yeah im stuck there... i needed something to beat so i skipped ahead and beat i think 5-4. thats easy cause its a megacup tourny.

still stuck though on the rest of the silvers.

I put it on easy mode and the best I've done so far is 3rd place. Restarted halfway through probably 30+ times now because of the ball bouncing off a rock into the water or getting knocked back down into a sand trap several times. The rare few times I manage to get on the green with a chance for a birdie or even just par, my complete lack of skill at putting does me in.

Okay, I feel like I really need an explanation:

Can somebody explain the whole scoreboard to me in Hot Shots Golf? How does it decide how many points I get? What does the -1, +3 etc. means? The lower the better? And what is the triangle, square symbols for?

The score is how many strokes under or over par you are. If you hit par every time, your score will be zero. So, since you want to use a few strokes as possible, lower scores are better. The symbols are representations of getting par, a birdie, a bogey, etc. on that hole. I think there's a list either on one of the loading screen tips or in the manual that says what each one is.

I went to my local Best Buy today to pick up a new Keyboard. I wondered through the Game section to see what was new and to hope that the 32gb memcard was on sale.... They had a total of 4 psv games on their shelf. :( (To be fair their entire game section was pretty weak except for skylander had more shelf space than the entire ps3 section)

Damnit Best Buy, and you wonder why you cant compete with online vendors or even wal-mart.. >:(

Anyways, this made me sad a little, can anyone bring me up with any news of any type of RPG coming to the Vita? Rather to North America Vita?

Only thing on the horizon i can think of is class of heroes 2, which is more dungeon crawler. That and its a PSP game. Still something to look forward to!

Yeah, I had an idea the less strokes the better. I always end up at Par or Bogey. And sometimes when I put the power bar at the red marking it either goes too slow or too long to hit the hole.

I don't have a manual. =(

I'll try the Challenge mode again now. I ended up at 20th on Challenge 1-2. =/

lol, wow. Completely clueless about golf, huh? :O
Kind of, it have never been my sports but I love playing Hot Shots Golf.

You access the manual by clicking the red book icon on the game's home screen.

Play it all over again!

Persona fans have been doing that for years.

Persona 3! Persona FES! Persona 4! P3P! P4 Golden!

There were also the 2 PSP remakes of the 2 Persona 2 games. I have not gotten around to any version of Persona 2 though, so i can't really say how similar they are.

No one added me, I declare you all "Vitapunks" :(

I'll add you i have times on every single track. Some are more competitive than others (i didn't do well with apocalypse... not at all).

Updated. We have our 16 for the first tournament (assuming everyone still is committed). If people are still interested though, toss out your name. If someone doesn't come through, we can add you in. Otherwise, it will help me make sure you are given priority to participate in Vitabro 2.

I'll do a random drawing and set up some brackets later tonight, post in here and send out a mass PM to those involved.

Just add me to the next list. ID: CometsStar
Good luck to all participants i the one coming up.

Crovak pretty much explained it all. The only thing i see missing is Score/Prize. Prize being the bonus points that you win at the end based on how you place. Points is the total amount of points you have earned while playing the round (Par = 100 pts, Birdie = 200) those are usually the bigger portion of your points, but you also get them for getting on the fairway with your first drive (or the green if you are on a Par 3). And when you are hitting onto the green the 3 circles around the hole appear, if you are getting on there like your 2nd or 3rd shot getting inside will give you points (the closer the circle, the more points you get). All these points can be used to buy stuff from the store, and that's all that i know of unless there is some secret thing closer to the end of the game. I'm only on like the 4th level of challenge mode i think.

Thanks. It have been half a year since I played it last. :)

And with I almost made my first hole-in-one in Practice but the ball jumped up again.

I'm now doing Easy mode in the Challenge mode.

Also, if I hit Par all the time and a Par gives 100 points, why will my score remain at zero?

Do any vita games come with paper manuals?

Some of my friends really didn't like the classic shot UI, but they like some of the ones you can buy from the store. You have to unlock them still (i don't know exactly how stuff appears in the store), but you might want to look into that if you are just struggling with impact on the classic system.

edit: sucks on the hole in one. I've not really been close at all to a hole in one, but I make a lot of chip-ins.

Did you unlock the 4 missing Supercar races in the festival yet Frosty?

Yeah -- if you guys told me it was supercar races that I was missing, it would have made more sense -- apparently you need to beat all the tracks at least with 1 medal and then you'll unlock the supercar. Once I did that, each festival got +12 medals and the Wipeout track showed up. These things are hard.

Nah, I'm used to this classic shot UI. No need for more new things, I'm already struggling but I guess practice makes better. Anyone up for a HSG room later? You can watch me play and comment on it. Anyone? :)

Yeah, I had forgotten that requirement.

Anastacio, you may already know this, but you can take a screenshot at any time by pressing the PS button + Start. Just in case you don't want to take a picture of your vita in the future

I actually forgot how and as the girlfrend is sleeping right besides me I just wanted a quick solution. Also didn't know how to upload the picture to GAF from Vita haha. :)

Your score and Par Pace is totally different.

+/- 0 column is your par pace. The lower (-'s) the better. The 100/200/2000+ score is your points you earn at the end of the tournament, IIRC. Being on Par Pace and doing shots that don't land in the water or sandtrap will increase this.

Alright, Chronovolt 100%'d and swiftly deleted. Time to move on with my life. And by move on I mean P4G.

These fusion/skill card/shuffle changes are amazing.

But still, Chie : (

Yeah, it was just more convenient doing it with iPhone heh. But thanks for the suggestions.

It probably was more convenient, because the fastest way i can think of uploading it.

Take Screenshot -> Wifi picture to computer -> upload using computer -> post picture here.

