Put "Star" in the title, JJ Abrams will Direct it: Episode VII gets a Director

Abrahams paces his movies weirdly and fast, he crams lots of stuff and everything gets to fit ''conveniently'' too well to the point of ''oh c'mon'' like in his Star Trek

Hey Kirk, walk for 5 minutes and meet Old Spoke in a Cave.. hey guys, walk 10 minutes and meet Scotty!

yehhh
Kirk was already near a Starfleet outpost as indicated by the computer inside his escape pod when he landed. Spock was marooned on the planet for a while already and was probably well on his way to the Starfleet outpost as well. It's not too wild to believe that they met up with each other.

it's a shame you still haven't come around on it :) hopefully Into Darkness will do the job.

Haha we'll see. I watched the preview in front of the Hobbit, and, well... I wasn't offended? :lol I'd say this:

is my biggest problem with Abrams' movies. He can't pace a story to save his life. It's like... no one wants a 2 hour orgasm. You need the foreplay before the climax otherwise it just gets tedious like half an hour in. With Abrams, the whole is always less than the sum of its parts.

People like to complain that the opening act of a New Hope is boring, but people forget that the movie would fundamentally not work without those scenes (dat Binary Sunset). Similarly, the training scenes with Yoda (though I don't think anyone complains about that shit because those scenes are great). When characters grow, they need to earn that shit.

Frodo confirmed to be Luke.

I'm sure JJ will just go with the obvious 20+ years after RoTJ, Skywalker/Solo children, Jedi Academy, angry student finds Sith relic, etc storyline but more Jedi = More potential to fall into the traps that the prequel trilogy took, so be careful with what you wish for there.

Well that's definitely true for MI3 but I don't really think that's the case with Star Trek. I'm pretty sure Into Darkness will show that the journey of the crew is far from over and that they're still in the growing up / (l) earning phase. It's too easy to assume that they are already back at the TOS status quo. Most of the "convience problems" in Trek would've gone away had Abrams inlcuded the "It looks like time has a way to mend itself" line (in the commentary he admits that he regrets cutting it).

People call that boring? Can they be kicked off the internet?

Hey guys, you know which producer/writer plays a big role in almost everything Abrams has ever done?

Star Wars already has a producer/writer. Two of em.

Also, Lindelof is part of the reason Star Trek felt so much like Star Wars as it did. It's not a bad thing even IF he gets the job to polish up whatever Arndt hands in.

Since the director is the same, nerds everywhere will be able to use these movies to settle the biggest conflict in history.

I've never heard anyone call the opening act of A New Hope boring. What are you even talking about.

A really old one that probably won't score it. A Giacchino SW score would be fucking amazing.

They'll probably ask Williams but I'd be surprised if he takes on the gig, given his age and that he's pretty much in semi-retirement. Giacchino was always the ideal second choice.

So what you are saying is: the need of the many outweighs the need of the one, but always let the wookie win - and we have to go back, Kate!

Live long and prosper while the Force is with you.
