Christ...

For the first two months, NO hard locks.

Now? Two in two days.

Fuck offfffff...Nintendo, fix your goddamn console. I just want to enjoy the fucking thing.

That's the case.
Thank you german fellows.

Entschuldigung.

Anyway, just tried again (it being 23:21 here) and I still see no friggin ZombiU demo. It's apparently really not on the German shop

Darn it!

EDIT: Maybe I'll try creating a UK NinID...

BTW...

When I turn on a game, why is the song that plays while it's loading (before the actual game comes on) so loud?

It's crazy how loud it is compared to the game itself when it boots.

Having my first unsatisfactory Wii U moment and seriously need some help.

Last night I imported my Wii data to my Wii U. Now, when I boot up my Wii U, it says I can't connect to the internet and that another device is using the same IP address. I don't know how to fix this problem, and the Wii data import can't be unrelated.

What are my options? Thanks!

I don't notice with Nintendoland, but it's definitely louder when NSMBU loads up.

Played a few hours of NSMBU with the girlfriend and she loves it. Played a few games of Nintendo Land, and we both had a fun time. Mario Chase is awesome. Haven't played the other games yet.

Would love to add new friends, as I have none for now, so please feel free to add me.

I love mine. ZombiU, NG3: RE, New Super Mario Bros. U and Nintendo Land are all fun, it's my new primary Netflix machine, and I really enjoy Miiverse.

Hi all - first post here on GAF (account finally activated after months of waiting!!!)

Got a Wii U over the Xmas period and I'm really liking it so far.
The delays in switching between apps doesn't seem as bad to me as has been made out here, or maybe I'm just more tolerant.
I'm loving MiiVerse and all of the fantastic drawings that people post. It's great that you can ask a question and get an answer quickly and the whole thing just seems friendly which to me is what a gaming community should be all about.
In terms of games, Nintendoland is much better than I thought it would be - really polished and much deeper than expected - loving Pikmin Adventure, Zelda, DK and Balloon Chase. Also love the idea of the 'exhibits' in the main plaza.
Only one hard lock so far when firing up Nintendoland and no repeat since.
Also I just keep thinking to myself 'Damn, this is clever' when playing on the Gamepad - no lag, decent image quality etc. Off screen play is a great concept.

So overall, so far, so good. Games drought looks a bit worrying but hopefully they'll fix that.

First and foremost, Welcome to GAF :)
Loading times could be shorter (they will) but doesn't bother me much also.

Nintendoland is a fun little game, I'm surprised at how much I like it too. Zelda, pikmin, Mario chase, animal crossing and metroid are my favorites so far. (I'm a lil OCD, so I want to earn everything in those before moving on) I've played other stuff with the wife and kids, and its a great lil party game, but way deeper than mini game collection.

Had my first hard lock yesterday using Hulu Plus. :/

Well, i took the plunge and bought the ZombiU pack today and it should turn up tomorrow at some point ready to play with over the weekend. I'm a bit aprehensive that i will find the niggles with the machine to be really annoying but i've heard so many good reports from people who are just having fun with theirs that i had to jump in.

First launch console i've bought so soon after launch since the Gamecube which i got at launch.
I'm a little concerned about the lack of appealing software on the horizon but hopefully things will be a little more rosy after E3. I'm a PC gamer so i'm covered anyway and i bought this for the Nintendo games mainly so decent 3rd Party stuff will be a boon.

I've got ZombiU and Nintendoland. Anything else recommended in the UK?

Bought my 8 year old son a Wii U for Xmas; also picked up Black Ops 2 for myself. We've enjoyed Nintendo land, NSMBU as well as BO2 quite a bit. NSMBU is awesome as it provides a very good challenge. Nintendo land is an amazing multi player game that makes it easy for me to enjoy games with my young son. Mario Chase really proves how simple games really can be the most fun.

I really look forward to future updates and hope the eShop and VC live up to my expectations. The system is great and I love the Gamepad and off TV play.

I'm glad to know that I'm not reading purely dissatisfied buyers. HMm, I wonder when will a Tales of game launch for a Wii U and what FF titles will be available. Also, does Ninty have an exclusive deal with Dragon Quest? I think DQ has not been released for other platforms for quite a while.

Has anyone tried out the Netflix Super HD or 3D with their WiiU? At&t isn't apart of netflix open connect to I won't be getting super HD till i switch ISP.

