It's amazing.

Had some frame rate issues at launches but they have since been fixed in a patch. It has lots and lots of content and a full online suite. Good trophies. Good controls. Great track design.

It's the best portable kart racer since mario kart DS
Framerate issues are definitely still there and it should be noted that virtually nobody is playing the Vita version online.

I'm about half way through the campaign and haven't had any significant issues at all. Maybe if it gets hectic its dropped like 3-4 frames but it doesn't matter.

As for online it's low pop sure but I wouldn't say no one, I've got in a match in a couple of minutes every time

I know this is not the hardware topic, but it is the most active and maybe someone knows these two cases/pouches?!

Noreve PS Vita Case:

Sony_Playstation_Vita_case_black.jpg

I am a sucker for great leather and this would add two layers of nice leather when holding the PS Vita (like the PD Air did for the PSP which helps a lot with big hands). But I am not sure how the Vita is held tight and if it could be easily removed when playing games that need the rear touch. It is from St. Tropez and would be 60€ made with the top leather.

Waterfield Cityslicker:

This looks nice and rough and I don't need to think about the rear touch problem. BUt I usually don't like pouches, as they add too much bulk and I don't really need any extra space for cards. Would be the alternative if the Noreve is just impractical. Would also be some 60€ with shipping to Europe.

So anyone here owning one of these and willing to give some impressions? Thanks!

So, what are the new Vitabro's top 5 Vita games?

In no particular order. ( but I'll add numbers anyway lol ).

1. Hot shots golf.
2. LBP 2.
3. Wipeout
4. Mutant Blobs
5. MGS HD.
6. Surge, deserves a mention too.

It has to be said I'm looking forward to Persona 4 but it hasn't hit the UK shores yet.

Also as someone who never owned a PSP I'm balls deep in a back catalogue of PSP games atm.
Persona 3, Tactics Ogre to name a few. Those titles alone suck your life away.

Love the Vita's many facets.

I've read somewhere about Patterns campaign for Vita. ( Turn based War game ) Similar to the recent X-com I think in design. Squad based missions etc. I realise also this was a psp title but I'm not sure if its a remake or a new title or indeed if its now dead in the water.

Anyone know anything about its existence or am I loosing my marbles?

Cheers.

Hot Shots Golf is one of the games I received for Christmas, and I've played it every day since then thanks to the Daily Tournaments. Absolutely fantastic game.

Quick question on hotshots guys

Some tournaments, er, one actually, I've earned a crown. Others I've won but not unlocked a crown? What is the criteria for the Crown.

Thanks.

I bet there's a simple answer and I'm having a blonde moment.

You can import one from amazon.com or playasia. I like mine a lot, definitely recommended.

Playasia is pretty expensive and Amazon won't ship it to europe (at least not to germany).

Yeah, amazon US won't dispatch to Italy either, and playasia is expensive because they only have the japanese version. Checked VGP and it's on back order, hopefully they'll get some more in the future :(
I'm under the impression that Sony isn't producing any more cradles though. Sigh, I just LOVE docks and cradles for my stuff (in fact I was pretty bummed when Apple announced they would't produce an official iPhone 5 dock).

Done all the missions twice now. Just the 5km and 'buy everything' trophies left. Not sure if I can be bothered to collect 600k coins to buy everything though.

yeah thinking of buying a few coins to support the devs

I have a nice black iPhone 5 cradle from Hongkong via ebay de, which was < 10€ incl. shipping. It is exactly like the iPhone 4 cradle I had, surprised by the build quality.

Of course dynasty warriors has to have the grindiest trophies ever. I'm not sure how much I can do with all of these forced gimmicks in the game before it breaks me and makes me trade it in.

I imported my cradle at launch from ebay. It was £20 shipped.

I'll recommend it to everyone and I'm a bit paranoid about leaving the Vita on it's back all the time due to the touchpad.

It's the biggest thing that gets me through modern gaming.

As pathetic as it sounds, the first thing I do before starting a long game is check the miss-able trophies. Trophies/achievements really have changed how I play games. I guess the good side though is I'm compelled to get more out of my games.

