agreed ^_^ I like bellies too.

big thighs are a dream come true though, in fact I prefer those that have strong legs because of genetics and not because of workout.

I do have some thunder thighs, but I think it's mostly muscle and not fat. They're not defined, though.

I wasn't gifted with naturally strong limbs, or strong anything for that matter, lol. But I like being skinny so it's okay. I could use some meat on my upper body, maybe this year... Is it true that getting in shape after 25 is considerably more difficult? Because then I should get started ASAP, lol.

It's cool you guys like bellies, it just ain't for me. Like I said, guy doesn't need to have a 10 pack or even be defined, but no gut. Just a sign he keeps his diet in check. It would be really hard for me to ever date someone seriously who wasn't at least a little health conscious.

Can you imagine living together? I'd either be angry all day or succumb to convenience/desire and get fat again.

No, I agree. If you put effort and time into it, it's only fair you expect your guy to do the same. It's not about ditching someone because they added 0.5% body fat, but if you're active then, realistically, you can't really be with someone who isn't.

Yeah, it's a matter of compatibility. Like smoking... man, I'd try to be very tolerant but the smoking would have to be done out of my sight where my hair, clothes and lungs have nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I don't need someone to be a gym rat but at least some focus on healthy living would be required for long term compatibility. I think that mostly has to do with my focus on being healthier and it would be nicer to share that with someone instead of having to split meals, work out alone etc...

for me, the phrase "I like bellies" can be very relative. I certainly wouldn't be attracted to morbid obese guys but I don't need to see any sort of ab workout either to like someone.

in gayromeo there is an option to describe your bodytype with "a bit of belly", meaning, regular guys that don't do exercises, are not in the best shape they could but look quite normal otherwise.

That's what I meant, normal guys, specially those in their 30's. No workout means belly, yes or yes, unless you do something against it.:P

I'd say its fair to say I'll probably won't ever date a smoker so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Indeed. Belly =/= gut!

if you use online dating, you'll probably date a smoker by mistake. :)

they lie or omit that info, they think that because they smoke "just a few" each day, it doesn't count and you wont notice anyway (W.T.F!!...)

so make sure you ask before meeting people!

About the religion topic. Well I'm catholic and i'm fine, it gets me good comfort from time to time. The official catholic view is "be as gay as you want but don't have sex" and lol about that. It's the same for heterosexual people (no. one should do non reproductive sex AND even do that kind of sex outside marriage) no one follows that part, and as catholicism is based on the new gospel and. not the old, there is no dogmatic problem.

I know US catholics get a bad rap (there is just enough people in the us for there to be a bunch of crazy people) but in my experience it's not a bad religion at all for being gay.

Labels are funny, especially with bears. I usually just do a trifecta of bear, cub and chub whenever I tag myself on tumblr. Hopefully after the gym becomes a habit I can exchange chub for bull :O

I like doing ab exercises. Crunches and leg raises, combined with the main lifts (mainly squatting, if I understand correctly) and you are all set, or is there more to it?

the only bad thing about abs is that it takes very long, both in gym time and to see decent results.... I do around 400 crunches plus 100 leg raises twice a week and all I've got it this (check pic), it's annoying cause it takes time but I have fun doing them. Any advice or tips from fitness-gayGAF in this regard are appreciated.

Have you tried using weights with your ab workouts(and doing lower reps)? It helps make the muscles pop out.

I've noticed that the Kenpo cardio+ routine of the P90X+ workout is what makes mine pop out. It's basically cardio with a lot of kicking and punching that keeps you moving the whole time and since there's a lot of movement, you engage your core a lot and it did produce a lot of results.

I find it actively horrible that I can have the most bog-standard, unremarkable body in the world, and yet if you looked solely at the people on display in advertising (or culture in general) you'd be convinced that that is ugly and entirely undesirable. Gay culture's not particularly any better in that regard either.

