Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Not open for further replies.
Slightly off topic but there is a post on the miiverse that is really popular that says "I wish this controller was cheaper so I could throw it at the wall."

I LOL'd. Never been a controller (or vita) thrower, but I understand the feeling.

I toss it around usually on my bed now much less than before.

I destroyed a few PS2 controllers back in the day though

I love Touch My Katamari, I just wish it was longer. The levels are okay-ish, as far as Katamari goes. The music is awesome, for the most part. There isn't a ton of content, as the limited trophy list indicates. I definitely recommend it, if you like Katamari. It's a great game to have on the go. I just really, really wish they would've released some add-on content, or packed more in from the beginning.

There's been a bunch of DLC released for it already.

You make it sound like that's a trivial thing, when one of them is to buy every item of clothing, jetpack, gadget and vehicle upgrade. Unless you're buying coins that takes a while.

Indeed.

Ninja Gaiden is much more skill based than those games. It's hard to compare them. You can do combos and whatnot, but it's not over the top like GoW or DMC where you get 100+ hits just by mashing buttons. It's more like 5-10 hit combos and if you whiff you are punished hard.

Some people like the challenge, others are turned off by it. I personally love it. I bought it at launch on the vita (first time playing it since the xbox days) and I still play it. Great game.

There's so much wrong with this statement I don't even know where to start. :D
I don't agree with you at all with the comparision, but yes, NGS is along the lines of action games like Bayonetta, DMC3/4.

When I think of action games like that.... Bayonetta, DMC, GoW, I think of ranged weapons mixed with melee (which NG has, but not to the extent that those games do) and melee weapons that can take out multiple guys at once as your combo meter skyrockets.

NG, to me, feels more like action game mixed with a fighter. You need positioning, you need to block and counter. You can't just swing a giant ass sword and take out 10 guys at once.

I'm not saying that those games are bad, btw. I love most action games. GoW is one of my favorite franchises. Bayonetta was flawed but quite fun. DMC has had its ups and downs...

Happy New Year Vitabros and Vitagals!

Any predictions for 2013 announcements? I would love to hear more about a FFX release.
During Q1 or early Q2 Vita is dropped to $199 permanently and price cards get a permanent pricecut too. 64GB and maybe 128GB cards are announced too.

In the E3 Sony announces :
  • FF Type 0 HD to be released worldwide September 2013 as a PS3/PSV cross buy & cross save game.
  • Monster Hunter Portable 3rd G HD to be released worldwide October 2013 as a PS3/PSV cross buy, cross play & cross save game.
  • Last Guardian to be released worldwide November 2013 featuring a surprising cross controller 2nd screen experience.
  • FF X HD to be released worldwide December 2013 as a PS3/PSV cross buy & cross save game.
  • Monster Hunter 4G announced as a PS3/PSV cross play & cross save game.
  • Vita gets PS2, PS3 and PS4 games thanks to Gaikai.
  • They stopped to talk about Agent because is coming November 2013 for Vita.
  • GTA San Andreas story to be released May 2014 for Vita, developed by other Rockstar team.
  • Call of Duty 2013 is fully multiplatform, Vita and PS3 versions feature cross play and cross save.
  • Sony buys Quantic Dream and Ready at Dawn, both recently hired stuff to create a 2nd team focused on Vita games (being God of War Vita the first one announced).
  • New Uncharted Vita, developed by Bend, features a quality jump like the one seen form U1 to U2. Also features connectivity with U4 (announced to be released as PS4 launch game).
  • Loco Roco Vita and Parappa Vita are coming from Japan.
  • Journey and Unfinished Swan get a Vita port.
  • PS4 is announced to be released Spring 2014 and includes in the box both a DS4 and a Vita, rising the cross play, cross controller, remote play, cross buy and cross play to a new level. Most of the 1st party PS4 announced games support them.
  • As final surprise Kojima appears to announce MGSV (PS3, 360, Vita). Ground Zeroes is a stand alone DLC separated prologue. MGSV is coming to Vita too and features a new level of transfarring (cross play + cross controller + cross save).

After the conference Totobeni says that Vita is saved and starts to be really optimistic.

Yeah how many of those do you think will happen?

IDK most of that stuff just seems impossible especially the totobeni part but hey.....

All of them are very difficult to see, but I'd say they will bet for at least 3 or 4 of these since :
  • They still have to announce Vita & PS3 stuff for the 2nd half of 2013 / 1st half of 2014.
  • They must push hard there with PS3 and Vita until the PS4 launch (so Spring 2014) to counter X720 launch (if it's released November 2013 as I expect).
  • Would let the PS3 for existing 1st party projects and 3rd party. All the Sony money after these games would be for Vita and specially PS4, wouldn't need more for big PS3 games.
  • Some of these are already known, hinted or rumored projects. At least in a different way.
  • Yoshida stated thay they learned with the 'no Vita games?' of the E3 2012 conference
  • They must convince most hardcores that Vita has great upcoming games, specially in Japan.
  • And well, it's what I'd do in their case.

I agree, the Totobeni one is the most difficult. ;)

Wow, I don't think even a single one on that list will happen (except Golden Abyss sequel, but it won't be a massive leap over the first).

My predictions:

- $199 starting this spring, but no change to memory card prices
- Tekken Tag Tournament 2 port with cross-play
- Disgaea 4 port (no cross-save)
- Rayman Legends port
- Motorstorm developed by Evolution
- Gravity Rush 2
- Invizimals Vita
- ModNation Vita with proper online this time (then Sony San Diego gets shuttered)
- Resident Evil (Operation Raccoon City 2) Vita/RE4 port
- Metal Gear Solid project announcement
- David Jaffe project megaton
- Nothing from Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, or Polyphony

No. Its still stupid expensive and has a ridiculous amount of paid DLC but the style just calls to me! Havent heard anything other than the mostly negative reviews though.