I don't like the vita browser, and I don't use flickr. My vita and computer don't communicate well either (i think my wifi likes seeing how long it takes to tell my vita that my computer has internet access).

Well I just took a picture with iPhone 5 > uploaded with the Imgupr app and then just pasted the link here on NeoGAF. Real quick. :)

I'm seriously thinking of just ordering Lumines from Amazon right away...

So I've never played a Persona or SMT game ever, and Persona 4 is not out in sweden, but I found that Persona 1 for PSP is on sale right now for 5€. How good is that game, is it a good introduction to the series? Worth 5€?

I haven't booted up HS in about 2 weeks, but Anastacio are you talking about each hole? Your score says 0 on the UI, because I'm pretty sure on each hole part of the UI kept track of your score for that individual hole.

If so that would make sense because even if you hit pars that score will stay 0. Because the last you will see that score is before you make your last shot. Then it will do the animation, and the screen will be like Par +100 or Birdie +200 or something similar. And then you move on to the next hole, at this point the counter will reset for the next hole, so you get to the next tee and your Score says 0 again.

I think this is what's happening or i'm just crazy, and in need of more hs playing time.

It's good, but in an esoteric old-school RPG kind of way. It doesn't really stand as a good introduction to Persona 3 and 4.

It's definitely worth the money, but keep in mind what you're getting, and if you don't like it, don't let that steer you away from the later games.

Am I missing this tourney? Oh well, I'll play the next one.

Anastacio's golf naivety is kinda adorable for someone who was so eager to play it, lol :)

Hope you guys in the EU are all getting P4G day one..

I was thinking about getting a platformer. Maybe Rayman or LBP. But I'm in the midst of the grind that is Sly 3, and I'm planning on getting Thieves in Time when it hits next month. So now I'm thinking, probably a racing game. It's between NFS and Sonic & Sega All-Stars. What's everyone think? I don't mind if it's more realistic or more exaggerated. I also would be open to getting the Sonic game on PS3 at a later, where, I've been told, it's largely superior in every way.

My least favorite thing about Hot Shots Golf is that even the UI is sub-native res.

Man that's hard to choose. Both are fantastic on Vita. And Sonic Racing is not largely superior in every way on PS3 at all. It has less shaders but better image quality (See my comparison between the Wii U version - which is just like the PS3 version - and the Vita version), 8 players online instead of 10, and I believe that's it.

Im down for a quick game of HSG, it will help me practice for the tournament since i havent played in a long time. I might also start playing again this time on easy. I stopped playing once it became impossible and didnt want to put it on Easy so i just left it. Will try again and see how far i can get on easy.

Ok, I know we've talked a lot about how bad Chronovolt is, but I don't think anyone has really detailed why. So I'm going to take this opportunity and answer the questions no one asked:

1) The game controls like complete ass. It's a ball rolling game, similar to Marble Blast Ultra, which requires a degree of precision to be competent. Instead the ball can become super squirrely, often launching itself off in an unwanted direction at the slightest press of the stick.

2) The camera is horrendous. It's impossible to set up a decent view for any length of time, which means you are constantly babysitting it. It frequently gets caught in the terrain above you and randomly tries to reset itself in a different direction, altering your controls and sending your ball off a cliff.

3) There is a rewind function in the game. The game never tells you this. It actually becomes required in later levels, but again, the game never mentions it exists. If it did, it's buried in the throwaway text boxes that you'll be skipping through as fast as possible. There certainly isn't an introduction situation to introduce you to the mechanic like the other two powers. I only discovered it existed in the second world because I looked at a trophy guide. It actually goes a long way to making the game semi-tolerable, because you can rewind your mistakes sands-of-time style. Granted all your mistakes are because the controls suck so bad. Speaking of powers, the other powers like to activate on their own, probably as a result of my fingers coming into contact with the back panel. Why the game supports the back panel is a mystery, unless they intended for me to hate their game.

4) The level design is garbage. Checkpoints actually screw you over more than they benefit you. Most of the levels don't even have checkpoints, even those that several minutes long. The ones that do have no problem checkpointing you in an impossible-to-win scenario, where you are given an arbitrary time limit from that checkpoint to finish the level. It is often entirely possible to reach these checkpoints before the game intends you to, where you will find yourself with seconds to finish the level, but missing keys to locked doors that you now have no way of getting. In a hilarious twist of poor level design, however, many of the locked doors can be rolled around, bypassing the need to get a key at all.

5) The music is generic, but not completely offensive. However the many sound glitches, where annoying sound effects will loop endlessly, are.

6) There is a story. All the story does is serve to interrupt your game at random points to throw more useless dialogue boxes at you. To make it even worse, the ending of the game literally just consists of the lines "I think we messed up the timeline. I guess it's to be continued?". The bad guy may or may not have gotten away, there wasn't really enough of an ending to tell.

Explains it well. The only thing I like is some of the art and the fact that the graphics are great. The game itself, though, is just straight up bad.

Add me if you don't already have me.
PSN: Anastacio

Don't do it! You've bought too much already, play what you have.

Me please. Some shit went down tonight and I need to take my mind off of it somehow.
Yeah, you're totally right. I'll forget about that plan.
I'll enjoy my MGS: HD Collection, PS All-Stars and LBP while also having review copies.

Any tips on these things? That car is a paperweight on methamphetamines.

no prob, bob.

Just practice honestly.
Each track has different strategies and its been a while since I played those particular ones. I think this game has made me curse more than any other game ever has.

Some you can just keep on driving barely slowing down while others you'll have to break effectively.

Ya'll are playing Hot Shots right now? I'll join up. Let me get into the lobby.

Well, I'm in the Dog Lobby 1 lobby. Let me know when you guys show up?
