Its almost as if the crowd purposely said "Fuck You" to Vince and the genius writing staff after the bullshit title match at WrestleMania.

Or did they? Or was it Vince all along?

YTnIJwdl.jpg

They kind of did at the 2000 RR with the Rock and Big Show.

I actually forgot about that. You just reminded me that angle was a storyline in No Mercy. It was similar to the Lugar/Brett outcome but the tape proved that Big Show really won. Brett and Lugar's feet hit at the exact same time which was pretty nuts and the WM 10 stipulation of 2 championship match ups were epic.

yeah that was one of the best crowds ever for an entire show. they were hot the entire 2 hours. crazy bastards didn't even let sheamus talk after that travesty at mania lol

Isn't that where they started chanting "Si!" for Del Rio when he came out as well?

that crowd, man. lol

I still think champ CM Punk vs Taker would be the best possible WWE match going into Mania.

Once in a Lifetime™ II doesn't need the title.

I'm calling it now:

Punk retains
Bork Laser wins the Rumble

Heyman Guy vs. Heyman Guy at Wrestlemania

ONLY if I get 20 straight minutes of Heyman saying "Brock Lesnar" with all the gravitas Heyman can put in that name.

That ending happened because Batista messed up and tripped when doing a move and went over with Cena. Batista was supposed to win the Rumble.

I wish WWE did official postmortems or director's commentary, so we can find out what actually happened for things like this. Instead, you hear about 10 years later after someone retires or something.

Aiii

So not worth it
IT IS HERE! GUYS! IT IS TIME! IT IS EFFING TIME!! IT IS PREDICTION TIME FOR THE ROYAL RUMBLE!!!

So, here we go, for my favorite PPV of the year! Only 4 matches for the main PPV and a pre-show match. Tho, counting half an hour for Punk vs Rock, over an hour for the Rumble match and two times 20 minutes for the other two matches we've already have 2 hours filled without promo's. Expecting one aor two filler matchers, one of which some kind of Divas Battle Royal For The Number One Contendership they love to do. But regardless, lets predict what's announced...

20130122_LIGHT_RR_preshow_C.jpg

United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz
So, I guess we can count this whole Miz business Cesaro's first real feud. 2013 will be Cesaro's year, the fans love him (or to boo him, which is great for a heel and rare enough) and the company is very high on him given he fights on almost every show and is rarely squashed. I expect a World or WWE Title run by the end of the year, perhaps a MITB win at WrestleMania. On the flipside we have The Miz. I was hoping for a Miz face turn so when he turned I was happy. Then Miz didn't change his behaviour and what's even worse they gave his horrible Talk Show more screentime and have him show us he's a crappy commentator every Wednesday as well. This is probably the worst turn since Austin joining McMahon. Horrible effort all around. And instead of realising it's not working, they give him the Figure Four, and they actually give him a "passing the torch" moment with Flair?!! WHAT? WHY? FUCK THIS COMPANY! Seriously, it would be sorta okay if he didn't butcher it the second he used it on Raw, but he did and now the Figure Four belongs to a guy that can't do a Figure Four. I've thought on this and it's best compared to that horrible Frog Splash several people (but especially CHAVO'S) are doing since Eddie died. But I am way off topic here. My fear is that they're putting the belt on Miz, but I don't think it'll happen here, so Cesaro retains. There's only one scenario where I can see Cesaro dropping the title and that is if he wins the Rumble, but I doubt that it's his time yet, but he is an outsinder for the win. So if Cesaro loses, he will immediatly be my pick for the Rumble win, else, forget about it.

20130114_LIGHT_RR_HellNo_RhodesScholars_C.jpg

WWE Tag Team Championships: Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars
So, I'm ready to move on from Team Hell No, it was fun at the start up until they won the title. Then it was boring for a while and it was sorta fun a bit, but not hilarious as in the beginning, in the end. And now the logical progression is for Kane to start his final run in WWE by putting over people like Sandow, Cesaro, Ambrose, Rollins, etc. and for Bryan to be a permanent main event singles competitor. He's great at comedy and should be a Shawn Michaels kind of comic relieve face. Like he is now, but way more serious as a threat. Rhodes Scholars are just perfect, mostly due to Sandow, who is well on his way to become a future top star. Rhodes is a midcard guy, but he's good enough for his pairing with Sandow to be succesfull. This will be a fun match, but nothing special due to only one of the guys being an amazing wrestler. Still, fun enough and I'm hoping we'll see the cracks that'll lead to the swift end of Hell No as a team. New Tag Team Champions: Rhodes Scholars.

