Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Eaux = oh

the Shield could be extremely attractive if the price is right. By "right" I'm thinking $149 to $199.

first off... ok then... odd as most internet jargon is about making stuff shorter.

anyways I would be surprised if the project shield was under $300 let alone $200.... I am guessing a $499 price tag or so for it. I mean if I understand things correctly it needs like a $400 video card in order to be able to stream games anyways which would be one of it's big features (as an android device with buttons isn't anything new) so there isn't much reason to budget price the thing if it's aimed at people willing to spend $400 plus for a video card alone.

hmmm top post again..... uh is half minute hero on the psn... if it is then that is a fun recommendation *checks*
yup yup it is
it's 101mb and $10. It's also a lot of fun. Like rpgs but don't have time to put 50 hours into finishing one... then Half minute hero is for you. why spend 50 hours on a rpg when you can beat one in 30 seconds :P

half minute hero is a rpg where you have 30 seconds to beat the last boss or it's game over... it has multiple stages and eventually unlocks more modes... it's great for short bursts and in general lots of fun.

The Shield does nothing for me, however I do wish Vita allowed access to the android store on the Vita, as well as being able to stream all PS3 games as easy as WiiU pad.

to be fair in regards to streaming games, it might be that the ps3 lacks the resources to stream most games to the vita smoothly and that when the ps4 comes we will see a lot more games streaming to it. Aren't most of the games that support remote play on the vita psn games or ps2 classics?

The Shield stuff just reminds me how much I want everything to be streamable from PS4 to Vita.

The way I see it, as much as it may look nice, it's the same as me picking up a Wii U or something now so I have something next-gen - I'd regret it eventually because as nice as the third party stuff is, I buy and enjoy more WWS games that anything else, so I'd feel like I was missing out. Hence why I bought my Vita :D I know that if an Infamous, Killzone, or LBP comes out on portable, I'll be able to play it.

...as an android device with buttons isn't anything new...

What other Android handheld, of any kind, has the real controls the Shield appears to have? I don't ask because I doubt it, I ask because I want to buy it. I want something equipped with real thumbsticks, dual triggers, a d-pad and four face buttons (basically a PS3/Xbox 360 controller). No, I don't want to use a bluetooth game pad or an OTG cable and some third party app to pair a USB controller to a tablet.

Yep, same here. I have to believe Sony is going to somehow implement gaikai into a PS4-to-Vita option.

...expect price tag around 500-600$ for shield.

If that's true this thing will never be a mass market device.

Shield will live or die by it's price tbh. If they price it around Vita's range (read lower but close) then it'll be a decent system (design ignored). But priced above the $300 tag? Forget about it. Ouya & etc should fill in the need for an android console.

Except if what nvidia says is true the shield is at least 3x more powerful than the ouya

Anyway this is a vita thread :)

VITAAAAAA

Nvidia has hamstrung it's potential from the get go by the fact that it is an android focused device unlike the vita.

I can't name anything off the top of my head, but i know there are devices that allow you to hook up something like the galaxy to a controller with all of that stuff and basically turn it into a handheld. My statement was in general though that an android device with buttons is nothing new at this point. Ouya would fit that condition as would the other system getting kickstarted right now that I can't remember.
Eaux= Ew

Lmfao

still don't get it. Internet jargon makes stuff shorter in general. Urban dictionary got me to Oh as well which didn't make sense.... at least with Ew if I pretend I am Japanese and pronounce your letters as I would if I was trying to say Japanese words it somewhat sounds like Ew... still don't get why you wouldn't just say ew... though I suppose there are plenty of people who say stuff like arigato instead of thanks, but most people at least know what arigato is *shrugs*

Everyone, buy Life of Pixel this week on PSM. The developers really need the suport, and Pixel seems like a cool project..

gonna have to pass on that... I already have like 30 games on the PC that look like that that I haven't played o.O;

Been playing Sound Shapes, and I have to say it's one of my favorite games on the vita (and ps3). A few people here were saying it wasn't worth the money, and perhaps at the original price they're right. I understand where your frustrations are coming from. The campaign provides little to no challenge, but I honestly think it's just a matter of adjusting expectations. Once you understand the game's intent, it's brilliant. I sort of treated it like Flower - something to relax to. In fact, I still haven't beaten the campaign because I keep replaying levels as well as trying out the community stuff (one level took me 20 minutes to finish).

It probably wasn't the best decision to lock death mode & beat school behind finishing the campaign. I can imagine how that frustrates the hell out of people seeking a challenge or, god forbid, trophy enthusiasts wanting immediate gratification. I'm glad it I bought it, though. Anyone doubtful should just know what to expect. Current price is completely fair. Also, have a decent pair of headphones (for vita) or speakers (for ps3). Seems pointless otherwise.

