I have a tremendous amount of faith in Sony despite some major missteps by them this generation. The hacking scandal, the 599 price point, and PSN being total garbage at launch are probably the most egregious things I can think of. To be fair, PSN has improved by leaps and bounds and I'm positive that PSN on the PS4 is going to be an even bigger improvement. I thought that Playstation Plus was one of the gems of this generation in terms of features and free software. The PS4 will come packed with a headset (I wouldn't be surprised if they bit the bullet and included an official Sony Bluetooth headset in every console) and that will definitely help build their online community from the onset.
The smartest thing they did this generation was invest in companies such as Sucker Punch and Media Molecule. I think that is going to pay off for them big time. I also like the fact that they seemed to invest in new IPs at a higher clip than their competitors. You're probably going to see less exclusive software from Sony when it comes to the PS4 and they'll likely invest in even meatier game experiences while focusing on larger marketing budgets. At this point, I'm expecting The Last Guardian to be ported over to the PS4 as a potential launch title (my theory is that the game WAS in development hell and they chose to hold onto the title once they finally wrapped their heads around the performance issues). I think that an early GT6 release (within the first year, even if it is a gimped version that eventually builds on itself through exorbitant amounts of DLC) is imperative to their success overseas. The PS3 had a pretty weak year one in terms of software and I think the biggest advantage they have over Microsoft is that they can a lot of sterling first party software releases during the PS4's first year. I think that GG, Sucker Punch, Media Molecule, Santa Monica, and even Naughty Dog have been tinkering with the PS4 for months, and even years, now.