Well if it helps the DLC all seems to be boosters and stuff to help you do better, nothing actually essential.

I was this close to buying it last night but for some reason I bought Disgaea 3 instead. Maybe because I assumed LKS would have a better shot at a sale down the road, maybe it's because I technically played it already on Wii. I don't know, I had it in the cart ready to hit checkout and stopped.

Way to ruin my life.

Prediciton time it is,i guess so here it goes:-

-Uncharted golden abyss 2 announced for fall 2013,is a massive leap over the launch game and has MP.
-Gravity rush 2 announced for early 2014
-Soul sacrifice localised in march 2013.
-TTT2 vita version coming 2013
-Rayman legends vita version (for 2013)without the murphy stuff and extra rayman levels, called origins 2.
-God eater 2 timed vita exclusive.
-Ys localisation for 2013.

I think Evolution are working in PS4 launch game, possibly in the Wipeout that Liverpool had under development during 12-18 months when closed.

Regarding Invizimals they announced this recently (and in a separate note said that the upcoming Invizimals cartoon will unlock something in Vita) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YjMqWq4_D4

And about RE, knowing Capcom if RE Revelations HD is true I think they'll port it to Vita some months after PS3 and 360.

I would sign the other points you mention, I also see them coming. MGS Vita project would be either MGS Ground Zeroes or MGS V (considering what Kojima said about a next gen of transfarring coming and that their Kojima Engine games would support Vita too), I forgot to mention it in my post. I think Kojima will be on Sony's E3 stage. Just updated my post.

Prediction time!

Price drop and cancel of 3G model

Bigger memory cards - drop 4gb model and adjust prices accordingly

A few first party games announced including at least one new ip and a couple of psp favourites

At least 3 massive third party exclusives (think MGS, GTA etc)

More marketing and trying to get rid of the negative impression of the vita

Renewed focus on cross-everything as the ps3 ends its life cycle and the ps4s begins

And some crazy ones!
X com ported to vita
Valve game on vita
Just cause 3 vita
Dead space vita
Final fantasy 13 vs vita
Uncharted trilogy ported to vita
God of war trilogy ported to vita
GT 5 vita

Smartass.

You've got people who say it's a terrible katamari and it's short and the levels suck and so on and so forth.

Then you got people who say it's a great portable katamari and it's a lot of fun and feels like katamari.

I'm just trying to sort which will probably resonate with me before I drop the cash on it. :P
why do you have to insult me ;_;

It really is just katamari on the go.

Yeah but what kind of katamari is it,on the go? the good kind or the bad kind?don't say the mankind or the katamari kind.......
it's the ugly kind

because you said good or bad kind and clint eastwood and

I paid $13 for my copy on Gamefly and was content with my purchase, so I'd say it's worth a purchase.

I tried Chronovolt again earlier.

That game is still no good.

Also, all those buttons, and they map reverse time to the touch-screen. Why.

Solid list I say you got there

I agree with all of this and also think Gran Turismo Vita will be announced

-Rayman legends vita version (for 2013)without the murphy stuff and extra rayman levels, called origins 2.

lolwhat?

Why would they remove the Murfy content for a hypothetical Vita port? The Vita, if anything, would retain it. This doesn't make any sense, down to the name change, as the game is themed around mythology and stuff.

-God eater 2 timed vita exclusive.

This doesn't make sense either

edit: everything else you said seems pretty realistic though :P (I also think the $199 drop will occur earlier than gamescom)

An original Infamous would be great. Love the universe. I would personally prefer if they cut the open world aspect and increased environment variety but I know a lot of people wouldn't go for that haha.

I know!!

I dunno, hearing things about slowdown and bad translation....

So, I got the platinum in NLKS. Took me about 45-50 hours? I thoroughly enjoyed that game, really didn't want it to end. The slowdown is only noticeable if you have around like 12-15+ soldiers in your guard, and really only when you're in town or around tons of enemies. If you absolutely can't stand performance issues, it'll probably annoy you but I just loved the game nonetheless. I didn't notice any weird translation issues, but I'm playing on the American version, I've heard a few European translations were kind of goofy but there was nothing bad.

40$ is a really steep price for the game, especially when it's digital only but the amount of content you get is pretty great, plus if you're short on space it's only like 650MB.

So close to getting the platinum in Motorstorm! Working on the supercar challenges now.. almost done getting 3/3 medals in the first festival. I found it surprisingly easy to control, it just accelerates too fast.

My predictions for 2013:

Killzone and Tearaway are both 2013 releases. Probably early Summer for one, Fall for the other.
Sony announces some sort of Gaikai work around for streaming PS3 games to the Vita.
Sony cuts the price of the Vita to $170/$220.
Sony discontinues the sale of the 4GB stick and lowers the price of all the other sticks, making the 8GB stick the next upgrade. 4GB sticks will be packed in with every Vita.
Soul Sacrifice kills it with reviews and becomes a must play game, a system seller.
Warrior's Lair resurfaces at E3 and is released in the fall.

An original Infamous would be great. Love the universe. I would personally prefer if they cut the open world aspect and increased environment variety but I know a lot of people wouldn't go for that haha.

I'd go for that (or a new main character other than Cole) so long as they don't try to give an existing character a drastic makeover via excessive plastic surgery.

The only interesting and superior Pixel Junk game is Eden and I wish it was on Vita it is so perfect

Eden is my favourite too, but they're all amazing, except possibly Racers which I haven't played.

I'd rather have something new though, don't want a port.
