Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

I'm really digging Jet Set Radio! Kinda hard to get down, but a lot of fun. Didn't expect that after all the hate for that game on GAF.

I wanted to buy HSG:WI. Although i missed the ps plus sale price $8 but now due to gafhype train I am interested in buying it. But its showing 35 dollars O.o. I thought this game had a price drop??

Also in the sale article the regular price is shown 17$. So why is this happening?

Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational Vita (Sale: $12.49, PS Plus: $8.74, Regular: $17.99)

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012...s-week-2-of-awesome-deals-on-essential-games/

Sony fucked up the price. It should be $17 since they price-dropped it months back. The $8 PSRS price was for the PSRS 50% off sale for December for a week. You snoozed, you losed on that one.

Quoting for the new page ..

JSR is fine, minus the controls and things that JSRF fixed. JSRF is superior in gameplay and hasn't aged as bad as JSR. But JSR is still worth playing.

Heard some terrible things about JSR. Looking forward to giving it a go myself.

Contextualized by its' original release date, it's an okay game. Your enjoyment will probably hinge on whether you like the soundtrack and if you can stomach its' inherent floatiness.

Never played it before so the nostalgia factor will be lost on me. Looked at a couple of videos and looks fun. Will depend on controls i guess.

Got hands on with the Vita for the first time earlier this week, the system feels really solid! As if it was made by gamers for gamers, the controls felt tight and much better than PSP. I was extremely impressed!

Hoping for a price drop at e3 ^_^

Godsend with Vita grips by Hori. You'll thank me when you finally get one. Just ask GraveRobber ;)

Considering the amount of platforming required and how precise you need your jumps to be to hit grinds and the like, I found it to be more frustrating than fun and deleted it after completing a few levels. Honestly, I don't think I would've liked the game if I had played it when it came out either.

Disappointment incoming.

At the time, it was an average game with a neat art style. Today, it's a terrible game with a neat art style.

I turned the music off, so that's not really the case. Don't know what wrong with the controls, after playing half an hour I already see much improvement in my skating :)

Although I have to say it felt a bit "tanky" when I just started playing. And overly sensitive, wich is a weird combo.

I can't get used to using the D-pad for spin shots while watching the meter for perfect impact to do these homing shots. WOE.

I have the biggest fucking hands I swear but I've never thought the Vita is uncomfortable let alone the need for grips...though I do keep it in that black persona holder so maybe that's it.

I'm just going to go ahead and counter with what I said earlier:

So my Hori grips came in the mail.

My review: They make the Vita too bulky, and it makes you hold it in a way that your thumbs are laying on or over the sticks. Pulling out the handles makes you grip it in a way that your thumbs are sort of out of reach of the d-pad and buttons. It also blocks the slot for the physical media as well.

Clunky and awkward. Better than using the Vita without grips, I guess. 2/5.

The PDP grips would be the best, but they make you deal with it's shitty cheap plastic trigger attachments.

I ended up just using the Vita without grips, you get use to it and I learned over time that the Hori grips really aren't better than no grips at all. So change that score to a 1/5.

I don't have particularly big hands and find the Hori grip is great. I don't have any problems reaching any of the buttons and it's comfortable for long play sessions.

With the handles out it's like a big DualShock 3, with them in it's like a smaller Wii U pad.

I find Vita plenty comfortable. I'd only bother with grips if they had rumble and a built-in battery pack for extra playtime.

Ever since going Vita-only, I really miss rumble.

The superior JSRF addresses that issue ;) I hope JSRF is getting an HD release

Read your post. Ya, it depends on the person I guess. I like that it overlays the triggers similar to how you hold a dual shock 3. I don't have the grips extended since it makes it difficult to hit the digital pad and buttons.

Rumble is never something I enjoyed, as I guess I find it more annoying than fun?
I turn rumble off now whenever I can. In most cases, it's just "ooh, rumble with explosions" rather than useful like it was in Splinter Cell's lock picking.

Personally I use the PDP trigger grips. They arnt perfect but they are pretty good and I find it a lot more comfortable to hold with them on.

I bought and set off EDF at lunch so should be waiting for me when I go home. After this crappy day im having I need a nice dumb game like that to blow off some steam.

Also got jetset radio via ps+. Will get the free mobile game as well. Games coming out my ears at the moment and that was before today. P4 takes a lot of my vita time at the moment. Games is just fantastic.

yeah - I was defending it recently but it is bringing back memories of me almost throwing my dreamcast controller across the room.

I'd almost just have the soundtrack and then just sit back and imagine I'm playing it perfectly so I don't have to face the controls.

downloaded demo of RCR, bought EDF. Played RCR demo until EDF finished downloading, and then deleted it - don't like it at all.

EDF is great.

"I shot that one!"
"I need to practice more"

Hey guys, don't be down - plenty more where that came from.

I enjoy rumble greatly.
This post is bizarre. Let me expand.

Rumble makes Canabalt on iPhone ten times more tense and atmospheric. I want rumble on Vita too :-D

Also, fellow Vitabros - anyone have any contacts at Sega of America? This radio silence on whether or not PSO2 Vita will be localized is giving me a case of the jitters.

Now that I think about it, the PC localization was supposed to be a Q1 release, but that's not looking likely given the crickets since July...

Is it too much to hope they're holding back so they release at a similar time? It is, right? D:
The longer they wait to announce, the more everyone outside Japan will jump through hoops to play it.

If they'd at least say something, no matter how tiny, people might be more inclined to wait and have their first experience with the game not be one that requires a questionable fan translation guide in their browser window.

actually I am less inclined to jump through hoops as in general it just makes me forget that it exists lol.

hopefully it comes over sometime, but I am in no hurry. I have been meaning to replay pso on the gamecube at some point anyways lol.

Glad we can all agree JSR is a chore to control. More so on vita. Absolutely love the music and style, though. It's amazing how well cel shaded things age (sly also comes to mind).