Every time I boot Sonic Racing Transformed I have to mute the TV because the intro screen is so damn loud

Searching for humbleseagoat yields no results. Confirm NNID, please.

Still loving using the browser on the gamepad. Havent actually played a game since before new year (due to Mass Effect 2 and other commitments) but i use the browser every day!!

Yes, I'm pretty busy myself, but I agree, the browser is great when you don't have a tablet-like device in your living room (and even with a tablet, in fact, I like the stylus, and also the dual analog/buttons controls... my only gripe is that the input box becomes quite small with the keyboard on screen)

Also, does Ninty have an exclusive deal with Dragon Quest? I think DQ has not been released for other platforms for quite a while.
No, they haven't.

The Enix policy has always been "release DQ as an exclusive for the most popular console in Japan". The only exception has been the announcement of Dragon Quest on PSX circa the N64 launch. If what I've read is true, Squaresoft wanted to leave Nintendo for a couple of reasons (Super Mario RPG dividends, royalties, allocation policies on large carts, N64 SDK, etc.) but feared that the RPG market could be split, and with Sony, they convinced Enix to make an announcement before it was clear that PSX would finish at the top. It's probably the greatest "betrayalton" for Nintendo.

Besides that, they sticked to releases late in a generation on the most popular machine, thus PSX, PS2, NDS, Wii... Don't expect anything related to Wii U or PS4 soon if they don't change their policy. 3DS maybe.

Quite possible the Wii U and PS4 won't matter. The 3DS will most likely be more popular then entire of them and by a wide margin with the way things are going. Fully expect Dragon Quest 11 to be announced for the 3DS once the Wii U version of Dragon Quest X is out in Japan. Then we see if Sony can revive the Vita and perhaps keep it healthy enough to go up against Nintendo's next handheld. Or if the 3DS ends up having the life span of the GameBoy and DS. If it looks lik it will, no reason to think it won't, then Dragon Quest 12 could end up on it as well. Then it becomes about where Dragon Quest 13 goes.

This is my first HD console so when I booted up Arkham Asylum and started getting amongst its integration with the gamepad I felt all feelings of buyers remorse fade from my mind.

I've completed all the games I bought at launch and don't really feel interested in anything thats out now. Demos would go a long way towards keeping me happy, but overall as of right now, I'm very pleased with the experience.

Got a Wii U for christmas, Nintendo Land is way better than I expected, I thought it would be some kind of tech-demos put together, but actually is a very solid product with great games, the Yoshi one is fantastic.

Also got NSMBU, I think it's the best NSMB to date, the first DS one was good, and the Wii one meh, this one has way better map design imo.

Regarding the machine itself, the updates take forever to download and install, but that's about the only negative thing I have to say so far, I like the Miiverse, and the screen in the gamepad has better IQ than expected, I hope there is some new battery to extend its life, I have to recharge it everyday, some days even twice.

Btw, I migrated mi Wii to the Wii U, I have two questions:

- The stuff bought from the Wii shop can only be accessed in Wii mode?
- I had 500 points in the Wii shop, I can't redeem them in the Wii U shop?

Thanks guys!

Every time I boot Sonic Racing Transformed I have to mute the TV because the intro screen is so damn loud

I posted it on Nintendo's tech forum yesterday. No answer yet.

Google search doesn't give me any information on it at all.

The sound is all over the place on the Wii U.

In Madden 13, randomly the left channel stops working. I thought it was a faulty connection but I ran the speaker test through the receiver and it's just fine.

- Yes
- You can't. Like for instance I have 200 pts on the Wii shop but it doesn't count towards Wii U eShop purchases.

I like the Wii U. My problem right now is the lack of games. I have nintendo land, NSMB U and Sonic racing. Super mario bros feels to much like I have played it before, Nintendo land isn't to fun when you are one player. I really like sonic racing, but i'm not in a racing game mood right now. My Wii U hasn't been used much the last couple of weeks, I'm waiting for som good adventure kind of game. The console is really good though.

The Walking Dead Wii U version confirmed

but not the one you were expecting

@$#&!

Fastest moment of joy and disappointment I've experienced in awhile.

So I bought batman and tekken last night, downloaded both overnight as I slept which was much quicker than I expected considering some people have taken 1-2 days for a single game.

But now batman is installing and it's literally taking a little more than an hour to finish. I wonder if using an external has anything to do with longer load times but in any case, woof.