I'd really like to know if there's been a study of male anorexia studies, to see if being gay increases your likelihood of suffering from anorexia (or body dysmorphia in general) in your life.

yeah me neither

i've actually found a lot of gay guys that smoke socially when drunk.

i dated a smoker once. it wasn't as bad as i thought, but i made him smoke outside the apt and brush his teeth afterwards :D he wouldn't smoke in his place so he never really smelled of smoke.

I've decided this whole not going to the gym and working out at home thing isn't working for me. I've been craving, actually craving to go lift weights again. I think I'm going to focus on spending the next couple of months (before half-marathon season starts) on lifting heaving and putting on a little bit of weight. Even if it's only 5lbs by March I'll be happy.

Bring on the peanut butter!

From (albeit the little) experience I have with Catholics is that theirs is more a culture than a religion anyway. Sort of like Judaism. It's not nearly as crazy as some of the pentecostal churches can get in America. That said, good luck trying to get married. I guess it's nice that they changed their official view I suppose. At the end of the day, religious dogma doesn't align with medical science so you're going to be forced into one side or the other.

She's cute.

Still no.

Does anyone here go to church? I've never been religious, but I was looking into churches recently (since it seems I can't throw a rock without hitting one), and there's a prominent Unitarian Universalist church here that looks interesting. I've never been to a church outside of tours, funerals, and weddings, so I figure that even if it ends up being unbearable, it'll be something different.

I've gone to church enough to last me a lifetime (went to catholic elementary/high school). Mass was largely a drag and everyone kind of zoned out or joked around, but the odd sermon was interesting (although it depends on who's giving it). I can't say I really took away anything from the experience in my 12 years of attendance apart from anecdotal bible knowledge and a mess of prayers by memory.

I used to go to church when I was a kid. Gladly I had a Game Boy.

Haha same.

How do you guys feel about facial hair styles? I'm not talking clean shaven or not, I mean if you like facial hair, how do you like it? Mustache, goatee, van dyke, full trimmed beard, bushy, or just some scruff?

I ask because I've had this same look for years and I think it's times to refine it. I was thinking of growing my beard out a bit, so that it's thick, and then shaping it into something nice. Like this:

Is that too much?

For reference this is what I'm working with now, sorry for the shitty attire.

I feel like it's a mess. :\

i'm not sure i could date someone what went to the gym regularly. dunno, would have to try, but i doubt that would work.

EDIT: i like stubble and beards but f'n hate moustaches. think everyone looks silly in them!

I actually always liked your scruff. It looks good on you. That said, I think you'd look awesome if your hair and beard were about the same length. Just don't go shaving your head again-- you're too cute not to have hair.

Edit: I just realized you took all your old photos off FB. I'd have to see you clean cut to compare, though. That said: Beard > Goatee. I like both on you, though.

I like scruffy beards and stubble the most. For some reason I'm not a big fan or elaborate facial hair. I can't pull it off, though, so I shave daily :/

Same here. Your current scruffy look looks good.
If you want to change it, though, maybe try growing a full beard.

About mustaches - some people can pull if off and look good (e.g. krypt0nite), but very often it just makes one look weird.

Scruff looks good. You can maybe shave your neck if you feel like a mess.

Goatees are a big turn off for me. I think it makes people look dusty and makes me think of a middle-aged guy working in a cubicle wearing beige chinos and an unfitted shirt. Possibly short-sleeved.

Why not? They're in the minority, but gay-friendly churches and priests certainly exist, at least in the United States. There are other things about Catholicism and organized religion in general that might be objectionable, but if your concern about Catholicism is strictly related to their views on homosexuality and nothing more, there are definitely churches out there that are accepting.

I think the Metropolitan Community Church is a gay church. They have a lot of them.

I like a full beard, clean shaven or even just a little bit of scruff. I really don't like goatees, or just a mustache. But to be fair it really boils down to the person sporting them. Some people just can't pull off having a beard.

Your beard looks fine by me, by the way.
