Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Not open for further replies.
Literally can't post about any handheld without some form of shit going down. D:

I have both a 3DS and a Vita and yet that thread made me irritated. I left before I got myself in trouble too.

I love my vita more than my 3ds, but I still love em both. I just cant look at those threads anymore. ;/

Never go outside.

Top of the page - BUY P4G, Mutant Blobs Attack, Velocity, Velocity Ultra, support Carl, etc

Damn, some people in the MH thread seem to have some really huge stake in the Vita's premature demise. It's like the Vita's existence is a huge personal insult to them. I just don't understand that way of thinking.

Regarding VLR, gameplay is Myst-like so YMMV. But the story is very interesting so far. Haven't finished it, too many games to play and work takes up a lot of time. :P

Saw some Gods Eater 2 screens. How's Gods Eater Burst? Is it too grindy?

So guys, what about Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward? Any good?
Mindbending scifi mystery story with puzzle sections. I absolutely loved it. It's a follow up to the DS game 999 though, so you'll want to play through that first if it's an option, though you can get by without it.

People don't want new consoles to be good because they don't want to have to spend the money on them. We see a lot of anger towards the Wii U too, and we'll definitely see a lot of anger thrown at the next Xbox and PlayStation as well.

Funny thing is, if the Vita did die, these same people would pick up cheap units and herald it as an underrated console. Happens every time.

Even happened with me; hated NGage at the time but sorta love it now, haha.

I'm going to be honest, as a new Vita owner. I have a pretty huge stake in Sony not fucking up and keeping the Vita alive with a steady stream of content. >_< I think I understand fanboys now...ahaha, I almost wish Sony will get MH, not because I am particular fan of the series, but it is one of the few announcements that could lead to the platform returning to a healthy state.

Yeah, I don't really care for Monster Hunter (tried too many times to get into it to no avail) but I'd like to see it on the console to shift some units.

I felt the same way about COD... but we all know how that turned out. Really wish it was just a BLOPS2 port with cross-buy. Wouldn't help the 'too many ports' arguments but would've been much better than what we got and might have sold more.

returning implies the vita was ever in a healthy state :P

I want to see games continue to come out for the vita as well, but in general I am not to worried. You have to figure a number of companies didn't get their dev kits until near release, 18 months is usually a good time frame for a game being made meaning ideally we will have some good releases this fall. If e3 comes and we get a price cut and a number of bigger titles announced and sales still don't increase then I will start to worry, but it's not like sales of games on the vita have been horrible given the current install base. They haven't been great either, but there is at least good potential for sales for smaller developers right now.

How in the hell does Carl keep getting banned. He's usually so nice and well mannered... :I

I'm guessing it was his I am tired of seeing people complain about the vita dying post as pretty much everyone that said something along those lines got banned in that thread.

I'm sort of in the same boat - I don't own a Vita but kept an eye on COD to see if it really drove the viability of the system for third parties. As an aside - do we have any numbers at all for Vita software sales? Be it COD, Fifa, NFS etc?

Saw some Gods Eater 2 screens. How's Gods Eater Burst? Is it too grindy?

It has 10 lvls of missions

lvl1-6 are orginal God Eater - those can be easily done without any grind (just by playing each mission once)
lvl 7-10 are Burst expansion add-on and they need some grind but nothing too excessive

I spent over 50 hours playing it on my Vita and reached lvl 10 but then got distracted by some other games so i need to return to it.

Anyway i'd consider it 9/10 game for God Eater part and 8/10 for Burst expansion and definitly one of top 10 psp games.

Yes there was whole lot of numbers if you dig around page 30 of december npd thread:

i remember two top sellers
For USA lifetime sales 300k<Uncharte<Cod<317k

Once PSV get's price drop, real CoD and Gran Turismo we should be fine

That's interesting - I know COD was considered to be pretty terrible but the name alone must have done some good, but how decent is "decent"?

Wondering if I should try GEB before GEB2 or whether it'll be GEB overload.

When? I want to hop on and practice for a little bit before we play, but I can play whenever.

1.5/2 hours from now? I need to eat and stuff, but I just want to get it done! And I haven't played much either, so

I still need to play GEB... every time I try to sit down and play, something distracts me or I need to do something else.

That's fine. Make sure you get some practice in beforehand like me! :P

enough that it's been at the top of the vita sellers in NA since it launched but I don't think any actual numbers have been released.

Persona 4 Golden 229,044 in japan
Atlus actually put the number at 260,000 in their shareholder report - their best selling title that financial year, so I guess the rest were downloads. Miku also apparently had something like 10% extra downloads. Beyond that it was reported here that CoD sold 317k retail in the US.

Downloads are the big joker though... We really have no idea how they're influencing things. All we really can do is sit back and wait for new game announcements, and take continuing support from developers/publishers that they're finding supporting the Vita worthwhile. Milestone's MotoGP13 marks their third Vita retail title for example, so presumably the previous two made a profit.

That's fucking ridiculous.
Hell, if that's ban worthy, I have some complaints about some bans that should've been handed out back in the UMvC3 threads. And I probably should've been banned about 70 times over for my comments in them as well.

