Is the rest of law that much more interesting?
For me, yes. Haha. Litigation, family law, wills and estates are all interesting. Even corporate is pretty decent.
But lawdhammercy property law.
A couple months ago, I was working at this local coffee shop. I really enjoyed it, but they stopped giving me hours because they weren't getting enough customers to pay the 2-3 people working there.
From that point on, it was just the manager working, whenever I came in to buy coffee for myself. Anyway, I came in today to see him training someone new![]()
Happened to me at the place I "worked" before I got my current job.
I went in for my first shift, it was all super positive, they said they'd call me to schedule my shifts for next weekend.
Friday rolls around, so I call to see what's happening. They said they had gone over hours, I said cool, they own the place themselves and just opened, budget concerns, that's fine.
So a week later, I texted to just ask if there was anything ahead, they said the same thing about budget, so I asked if my job was more of an on-call (as they had said it would be weekends, 15-20 hours) and they said "if you need more steady work then maybe this isn't the place for you". I said I still wanted to work there so just give me a shout when something comes up.
I never heard from them again and I started looking for another job and saw then advertising for a new employee. FUCK THAT. I also never got paid for the shift I did work.
