Dead Space 3 demo available for 360 and PS3

I wonder if the demo will be able to be uploaded so others can redownload like demos in the past. I did fill in the Origin form but still no email.

If I get the email code I'll upload it for you guys. Might do a stream as well.

Well shit. I knew the demo was coming today but was unaware that I had to jump through hoops before today in order to play it. I'm sure it will be dumped at some point but I might as well just keep playing RE6 and Tera until next week rather than reformatting a memory stick again.

Someone should make a Dead Space 3 demo impression thread, I need to know if this is a horror game or a "blockbuster" title. I know its just a demo, but its the developer's job to represent their game well in this demo.

The demo is too short to really get a grip on which one, but it seems to be more action focused than the earlier titles.

Will be interesting to read impressions, especially after all the fuss over co-op and shootbang the game has had, I just hope it isn't a disappointment after both DS1 and 2 were both great, just in different ways.

Doesn't sound like good news so far though.

How so?
I don't like the idea behind timed exclusive demos for games that are multi-platform with no real reason behind the delay, so while I can't "speak with my wallet" over a demo I can just download it on a different platform and not support the practice, regardless of how little it will affect anything at all, lol.

100% blockbuster. A lot of needless additions, cover system, explosions everywhere, etc. I think I'm not gonna give this one a chance, even though I adored DS1 and DS2.

The game definitely feels more action oriented compared to Dead Space 1. It could just be that I've been playing Dead Space 1 the last couple days. I remember DS2 feeling more like an action game too, so this could just be really similar to the second game.

Also, there's really not a cover system. You can crouch, and there's things to hide behind every once in a while. You don't stick to objects though. You do stand up when you aim though, allowing you to shoot over cover.

Also, after choosing "solo campaign" from the main menu, you can choose "new game" or "weapon crafting." The second option takes you into a small room with a bench so you can try out all the weapon crafting stuff. You have unlimited health, ammo, and stasis, and can spawn in some enemies to test the weapons out on. I could see spending more time in this mode than on the actual demo, just seeing what weapon setups I like.

Some people think they will have their "PC demo" a couple of days after launch day. Nevertheless, by the impressions here, i think DS3 is going in the worst direction possible. Heres hope for more survival horror in the final product.

I still have the first one gathering dust here. I started it on the hardest difficulty but i pussied out because it was too hard.

Is it worh to reboot it on normal? Or is the sequel just better and should i get tht instead? Because i'm interested in this now.

as a fan of dead space 1+2, i really dont like the demo. some areas (aiming, textures, enemy charactermodels, shadows, atmosphere) have taken a few steps back, compared to ds 2.

fighting enemies now feels super annoying, since the hit detection, hit feedback and controls overall just feel wrong.

the atmosphere is also completly gone (played in sp). its just uncharted moment after uncharted moment in the beginning and then its "fight a ton of enemies!" over and over again.

Well, to be honest it is a semi-cover system. When you aim near any wall/barricade/whatever, Isaac instantly goes into crouch mode, and hides behind objects when you don't shoot. He isn't glued to the wall, though.

And yeah, the weapon crafting mode wasn't half bad itself, but the idea that you have to stomp on every single body in the campaign in hopes of getting materials for the required mods is kinda annoying.

Omg the demo is bad.
It's Gears of war now...oh and Uncharted.
Nope. I'll play Dead Space 1+2 for the third time instead.
Nailed it. Fights are essentially GoW, and that QTE sequence preceded by wandering in a snowstorm was almost like Uncharted.

Oh, and one more thing: the Normal difficulty is pathetically easy. After finishing the level (and you start it with an overabundance of medkits/ammo) I had almost two times more of everything than in the beginning.

Play DS on normal and then start DS2. DS2 has far superior controls, you won't enjoy going back.

I didn't sign up for the demo. Probably should have :/ Oh well, it's being released next week anyway.

Does the demo have any dementia moments? I remember DS2's demo had one. That wasn't terribly frightening anyways, but the Zero-G in DS2's demo felt amazing.

I played through both of them recently back to back after having had the first lying around for a while (took nearly a year's break from it because I found it so intense). Got myself together and finished the first. It was such a great experience that I ordered the second one while still playing the other. Long story short: play it.

I really hope this game will be good, I have tried to stay off media / trailers for it since the initial disappointment. I did enjoy Dead Space 2 but 1 will always be more memorable. Such a tense game up until you become overpowered.

edit: impressions do not seem so good :( hope Issac isn't going the way of Sam Fisher.

No dementia, no zero-G, one QTE sequence, two "semi-boss" fights.

wait, wait, wait. you can only carry two weapons now? the hell? :/
My guess is that you upgrade it later in the game since up/down on the d-pad aren't used for anything. (unless you use them with your co-op partner, in which case, this could really suck)

Dead Space has never really been about resource management. Even on the hardest difficulty, DS1 had plenty of ammo/health/power nodes lying around, and you never even needed air canisters or stasis packs for the majority of the game.

i dont get how/why they fucked up the controls. i am not happy with the focus on even more action, but with the controls from ds 2 it could still be fun. the biggest problem with the ds3 demo (for me) is that fighting enemies is just not fun, at all.

I am in denial about the game already, the demo didn't help and it's really frustrating that people can screw up a series that is so good.

As far as I understand it, you can modify your weapons to have several attachments. Probably 2 different attachments per weapon. So you should still have 4 guns on you.

Sort of, yea. You have 2 weapons, and each has an upper and lower piece. In the demo you start with a plasma cutter with a rotator for the "lower tool". This gives you the normal plasma cutter with rotation. If you switch out the rotator for a military engine, you lose the rotation and the secondary fire becomes an underslung smg.
