Did you just imply that JoJo has no manly men? I think you're gonna be torn to shreds.
Haha, I love JoJos btw. It was a joke about fabulous it is, though not necessarily in the Capcom game.

It was on the front page for, I'd argue, 90% of its run time, and was rotated off occasionally due to competing event placement as it was a busy weekend. What you recall was one of those moments where someone noticed this and people decided to go crazy.
And Ben is right. The fighting game scene doesn't know how to market their own events correctly. Neither do a lot of LoL, DoTA, StarCraft, Smash.. essentially, a lot of competitive gaming tournaments and leagues. Even MLG, IPL and their ilk are guilty of this. If I can't go to the major hub of a scene or tournament and not immediately find the who, what, where and when of an event, that's a huge problem. It's part of my job to know all these details and when I can't manage to pull this off, I can't imagine what it's like for your average fan.
All in due time.Uh... there are no manly men in Skullgirls.
MLP, Fighting is Magic is in a unique situation. The game has no official release date, and it’s not clear if the game will be ready in time for players to get up to speed in time for Evo 2013. For the Mane6 team, this contest represents and artificial deadline. We don’t want to put any undo pressure on them to release anything but their best effort when it’s ready. So, after talking to the Mane6 guys, we’ve decided to handle FiM slightly differently.
First, FiM will be back in a big way at the Evo 2013 Indie Gaming Showcase (spoiler, the Indie Gaming Showcase from Evo 2012 returns in 2013!). This year we will have multiple setups so a lot more players will get a crack at the game. This is 100% happening regardless of the results of the donation drive, and we’re happy to have the game back for a second year.
Next, we’re removing FiM from the running for the 8th Evo game. If FiM finishes with the most money donated, we will take the game with the second highest donations as the 8th Evo game. But, should FiM win the donation drive, Evo will sponsor an exhibition tournament and run it out of the Indie Gaming Showcase. The top 8 players from the exhibition will fight it out on stage and stream, like previous Evo exhibitions.
One more thing. As you can see, so far the FiM guys are kicking everyone else’s tails (I’m sure there’s a pony pun in there somewhere). So let’s make things a little more interesting. Evo will provide a $1000 bonus to the first place game. If a game manages to take down FiM and come out on top of the donation drive, Evo will spike the tournament pot for $1000. If FiM wins, the $1000 will go towards prizes for their exhibition.
Current Donation Drive Top 10 Standings, 1/13/2013
1. MLP, Fighting is Magic: $3,519.50
2. Super Smash Bros. Melee: $1,404.32
3. Skullgirls: $814.22
4. Guilty Gear XX, Accent Core Plus : $767.90
5. Soul Calibur V: $387.41
6. Divekick: $343.95
7. Dead or Alive 5: $202.69
8. Blazblue: $200.00
9. Virtua Fighter 5: $191.00
10. Super Smash Bros. Brawl: $155.00
Ah, so Fighting is Magic can't become the 8th game since it's not completed yet, but if it wins, we'll get a special pony exhibition tournament in addition to the other 8 main tournaments?
That seems like a reasonable call. Isn't it standard EVO practice that a game must have been out for a certain amount of time before it can be a tournament? Also, I'd imagine the Mane6 team might have had a hoof in this behind the scenes.
Short version: Vote ponies for even more EVO time. Can you imagine EVO with both Melee and ponies? That'd be fun to watch.
Basically EVO will have a few open set ups for people to try out MLP. If MLP does indeed win then they will pick the best 8 player at the pony station and have them play in a exhibition on the main stage. They did the same thing with MVC3 when it was first announced.
Or you could use the awesome IPW Stream ListI just use the EH stream tracker to keep an eye on what's up stream wise. http://www.eventhubs.com/streams/

Melee is leading behind MLP? CvS2 and Third Strike are nowhere to be found? There is no justice in this world.[/QUOTE]
uh, CvS2 and 3S never made it past the 500 vote threshold, so you can't really vote for those.
Not exactly. MLP will not have an official tournament being run on the main stage or streamed (by the main stream anyways). It'll be part of the Indie Showcase the organizers started last year. If it does win though there will be an exhibition tournament and the top 8 of that tournament will be streamed and played on the main stage. So now 9 games will be in? I'm okay with this.

Currently at $60 and $65 respectively.

Sakurai will watch and decide that you didn't get the hint from Brawl.I didn't know company donations were banned. That's cool. Now I feel like Melee has an actual chance of winning.
And I really hope it does.
And I really hope Nintendo watches.
Melee hype is right up there with MvC so I'd love to see it on stage.
Did it have an item ruleset the last time it was at EVO?

9 stage games? So EVO is just never going to end this year? I'm okay with this.

I don't know if it was last time, but one year they did, and the melee community raged. EVO has confirmed it won't be there should melee win, though.

How is a unreleased gamed beating all these other games? Many which have proven to be great spectator games.
A MLP game at that?!
It is the anti-hype.
Those numbers seem kinda low for the donations.
If I was any of these companies with games still purchasable I would proxy donate (Since no company donate) and get my game into the stage. 5K for that kind of publicity seems pretty cheap.
11,000+ viewers last night and many, many attending FGC members would disagree with you.
