Deadspin: (Notre Dame football player) Manti Te’o’s Dead Girlfriend is a hoax

If these details from the Deadspin story are accurate, the "online" alibi has absolutely no credibility:

"Nov. 28, 2009: Te'o and Kekua meet after Stanford's 45-38 victory over Notre Dame in Palo Alto, according to the South Bend Tribune: "Their stares got pleasantly tangled, then Manti Te'o extended his hand to the stranger with a warm smile and soulful eyes." Kekua, a Stanford student, swaps phone numbers with Te'o.

LOL!

But, even if the secretly gay story is true, this still doesn't explain the lengths to which he went to make up details about the girlfriend. If he was trying to hide the truth about being gay, why wouldn't he just make up a story about a "girlfriend from home" and just leave it at that?

Think about it - if he really wanted to hide his sexuality, he could have asked a female friend to pose as his girlfriend on Twitter/Facebook. Who would ever question that?

Instead - he invents this story about the girlfriend dying of leukemia on the day that his grandmother died?

I can't wait to hear more about this story.....

He could have started this whole lie to hide his sexuality from his parents/family.

OMG Internet.

I think we should clarify the CJK5H(A) acronym for the sake of everyone in this thread.

Oh. Yeah. Forgot this wasn't the NCAAF thread! LOL

I think anybody can Google search the meme, and get a better explanation of it from that.

So CJK5H stands for "Craig James Killed 5 Hookers," in case anybody is curious and wants to look it up.

From @dan_bernstein CBS 670 The Score (BY CRACKY!)

"Talked to a source who says #Swarbrick's lone goal was to insulate #ND and put any inconsistencies on #Teo, no matter how it came off."

"Talked to a source who says #Swarbrick's lone goal was to insulate #ND and put any inconsistencies on #Teo, no matter how it came off."

I got that feeling when the most crucial questions asked were passed off to letting Teo explain.

This is the most humiliating thing I have ever seen for a (future) professional athlete. LOL

It's unbelievable, you couldn't make this up, just an unbelievable story. I keep wanting to read every little bit of info that comes out too, it's really fascinating.

I'm not sure if it's just because it's night time and I'm by myself, but for some reason this part of the Deadspin story is freaking me out:

Deadspin said:
There was no Lennay Kekua. Lennay Kekua did not meet Manti Te'o after the Stanford game in 2009. Lennay Kekua did not attend Stanford. Lennay Kekua never visited Manti Te'o in Hawaii. Lennay Kekua was not in a car accident. Lennay Kekua did not talk to Manti Te'o every night on the telephone. She was not diagnosed with cancer, did not spend time in the hospital, did not engage in a lengthy battle with leukemia. She never had a bone marrow transplant. She was not released from the hospital on Sept. 10, nor did Brian Te'o congratulate her for this over the telephone. She did not insist that Manti Te'o play in the Michigan State or Michigan games, and did not request he send white flowers to her funeral. Her favorite color was not white. Her brother, Koa, did not inform Manti Te'o that she was dead. Koa did not exist. Her funeral did not take place in Carson, Calif., and her casket was not closed at 9 a.m. exactly. She was not laid to rest.

Lennay Kekua's last words to Manti Te'o were not "I love you."

Sorry I didnt read the whole thread but can someone explain to me how in this day in age this was not figured out sooner. When the entire media was reporting a girl from stanford died didn't anyone from Stanford decide to check to make sure they didn't have a student die? How do they not say anything? How does nobody from Stanford say they have never met this girl? Then there is the media which is a joke, half the articles have conflicting stories, how do they not pick up on this?

So, uh, Arizona Cardinals fullback Reagan Mauia is now saying that she actually is real and, uh, he met her.

Yeah.

wtf

http://espn.go.com/college-football...ry-manti-teo-girlfriend-death-apparently-hoax

Reagan Mauia, an Arizona Cardinals fullback, said he believes Kekua existed because he met her in person when he and other Polynesian teammates and Pittsburgh Steelers star Troy Polamalu went to do charity work in American Samoa in June 2011.

"This was before her and Manti," Mauia said Wednesday evening. "I don't think Manti was even in the picture, but she and I became good friends. We would talk off and on, just checking up on each other kind of thing. I am close to her family. When she was going through the loss of her father, I was -- I offered a comforting shoulder and just someone to bounce her emotions off. That was just from meeting her in Samoa."

Mauia said Tuiasosopo -- whom Mauia believes is Kekua's cousin -- introduced the two. After the initial meeting, Mauia said he met her at an "after-party" for all of the athletes involved in the camp.

"She was tall," he said. "Volleyball-type of physique. She was athletic, tall, beautiful. Long hair. Polynesian. She looked like a model ... "

He said it is his understanding that Kekua's mother is operating her Twitter account. He said he'd never met her mother. When told by a reporter that she apparently might not have existed, Mauia said: "No, she is real."

Te'o is training in preparation for the NFL draft at the IMG Institute in Bradenton, Fla. He is No. 8 on Mel Kiper's latest draft board.

He's close to her family but never met her mother?

At this rate, not sure if we can really believe that the Hawaiian Islands are real. Could be an elaborate hoax brought on by the Hawaiian People.