I love my Wii U. I got it at launch, it locked up on me twice in one day a couple of weeks after I bought it, and then never again (fingers crossed). I think the slow OS complaints are overblown (except for the settings menu); they really haven't hampered my enjoyment of the console at all. Miiverse is nice for some of the artwork presented but otherwise doesn't offer me much. I also don't expect to use Netflix or TVii at all so those are extraneous features for me. Early days were spent with Nano Assault Neo and Nintendoland, of late I've been playing NSMBU a fair amount.

Based on the hardware alone this is probably my favorite console ever. I need to see some more games before proclaiming that with confidence but it's got a ton of potential. I'm sure it will be overshadowed for a lot of people by the other new consoles later this year but I expect this one will provide more of the kind of game experiences that I prefer.

I'm kind of surprised by Nintendo Land. Didn't think much of it after E3 2012, but seriously Battle Quest, Metroid Blast and Pikmin Adventure are fun. The latter really caught me by surprise. Such a addictive little game.

Btw, I'd might get a new Wii U title next week; I'll hold off on NSMB U (playing NSMB 2 every now and then, completed Paper Mario Sticker Star a few weeks ago) So I'm torn right now; Batman Arkham City of Tekken Tag Tournament 2? The latter looks amazing, but I'm afraid that the online community might be too small at this point. I love Batman btw.

I'm really happy with my Wii U
but I just noticed something that really surprised me
Last night, I tried to change the disk inside the console so I just pressed the Eject Button.
my surprise?... Wii U turned on... I mean.. why?

I was expecting it was the same as the Wii where you press the Eject button and the disk pops out but that's it. It doesn't turn on.

Not a deal breaker at all but I wasn't expecting it either lol
definitely a step back from Wii

Do what I did and buy both :-D

I just have to say that I love the WiiU Pro controller.

I got it about a month ago and it's just been sitting there, fully charged. Decided to play some blops with it last night.

Wow! It's almost perfect.

Today I was reading a book in my bad room and my daughter want to watch their cartoons in netflix in the living room. So I pick my gamepad and bring it to my room. From there I choose the cartoons she wants to watch without need to living my bad.

Wii U, helping the lazy men to became even more lazy. hehehee

Yeah I find that annoying as well. It's the same on the xbox 360 as well.

I have also had strange issues with sound, although mainly with Zombi U. I have noticed a few times the dude giving my survivor directions voice will become so low I am unable to hear a word being spoken. I am forced to turn on subtitles just so I can progress in the game.

bought Tekken Tag 2 today, but for some reason amazon.uk is expecting to deliver as late as the 17th.

By then I wanted to be the king of the iron fist!

I second you on that: I discovered yesterday playing with the Pro Controller in FIFA gets rid of framerate issues.

I was a huge Nintendo fan back in the day SNES, 64, Cube however I pretty much skipped the Wii.

I had one but it just didn't grab me. The fugly graphics really hurt as I was all about the HD back then.

I THINK my GF has bought me a WiiU for my birthday and I am really excited! Can't wait to see Mario in HD and the inevitable Metroid and Zelda games!!

I ended up picking up Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Is there any way to play Transformed off-screen? Bit disappointing if I can't.

Loving both. Bit worried about how the lack of analogue triggers might play out for "serious" racing games in the future, though.

Also, I have to laugh at Digital Foundry sometimes. I went there out of curiosity and they were like "Some chickens are missing." I didn't even notice. Seriously, most of the stuff they obsess about they need tools to even pick up.

Even funnier when someone pointed out that some of the graphical omissions, like no snow on that Arctic stage, were actually asked for by players.

Might pick up a pro controller next. Do they come in white?

So far I don't regret buying a Wii U. It was an impulse buy anyway. And good games will come for sure. I hated motion controls, so that's mostly gone at least. I thought I would play some FPS games on Wii U, but after trying Zombi U I realized again how terrible dual analogue controls are compared mouse and keyboard. It really boggles my mind that millions play COD or Halo on consoles, online even.

Re Hard locks:

Is this when the controller seems to be unresponsive and the game carries on without input and even the home button doesn't work, even though the screen is still on (usually resulting in the character getting beaten up and dying)? I had this on Darksiders II a couple of times.

Does anyone have the Tekken Wii U fighting stick in here? I'm thinking about picking 2 up for VC games + Tekken + Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Are they worth it at all, and is the button placement correct for most Neo Geo VC games?