I'm feeling guilty for not buying Valkyria Chronicles 2 when it originally came out. Aside from the slow start I'm having a great time with the game. There are arguably some other issues compared to the original VC, but I don't really mind them.
Too bad this is probably the last VC game I'll ever play.

Bububu VC3 fan translation is coming along fine :o. Just gotta hope there still is exploits for Vita around that time, maybe even something more permanent if that is even possible. I really want to let my PSP retire.

stupid Jetpack HD, it's a bit addicting
I expected it to last me about a hour and be another time waster game which I play for a littlebit bit then rarely play again, but I'm quite suprised. I've sunk in quite a lot of time on both the PS3 and Vita versions, it's very addicting.

The fly 5KM's in one run trophy is tough, I haven't even got past 3.7KM yet.

You can buy a "life pack" that gives you 3 lives. I'm not sure if it affects the trophy, but i dont think so. It is costy though, it cost 25,000 coins.

EDIT: It seems that it might not be possible to use all 3 lives in one round.

I made it to 4970M :/

Just discovered a full PS3 version too so I can properly melt my eyeballs

Can only use one at the end though I think. I bought a pack of three final blasts, hoping to use them in sequence but it won't let you.

Oh ok, thanks for the info. That is a pity.

Getting to 5k meters is a bit of luck too. When i made it, i got a new vehicle pickup every 500 meters at the end there, then the speed slows down.

I try to avoid looking up the trophy list in detail to avoid spoilers since people put tons of story related stuff as trophies nowadays. I have no problem going back and playing a game over for missable trophies as long as they're not ridiculously tough/grindy and the game is half decent.

This DW game though I don't know how much I'll bother doing. The guide estimates it'll take 100 hours and I'm pretty sure 100 hours of doing touch boss battles for every single battle, motion and flicking minigames, and horrible rear touch (seriously Sony this thing HAS to go in a Vita re-design) calligraphy minigames is going to drive me insane.

Cross-posting from the GT5 thread:

I dreamt last night that I was staying at a hotel and Kazunori Yamauchi was there too. I asked him about GT Vita and he showed it to me. It had 700+ cars, but only 45 of them had interiors. The handling was the same as GT5.

I'm a bit confused about the reception of (the Vita version of) this one. I'm interested in getting the game on some platform or other, and if the Vita port was good I'd obviously prefer that because of portability and.. uh, well.. VITA POWER!! But there are very few professional reviews specifically of the Vita versions, and the feedback on forums is extremely divisive - some people saying, just like you are, that it's a great port that is, for all intents and purposes, up to the level of the console versions, and other people saying that it's got horrible framerate drops and 3DS style graphics.
Could we maybe get additional opinions from the ever-reliable VitaGAFers to settle this issue?
I honestly thing people who say it has 3DS graphics have a massive misconception of what the Vita is capable of (and a great exaggeration of what the 3DS can do - we'll see when its neutered release comes around). Sonic Racing, in motion, is probably amongst the best the Vita is going to get. Rendering that much track (and they are massive tracks with crazy amounts of detail and full view distance), and 8 players at native resolution is taxing.

You have a couple people like TimmiT that can find some really nasty screenshots (like Wreck it Ralph's face), but you only ever see that post race.

Drools...

Please Sony

I was wondering something similar if it would be possible for Sony to drop the rear touchpad in the next re-design, but i think it will be impossible concidering that many games already use it. It would require that all those games will be patched with alternative controls. It would be no problems where games uses it for alternative controls (like Jetpack Joyride and Puddle), but games like Escape Plan and Little Big Planet Vita uses it mandatory, so it would be impossible to complete those games without a rear touchpad. Hopefully for Sony's sake, that rear touchpad isnt adding a lot to the manufacturer costs of the Vita.

Not to mention it's way better image quality on the Vita compared to the sub-HD console versions.

The dumbest thing is that trophy that requires 4 player local multi.

I could pick it up and put 1000 hours into, and I would never get the platinum because I don't know a single other person with a Vita.

I have barely seen anyone walking around with a Vita. I feel like I'm the only one doing that even though ads on TV proudly shows people walking around with it.
