Meh. The character designs are almost always bad, so I just default pick male.
I really think I may too. I loathe the design of the male MC, this one isn't too bad.
Hoping for custom characters... but probably not. :/
I alternate, but I went with Rosa in B2, so I normally would have picked XY this go 'round.

I only played the girl character in White 2, as a praise to my girlfriend. I doubt she knows what an honor it is, though.
ever since Kris, there's never been a time where the guy looked better than the girl.

Female trainer is gorgeous. First MC trainer I've ever seen and just said "Wow". Male trainer isn't bad, but he's a little generic-looking.

I alternate between genders in my games ever since Crystal so I will pick the male trainer in X and then probably the female one in Z but I agree at first I really didn't like the design of the female one though after seeing all the fanart I really begin to like it, she has a touch of class
Oh and I hope X and Y will also feature some beautiful and soothing music-pieces like the BGM from Undella Town as it's one of the most beautiful songs in the franchise

I greatly prefer Ethan to Lyra, Gold over Kris too. and I really like Nates design. Hilda > Rosa imo.

I agree in every case except for G/S/C and HG/SS.
Gold wins out both times. Gamefreak hated Crystal so much they decided to replace her in the remake.

Kris is just atrocious. She's got nothing on Gold's elephant legs, what a fucking man.
But Kotone though, she's so fucking cute and everyone hates her. Gold looks like a pansy.

I dont actually like either design in G/S or the remakes. They just all look kinda dull.
That's a weird != or /=, haha. Either way, yeah, Kris is terrible.
Everyone but Brock has the same face.
Something about his face and appearance in the HGSS art just rubs me the wrong way. He looks too feminine.
Since GS, BW are the only games that have character designs I like for both characters. Then they fucked everything up again with BW2.
Then again, I probably just have bad opinions on this type of thing.
A character creator would be a godsend for me.

Pretty much this. He looks like BW1's protagonist with different hair and sunglasses. The female, however, has quite a bit of class.