20130123_LIGHT_RR_delrio_show_C.jpg

World Heavyweight Championship (Last Man Standing Match): Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show
Can I say how great Del Rio has been as a face in such a short time? I shouldn't be surprised given Del Rio's heritage, but his stale heel stick really held him back. Using Ricardo to turn him slowly was great and giving him a title win in front of a crowd that would cheer him like that was genius. All around it's one of the best executed turns in a long time. Big Show has had an equally great turn since he punched Cena to give Johnny Ace the win, culminating in a great WHC run. It's a shame they chose the same stipulation for this match as the previous title match, they could've chosen something different. Come to think of it, whatever happened to Dog Collar Chain Matches? Wouldn't that have been a great gimmick match for this situation? Going off track again, sorry. I don't see Show winning here, unless Ziggler is cashing it, but that won't happen... So Del Rio retains!

Now, I don't know what will go first, Rock vs. Punk or the Rumble match. I'm expecting the Rumble match to close the show as always, so we'll continue on:
20130107_LIGHT_RR_match-pre_rock-punk_C-homepage2.jpg

WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. The Rock
I know people have felt let down by this feud, but honestly, I'm not one of them. The intensity of these two has me believe they hate eachother and that's something Cena vs. Rock last year never managed. The first promo exchange they had was amazing. Punk at Metlife Stadium was great as were the remaining promo's. The only thing I disliked was the Rock Concert, but that's just because I've outgrown the juvenile jokes. I'm sure it was great for the kids though, so lets pretend that was done for them, while the other promo's were done for the older crowd. Rock's selling of the attack by Shield was great in combination with the promo after that. All in all a good build-up to this match and one I hope is continuing until WrestleMania, with Cena involved for a three-way blow-off. Which brings me to this match, Rock seems in better shape than last year and I'm sure he's trained harder to avoid getting tired midway through like at WrestleMania last year. They wlll deliver, I have no doubt. I am expecting a swerve on either the Rumble or this match where we won't get the expected winner (Rock for this, Cena for that). So I wouldn't put it past them to have some kind of Mad Ox interference to give Punk another month as champion until EC. But if we're not swerved on this New WWE Champion: The Rock.

Which brings us to my favoritest of all the gimmick matches, THE ROYAL RUMBLE!
rumble2013_preview_pic.jpg

30-Man Royal Rumble for a Headlining Spot at WrestleMania XXIX
Now, lets try something different here, I'll first pick two categories:

Person that lasts the longest in the match
So this one should be Ziggler, he is coming in first and they're building him up (aside from the usual Cena bullshits of course). I can't think of anyone else lasting as long besides perhaps Cesaro. If Cesaro and Ziggler are numbers 1 and 2 it will be toss-up, but if another person starts the Rumble along with Ziggler, it'll be him.

Person that eliminates the most people
This one is tough, but it will be either Ryback, Sheamus or Cesaro. Most likely Ryback though, but they might do some kind of Shield thing here to set up a WrestleMania match. Sheamus and Orton is gonna to be a likely feud as well so Orton will be eliminated here by Sheamus or the other way around, which might get in Sheamus' way of eliminating alot of people. He is one of the kayfabe strongest men in the company though, so he's a very likely candidate for this. Finally Cesaro, as I said above they're high on him and he's on the fast track. Giving him a strong outing in the Rumble would be great for him so WWE will definitely make him look strong here. However, as said, Ryback has been losing alot and he needs the "wow look how dominating Ryback is tonight" rub the most.