*Sigh* Sometimes the moderation here baffles me.
Get rid of great mega threads that foster a love of gaming and foster community and helping each other.
Encourage threads that lead to bickering.
Ban people who make observations.

Great.

Stardrone is weird. Not sure I love the touch controls on Vita. I think I might be better at it on PS3 with a controller... noted to try. I could've done worse with 2 bucks. Level 3 was just annoying, it took me about 4 tries to finially get a bronze medal. I have no idea how anyone could get gold on that. LOL

Beetween 300 and 317 k in USA retail only up to end of december.

So adding Europe + digital sales probably 500k+ with good chances at becoming first PSV million seller.

I would imagine similar numbers in Europe - it was bundled with the machine in the UK at least.

And I'm surprised people don't reveal numbers for downloads - maybe because it's much less than we think? Though not even Steam reveals numbers.

imagine how the sales would be if it was actually a good COD game. It will be interesting to see if activision puts out another COD game this year and if they will actually put a budget behind it.

hmmmm I wonder if this is part of the reason for the long maintenance

Paypal can now be used to fund PSN wallets in NA

If they add this option on PS3, would I not need to rely on US pre-paid cards on my US account? :O

Activision released a few COD games for DS. I can't imagine they sold well, so I would hope we'd get at least one more COD given the decent sales of Declassified. Just hope they don't go for 'Modern Warfare: Declassified' because that'd drive people away, haha. No idea who would be on dev duties, though.

I don't think publishers want them out there - makes it harder for the competition to copy their successes and avoid their failures.

Can't you just use the option on the website?

Thanks for the overview. I've been interested in it for some time, but since I don't like MH was hesitating. One last thing, how's the story and characters? I don't need it to be a masterpiece, just good enough.

I just tried to add 10$ to my US account via paypal through the sonycomputernetwork website. No luck, after a short while I went to paypal's account page and the transaction was denied. I guess they check where your paypal account is from (mine's italian and there's no way to add a foreign billing address once it's created).
I guess I could try creating another paypal account though... I'll keep you posted in case I manage to charge it via paypal and stop having to rely on psn cards and their infamous activation fee -__-

I'm going to be a guinea pig and try out the paypal funding option.

It lets you add:
$5
$10
$25
$50
$143.86 <--- weird.

Trying $25.

Edit:
Worked pretty smoothly. Seems I added $25 and went to about $29 in my wallet. We'll see how far that gets me in the sale on Tuesday.

When bought through Amazon.com, there is no activation fee for prepaid cards.

I would assume I'd only get redirected to the EU site, but it doesn't appear there is anyway to use PayPal on a US account from EU. Pre-paid cards it is then. :(

Yep, thought it'd be like this. :(

activation fee? first I have heard of it. I am guessing it has something to do with you importing cards to use on a NA psn account?

That last number means you had $6.14 in your wallet already. :)

Gee I had no idea, I will buy one from them next time. I see they don't send you codes via email for 10$ cards though but that's fine, I can deal with getting 20$ cards and saving 4.45$ of activations ;) Thanks!

Sites selling psn cards codes usually take an activation fee, like maximuscards and others I've checked before (instead of 10$ you pay 12.50$, etc). But apparently amazon.com doesn't do that so I might not need this new paypal payment feature at all :)

Appreciate you trying. That sucks. Is there any good reason why Sony can't take other regions' PayPal?
I guess the same reason they don't accept credit cards from anywhere else but the US, i.e.: no fucking idea.

Wow, that MH thread.

Really looks like you can't question the negative sentiments or snarky comments about Vita or you come off as complaining.

Ill click on the threads, but as I see the same snarky comments de-evolve the thread discussion I quickly opt out without leaving any posts. Sad that any counter discourse is misperceived.

I only ever post in here now.

It's much faster game than MH - areas are smaller and much more action packed.

Story wasn't masterpiece but i enjoyed it and played quite a lot "just one more mission to see what happens next".

MH was too hardcore for me when i had demo on PSP.

Amazing what a little narrative and dialogue can elevate a monster hunting game.

Just finished MBA, great game.

Next in line is either Gods Eater Burst or Little King's Story but I can't decide which to start next.

Great games earlier online. It seems like you like to attack a bunch, which if fine, but you rush in doing unsafe strings and get punished. Practice your blocking some more. I think your team is good.

Spencer combos are pretty hard.

LOL yeah, just seems mad to me that I have to go to a third party and pay a premium for those things when I'd be much happier and willing to spend money directly through Sony.

ai bots replacing those ad-hoc mates you will never have in west also help ;)

Well just imho but if you removed story progression and character development (leveling) from action jrpg and then increased item crafting to extreme you would get Monster Hunter.

God Eater is middle ground.

I figured I'd ask this here since everyone seems to be friendly.

Is there anyway to change the general theme of the entire NeoGAF forum? There are some horrible glares where my computer is and a darker screen would make everything easier to read. First world problem, I know :l, lol.

I've looked everywhere in the UserCP and can't find anything.
