I don't use HM slaves. I carefully plan and distribute HM uses over six permanent party members. Except for rock climb.
jeez, Cut and Strength? Oh the horror.

but Bidoof can't learn Surf or Strength yet
in fact Bidoof is even more useless because he can't be a HM slave
only Bibarel can be
but anyway I'll continue reading
...
mehhh Bidoof is also a reason for the trainer losing cash for Repels
so it evens out
Nothing wrong with this.I don't use HM slaves. I carefully plan and distribute HM uses over six permanent party members. Except for rock climb.
I really hope Rotation Battles and Triple Battles get a bigger focus.
jeez, Cut and Strength? Oh the horror.
I beat the elite 4 with an hm slave, 3 eggs, lvl 16 pichu and my evenly lvled starter... by accident
Strength's a good move... I have no defense for cut.jeez, Cut and Strength? Oh the horror.
Story time.
I used to do this until gen IV came around, then I became a merciless tyrant towards my pokemon.I don't use HM slaves. I carefully plan and distribute HM uses over six permanent party members. Except for rock climb.

But they didn't move boulders, it was just a quirk of mine.Everything that learns Strength can also learn Return or Frustration, which are both stronger...

Isn't this entirely dependent on how much your pokemon likes you? When you're playing through the game that seems like to much effort to go through (hell even in the end game it is). Even if they are stronger strength is still a fairly strong move that can last you until the end game. Cut is pretty much useless no matter how early you get it.
Nah I say if you got the Pokemon before the 1st badge, it should be in heat and its thoughts filled with just you by the time you get your 3rd badge.

That's exactly what happened with togepi.Nah I say if you got the Pokemon before the 1st badge, it should be in heat and its thoughts filled with just you by the time you get your 3rd badge.
At the very least, I guess all it would take to max out friendship is running back and forth for hours and hours and hours. It's incredibly easy to max out friendship in Gen V. I had Lucario, Crobat and Leavanny all before I faced Burgh.

I think that's the 3rd time someone's username quoted me today. New record![]()

Winning battles, leveling up, walking, soothe bells...
Using a Pokemon regularly pretty much guarantees it'll be max friendship. Plus there's always Join Avenue and the massage lady if you're in a hurry.

This all adds unnecessary work for me. To raise a decent party you already have to go through breeding pokemon moves, finding a pokemon with a decent IV's, giving the pokemon EV's and then actually raising the pokemon. I don't want things to happen instantly but i wish things weren't so difficult and time consuming >.<
WOWDiamond Version: Ok so I was trying to hatch these eggs while leveling my Pichu with experience share. I had my Bidoof (maybe lvl 44-sh) who I always kept with me because I'm not an evil slave tyrant. My Starter was Empoleon with Surf, Brine, Steel Wing and something else I believe, maybe peck? I was leveling my party so each pokemon was evenly leveled. Empoleon was probably 58 from what I remember.
So when I play pokemon I conform to a strict policy of using no health or condition healing items in battle. Unless a trainer use two of them, I will not use any of my own. Because I am better than them and their defeat must be that much more humiliating. But I did break this rule, of course they are using items out the wazoo anyways.
So anyways, I went to the elite 4 so I could have some fun while experience sharing my Pichu up and I wanted to see how far I could go. I ended up getting farther than I ever did with my serious party completely by accident. I think I was stuck on the second trainer. But anyways I got past that trainer finally (Ground i think)
Empoleon was my front man and did much of the heavy lifting, but had a breeze getting through the 3rd fire trainer, though it was a close one. And similarly with the 4th psychic trainer. Who I thought I would be losing to. With each win I started taking this whole play through more and more seriously, even if I wasn't expecting to win I wanted to go further.
What I remember the most is the battle with the champion. It took forever!!! But I was super determined as I was pulling off a miracle. My strategy was to nuke with surf until I got under 50% health, which I would then switch to Brine which its power gets up. Then when your under a third of your health you moves also get upped in a pinch. (this was my strategy through most of the previous trainers too btw) So brine was incredibly useful especially with maxed pp. When I was close to dying I would swap in Bidoof to heal up and then throw Empoleon back out. Eventually I started healing Bidoof and not attacking until I got the boosted attack at low health. It was the slowest thing ever.
Eventually Empolean was knocked out, as was Bidoof. It was the final pokemon of Cynthia and all I had left was my Pichu. I used him to take a blow and try to revive Empoleon, and IT WORKED!!! I also used this time to revive my Bidoof back up to further heal my Empoleon but Bidoof once again fell quickly. This did buy me some precious HP. Eventually I won with only a shred of my HP left.
Seeing my party victory portrait was the funniest thing ever. All those eggs. Oh and it was a Biberal but fuck it i'm not correcting every use of Bidoof in that story now xD

Damn, that's really cool.I didn't miss all the shiny talk did I????
Best shiny is best shiny:

...if you're going through the work of breeding then you're probably raising a competitive team and it's kind of beyond the point of using HMs for any in-game purpose.
Damn, that's really cool.
This makes me sad really that double battles may already be taking a back seat.
Double Battles were a bigger focus in 5th gen then the new stuff, it needs to take a seat.
fuck yeah Empoleon. What a nice feel-good story.
Do you peeps think that Nintendo will have a demo available on the e-shop for these games?
Speaking of trailers... is there a 3D version of the X/Y trailer on the eShop? I haven't checked yet and my 3DS isn't handy at the moment. But I would love to see itDoubt it. Best we can hope for are trailers...and maybe some sort of new app.

That's so lameNope. It's just the same Nintendo/Pokémon Direct video like on YouTube.
It can change to order in which you learn moves.
Example. Evolving Growlithe to Arcanine early and you can learn Extreme Speed with Arcanine. But wait, and Growlithe can learn Flamethrower which Arcanine cannot. But then you lose out on Extreme Speed.
Other than that, you are just delaying the big boost in base stats that evolving causes.
I've always had kind of a weird perspective on Bidoofs, because my only exposure to them was in one of the side stories in Explorers of Sky, where you played as one who got to beat up Jirachi.