Most likely winning the Rumble (in order of most likely to least likely)
1. John Cena - Yeah, Twice in a Lifetime, whatever. Cena overcomes 30 men because he can't get title shots by just asking for them. Whatever, please swerve this WWE! Pretty please?
2. Dolph Ziggler - The best outsider to win is Ziggler from the number one spot. Lets face it, he lost two matches at Raw against Cena and that alone in WWE Universe makes him a likely winning candidate, because that's how they love to book stuff. Other then that Ziggler is one of their biggest main event stars over the past quarter year, at the very least top 3 and his stuff with AJ/Big E and the Cena feud has put him in the spotlight big time, moreso than ever before. I hope they give him the win, he could really use the rub and to join Michaels and ------ as the only people to win from the number one spot? It would be amazing for him. Maybe he can win the match by being the sole survivor with Cena and then some AJ/Big E shenanigans. Also, the uniqueness of having both the case and the Rumble? That would be great for him to boast with in promo's, for the crowd to take him super seriously and would create a cool thing if he went to WrestleMania with a title shot and a back-up title shot in case he loses.
3. Ryback - Needless to say, Ryback could also use the rub. See above.
4. Antonio Cesaro - If he loses the US title, he instantly moves to number one. He's on the fast track and if you're gonna give new blood a rub, why not the guy everyone loves to see in the ring?
5. One of The Shield - Okay, so we've seen a TLC match where The Shield won convincingly against Ryback and Hell No by being clever and teaming up, picking them off one by one. The fact that they don't have a match booked has me convinced they'll be in the rumble and if they apply the same tactic, why not have it end with 2 or all 3 of them as sole survivors? That would be unexpected and launch the winners career immensely. Have some in ring moment where they shrug and decide that now that the job is done, it's "may the best man win" time and have them fight it out. Most like winner of these three would be Ambrose of course, with Rollins as a second and Reigns as an outsider. It would be a cool ending for the match, but unlikely as I expect The Shield to be in more 3v3 matches for the time being and none of them doing singles on PPV until after WrestleMania.

So there you have it, those are my picks. Lets hear your opinions and predictions people!

Tell me about it. I wish SO much what I could get for each PPV, eventually, is the 2 (or more) main participants w/Vince.

Cesaro over Miz
Hell No over Rhodes Scholars, due to the reason that they need to figure out what they want to do to split Hell No and they probably haven't been trying to think of anything
Del Rio over Show
Rock over Punk

John Cena to win Rumble, I even bet my avatar against it with PhoenixAzure!!

Well thanks to them they basically strapped a rocket to his back and made him extremely over.

Also, thy forced WWE to change to the title match at extreme rules where it was supposed to be Del Rio but they changed to Bryan.
I'm not saying the 18-second booking didn't play a role in things (it did), but Bryan was on the cusp of something big even before that rash decision. Spontaneous YES! chants were breaking out at Ring of Honor and Dragon's Gate events during WrestleMania weekend prior to the PPV.

The great what if question would be at Wrestlemania if Bryan and Sheamus had the extreme rules type match instead of the 18 second loss. Would the crowd at Raw reacted the same way or would he be in the position he is today if the 18 second loss never happened?

The crowd would not have reacted the way it did. While they would have been upset, it was to be expected that he was going to drop the title. The 18 second loss was a huge "fuck you" and the fans reacted in the only way they could.

YES! YES! YES!

30-Man Royal Rumble for a Headlining Spot at WrestleMania XXIX: Fuck it, am going on a limb and picking mah man Daniel Bryan.

SoulPlaya

more money than God
Team Hell No will break up in the actual RR match, and afterwards, they'll have a match on RAW, and the winner gets to go to WM to work the concession stand. The loser will also have to work a concession stand at WM, but it won't be as nice.

Picking:

Miz over Cesaro with the figure four but for some screwy reason the title doesn't change hands
Team hell no to retain. They need to do the whole "splitting up tension thing" yet.
Del Rio to zzzz out the big show. Dolph will not cash in.
CM Punk to beat the rock
Some diva thing to happen I don't care about.

And the royal rumble will be won by... Austin.

Punk v Austin at WM
We also still get Cena v Rock 2, although there isn't any particular build up or good reason for it. I think this fits the writing.

Otherwise Yeah, Cena walks away from RR with all titles.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
U.S. Championship - Cesaro wins
Tag Championship - Hell No wins (they aren't dropping the titles until it's time for them to do something else, and there's no other face tag team for the Scholars to feud against)
WHC - Del Rio retains, Ziggler cashes in after Show beats him down post-match
WWE - The Rock wins, unfortunately. Too bad.
Rumble - Cena :(
(longest lasting: Dolph, most eliminations: The Shield)

Despite being an Attitude Era fan and how much I despise this current era of wrasslin, I want Punk to win. He's the best thing in the company today.

Great this means Cena might not win because he might be stabbed in the kidney again, but knowing him he will no sell it.

Can't wait for the inevitable
9-man triple threat tag match
at WrestleMania between
3MB, The Shield and Epico, Primo and Carlito.
Perhaps Hunico can join up with Rey & Sin Cara to make it a 12-man affair. Sin Botcha & Faux Cara on the same team. Just think of it!
