LOL

edit: actually this entire gen should have stopped after the second evolve forms... its unfixable..
Yeah the right idea just simplified. I recall a lot of early speculation was that gen v was inspired by shanghai which is why the starters had a lot of chinese influence. Granted I still see the influence in the final designs too.

The problem with fanart is that they forget the final evos losing their cute and going more for menacing.

ugh, this took far too long...

Oh god yes, joltiks all over

The thread suddenly died right before the halfway point. :/

While searching on character info, I came across this quote from a Eurogamer interview:

The brains behind Pokemon Black and White

Eurogamer: The names of the games are associated with colours. There have been so many games now. Will you run out of colours soon? What happens when you do?

Junichi Masuda: This time, for Black and White, the main concept was extreme in the scenario. So, that's where the name Black and White comes from. It's extreme, different, opposite. This time was the first time we put the title based on the scenario and the world point of view. This title was based on the content of the videogame scenario.

Going forward, I predict we will continue putting titles based on the worldview, like we did for Black and White. But of course, it's really difficult!
So that confirms that indeed, BW were chosen for their story significance (and XY as well), and not because they're 'running out of colors' :p

PWT Final Battle screams of Smash.

My favorite in each gen.

1 - Trainer battle
2 - Wild Pokemon battle
3 - Victory Road
4 - Champion Cynthia battle
5 - BW Legendary encounter, BW2 Ghetsis battle

Favorite soundtrack from each gen?

Well for me,

I: Gym Battle Theme.
II: Olivine City
III: Route 111
IV: Don't have one, never played DPPt.
V: Route 10

I don't listen much the soundtracks because I play in train and such, so I usually mute the game. \and when I'm at home I just use a playlist on my computer.

So I cannot answer you.

I like the OP of pokemon season 1 anime, if that's relevant. (I didn't see much episodes after season 1 anyway)

I am unfortunately the same. Except for gym leaders and similar moments, I usually play with the volume muted. I really like what I hear of the music when I hear it, but Pokemon is the perfect multitasking game for me.

Generally watching TV, or listening to podcasts, or something else.

Final Battle's full-on Kageyama if you ask me. It's awesome, though—the best battle theme he's done by far.

I don't have any true favorite rankings for each Gen. There's way too much great stuff littered throughout these manifold soundtracks, so I'd have to take some daytime out to examine everything once over. But I can always give my favorite examples of Pokémon music (links later):

Mt. Pyre Outer Wall; Route 203; Route 11; Mt. Moon; Slateport City; RGB Trainer Battle (FR/LG in particular); Both the GSC and RSE The End tracks; RSE Surf; BW Legendary Pokémon Battle; RSE Elite 4 Battle

I could go on like this forever.

I need clarification. I was always under the assumption that you'll be able to customize your trainer thanks to trailer footage showing the pink girl different from the main female trainer shown running alongside a male trainer, but I don't see that being confirmed floating around.

Really late on this, but I honestly think thats just a trainer running in a square, like the kid in Ruby and Sapphire at the beach at Route 104

I get the sense that whatever it is, it's meaningful. I believe they cut that clip into the trailer specifically to show that the girl is following you -- she takes your exact path.

I don't think it's just a standard mobile NPC.

If she follows your exact path though then she isn't a player character, but just a trailing npc. I do think its something important though. I'll need to watch it again to see exactly how the movement happens.

That gen is screwed up. Just try not to remember, haha.

It's not that bad for me. I just went through sprite lists to figure out my favourite gen in terms of designs:

Gen I is 31% liked
Gen II is 36%
Gen III is 29%
Gen IV is also 29%
and Gen V is 22%

So yeah it's the lowest on my list but it's actually not that bad. Purely in amount of Pokemon per gen I liked 3 more Gen V designs than I did Gen IV and it's only 2 designs off Gen II.

But it took a while for a lot of them to grow on me and theres only 3 designs I really love... so it's definitely my least favourite gen.

Also I didn't realise how many Gen III designs I liked are actually from Gen II.

If I were to do that...though I'm not sure how you did it. It would probably be something like.
Gen I 86%
Gen II 97%
Gen III 91%
Gen IV 34%
Gen V 54%

I don't recall her doing that though..very close to the same path but off by about a space or two.

EDIT: Yep off by a block.

Amount of Pokemon you like / total amount in gen X 100

I was actually suprised at how low the earlier gens were and how high the later ones are when I looked through them all. Because if I'd guessed I'd have put something like your list for the first three gens and gone lower that my actual results with Gens IV and V.
