you provide specific direction on how to setup the files for emulators to work? I have my GBA emulator zipped and in the Uno save folder, but it doesn't show up after I finish the transfer.

I wonder how long they'll be able to keep these hacks up. It should be trivial for Sony to implement an exploit scanning service that checks the saves of the exploited games for the exploit's payload and then ban a user based on detection of those.

Should being the key word there. Is there an easy way of copying off the exploit if you want to connect to PSN?

I messed with the previous exploit but yes they should work fine on the GB/GBC emulator, I believe its called MasterBoy (ver 2.x or something)

I would advice you to learn the FTP method. Its a bit slower but its easier to transfer homebrew to PS Vita. You basically just drag and drop the files into the PSP/GAME/ folder and thats it. No need to rename any zip files or worry about 8 character limit.

And those getting homebrew on their Vitas, please get Cave Story PSP port. Its so good.

It works, thanks!

Yes, deleting the save and ISOs and upgrading to the latest firmware. No way back though, so you'll lose access until the next exploit. Right now we have an exploit for 2.02, which is the latest firmware, so you can connect to PSN just fine and still use the exploit to load homebrew and games.

Well, that doesn't sound worthwhile at all!

I'm not sure about the speed actually though I tried Legend of Mana and it ran slower than on my PSP 2000 :/ But yeah I agree it's not really worthwhile for RPGs for example and most other games if you have a simpler game however like lets say a DBZ fighter I guess it would be okay. Well for me atleast as I play most things other than RPGs or story-heavy things without sound on a handheld :P

Guys the VITA FTP is so much easier.

I just dragged my PSP GBA emulator folder into PSP > GAME

And everything works just fine.

Also I'm going to have to get a 32GB memory card now!

What program are you using to do this? I don't know where to begin and have been trying to get a GBA emulator to work for over 2 hours.

Is there a step by step guide to get the ftp working?

Sorry guys, I was talking about the GBC emulator. But FTP has always worked for me. I just used the standard PSP.ZIP in the save folder method. The same method works to install all homebrew/emulators.

And if you install FTP you should be able to just drag and drop folders/items without working about zip files.

What am I doing wrong? I can't get the system to see any homebrew files.

So yeah I am a wimp. I am sitting here debating on doing this. :/ I have a lot of digitally purchased content, and if I get banned I would be POed.

Are you sure that you have them packaged correctly?

NAME.ZIP > PSP > GAME > Emulator > Emulator files and folders --- and that the .ZIP is in the UNO save folder?

Edit: or NAME.ZIP > PSP > GAME > Homebrew > Homebrew files and folders

If you're using Content Manager, you need to just throw the files into the same folder as the Uno Save on your PC. Make sure you're renaming the file extensions to capital letters too. This is where I kept messing up. So the file should be XXXXXXXX.YYY

Does every single file in the emulator need to be in all caps? Even the file extensions and roms?

Nope, just the .ZIP and the PSP > GAME folders. I think the .ZIP can't be longer than 8 characters either. I'm not sure about the rom name length.

something is wrong - that's how I have it setup. Would you mind sending me your files so I can test it? I've done this kind of stuff before without issue and am GOING CRAZZZZZYYYYYYY.

Me too... Homebrew is just not cooperating for me, at least for SNES and GBA (the two that I actually WANT to run). How can I access the ms0 to put files in CWCheat?

HOW DO YOU ACCESS SEPLUGINS? I've been asking forever and I can't find a single thing about it anywhere, not here or wololo. I want to use CWCheat and the FFT WOTL Slowdown patch.
