Capcom: DMC will teach casuals the "magic" of pro gaming, entry bar "is very low"

Why do you think it's a joke? That's 100% how the style system and demon dodge operate.

I didn't even link to a video that shows that you don't need to variate your moves after you get that initial SSS because the style meter never drops letter grades. You are not punished for repeating moves.

..what

The only thing they are right about in that interview is that it is much easier to look like a pro in DmC than in previous games.

Oh and...

wait Bloody Palace is out?

haha what a clusterfuck this thing is

Itsuno, what are you saying. You dont need to go this fucking far for these clowns. God, this is tragic.

Oh wow. Just mashing the same combo in the air over and over again and SSSENSATIONAL!

And the style meter... never seems to go down? :/
Only way to bring it down is to get hit.

There is no Bloody Palace on the retail disc. Game has been sort of leaked, we were discussing it in the review thread. There is no sign of BP anywhere, it could potentially be DLC though. No mention of it in the guide or achievements in there.

Game director Hideaki Itsuno of Capcom insists that this commercially necessary shift hasn't cost the game its vertiginous top layer of skill. "As the series has gone we've seen new users die out, as it took longer to get into it. When it came time to make DMC 4, with the new hero and new moves, new techniques and skills, not many new fans entered the series.

Isn't this factually incorrect? Wasn't DMC4 the highest seller in the series, or at least the highest seller since the original?

That's because they shipped too much. That's going to be the deciding factor on how quickly the price drops.
Did they ship too much or did no one just want the game after the bad word of mouth?

Didnt they ship a lot of Dragons Dogma? I remember them expecting it to be a big multimillion seller and saying it was their most expensive title yet.

You can literally do that demon dodge Dahbomb showed, then just spam the guns for the next 5 or so minutes, farming SSS rank points

Ugh. What's the point of having a style meter then?

Oh right, MAGIC OF PRO GAMING

I was willing to give the game a second chance and had a media blackout for quite a long time but the recent footage isn't inspiring any confidence.

lol! Setting the bar so low, even your mom could play this game! Can we FINALLY move on from this game, please? It's been yesterday's garbage for far too long.

Wow. And then the threat it could be DLC? Christ these people

I have no idea what Capcom is filling its water coolers with these days, but it appears to be straight up brain-poison. Yeah, DMC4 sold the most. Which makes it somehow an abject failure that needed rebooting at the house of quality that is NinjaTheory and in UE3.

The odd part about the tweet is that just as it went up, the Italian 7.5 review was removed. The translations are still up in the review thread but the review isn't.

I don't want to call shenanigans just yet because it could just be an internet vs magazine review type embargo thing but something fishy is happening right there.

Also just to detract from the interview a bit, the game play/combat is pretty good in the game and has some nice nuances to it. It's not DMC standard but it's better than your average action game and fans of the genre should at least try the demo. It's a damn shame they fucked up the style ranking system but in reality without using the demon dodge and comboing just one enemy it's not THAT easy to bring your style rank up... it's just through some tricks you can get it up rather easily and the fact that it doesn't really go down at all really puts a damper on your actions in the game. It's such a basic oversight that it boggles my mind that they haven't fixed it yet or even talked about fixing it.

Thats a joke right?

Depends on your sense of humor I guess

Ranking system in the demo is broken on a fundamental level in almost every aspect, and both NT and Capcom reps have demonstrated no interest in fixing it when it's been brought to their attention.

It's almost like the systems in this game are only in there for its legacy's sake, while NT has no idea how they even work.

We will when we're too busy playing Rising, uploading combat porn on youtube, AND it outsells DmC.

you guys are all complaining because dante's hair isn't white anymore

can't fool me
lol. I'm glad that the discourse has gotten better though, from both sides. I'll admit even I spewed a lot of venom and had to stay away from these threads for a whle but man, when my second favorite franchise from last gen gets watered down like this, it's just a kick in the nuts. DMC fans should form a support group with fans of Splinter Cell, Hitman, Tomb Raider, and like 10 other franchises this gen that got watered to chase the casual crowd.

Considering that Devil Trigger in DmC mode levitates all enemies in the vicinity and slows down time... giving DmC Dante a Super version would be pretty damn hilarious. Imagine the skies filled with enemies and you just hook from one enemies to enemy slashing them away.