You'll be paying 4 times the price too :p

Such a weird decision by Sony, I guess they stand to lose more by having a device that gives root access.

Bleh Kepler card is also needed for the streaming lol.

and I suppose oui means owie is in "boo boo"? :-/
just kidding :)

Do you guys have Near set to download game goods automatically? I turned that back off and found that it's more fun to check it every so often and discover that I got new stuff!

Who cares how powerful this is? Android game market is a barren wasteland anyway, and now you want developers to pour more resources for the game that will not play on vast majority of devices? I don't know what the guys at NVIDIA are smoking, but it's some good stuff.

i haven't played with near much mostly because I don't own any of the games that gives goods (and I didn't enjoy the free ones that get goods) eventually I will own RO though.

You sure got my point? I was talking about the software support.

sad I'm not getting more TOM Blitz crystals

I'm actually getting quite excited for EDF despite never playing the console version before. Also think I'm picking up MK from bestbuy later. Can't put this damn thing down lol.

I'm so excited about EDF. Having played EDF2 on the PS2 and EDF3 on the 360 and totally loving them both, the thought of having the game on the go is blowing my mind.

^^^^

Agreed, can't wait until Wed! I just need a damn 32 gb card :/

The shield won't even get a 5th of support that the vita is getting one of the reasons for that is it's over dependence on android.

Ah ok, yeah makes sense. Considering the few games that will take advantage of the T4 will be extremely small. Oh well like I said, price if the real factor. If it's cheap it'll be fine.

Are you expecting something like crysis or any of the big titles to land on the google play store?I don't,anyways PS mobile should have had all the big phone titles from the get go

Vita I was gonna buy last week fell through but I found another on Craigslist and I'm supposed to meet the guy and buy it today. $200 for the Wifi/3G with an 8gb card and Mortal Kombat, Dynasty Warriors, Marvel vs Capcom, and Gravity Rush. Im getting cold feet though. I'm crazy not to snag all that for $200 though. Right?

Glad to see some people are actually interested in EDF2017 Portable :)

But touch screen stuff is so cool now!
Nobody's saying that, it's just unnecessary to dismiss it out of hand. That said, and as much as I like the look of KZ, I hope those gestures do have an alternative. When you're in the heat of a gunfight coming off of the standard controls makes little sense (the finishing moves in UGA were unnecessary).

Worth every penny at the original asking price for me. I'm always amazed at the lack of love it gets in this thread (or perhaps only people that dislike it respond to the questions).

Sound Shapes was the second Vita game I bought, unfortunately I bought it the day before PS+ launched on the Vita. I did really like what I'd played of it, but I also liked what I'd played of UCGA, Gravity Rush, MBA, MK and Knytt's Underground. I'm close to finally finishing Just Cause 2, which should free me up to get back to my Vita backlog.

As long as you can do the gestures at the side of the screen rather then in the center I think it's good. Though maybe an option to have some on screen buttons on the side is fine with me also.

Really enjoying MK currently. Am getting pretty far into the story mode
currently at the Cyber Sub Zero section, first fight - hopefully I'm starting to get there? The half way there trophy seems ages ago, but then I spent two hours on the Liu Kahn / Emperor fight before I looked up at Youtube that I needed to spam fireballs :D

Go for it. I got mine on CL a while ago and haven't looked back.

Sounds good for a 3G model. I have one too and haven't regretted it (finding it actually useful for occasional on the road gaming, Skype and Google Maps and such, even gmail), and of course gps stuff works much better in general, including Near.

Anyway, that bundle should net you an easy 40 hours of entertainment. So that's $5 an hour entertainment right there which isn't too bad. ;)

My thoughts exactly. It has some nice features but in terms of developer support, it'll run into the same problem the ouya will, IMO - in that it won't be able to get the same kind of support that dedicated handhelds/consoles get. This is because it's games are split between phones/tablets and now handhelds and consoles, but they'll be relying on third party devs completely in the hopes that they'll support it.

I mean, look at how handhelds with constant support are doing? These are handhelds that have robust, attractive IPs and franchises. The reason why app gaming works so well on phones and tablets is because they can be used for so much more than that, so if the gaming is lacking they don't feel they've been let down.

I'd say you are making out pretty well in this deal. Go for it. Don't know how you feel about Dynasty Warriors, but Next is still my most played Vita game.

Didn't see it posted, so:

The tweet got already deleted.
Dan Amrich is Activision's Social Media-Manager.

I hope they'll actually work more than 5 months on the game and with a better dev.
