It's official: everybody hates Cure Muse.
I could have sworn I saw EVA 02 do it at some point in the show. Or maybe Rebuild. Or maybe I'm just misremembering things.I think it's pretty interesting that, in all this debate about particular poses from Gainax works that you could never picture Evangelion Unit-1 striking such a pose. It really wouldn't fit. I guess it goes to show how radically different that series if from their sable of other robot shows.
I already sold my first kidney in order to finance importing Sin and Punishment 2 from Japan. I later bought the North American version anyway so boohoohoo. You don't really need both your kidneys, do you?
Good. Good. It says something about Mouryou no Hako that I don't feel like I could actually watch episode four tonight. I don't think I have the mental energy required to get the most of the series today. Considering how demanding each episode can be I can understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea - you don't watch anime to tax your brain.Mouryou no Hako 4
Damn, this show is dense. In a good way. I wound up rewatching a few scenes. The mystery is still swirling pretty intensely. I'm starting to find some ways to put the symbolism into focus.
Dolls. Boxes. Severed arms and legs. Spotlights. Shadows. I think a running theme (at least in this episode) has to do with a loss of agency and control, perhaps in exchange for the preservation of the eternal. Or perhaps not. Either way, many of them mark a transition from "life" to "object". Perhaps I'm just babbling.
Detective Kiba remains the most interesting character, I think. I'm glad the show raised more ties to the past of the war. I wonder how they'll handle some of that stuff.Having a doctor in Manchuria that conducted experiments to create an "immortal soldier" could lead all kinds of places, and I hope they push it somewhere that would make their audience uncomfortable.
Once again, I look forward to watching more.

Leave Shinji-kun alone! He's one of the most memorable protagonists in anime.[Neon Genesis Evangelion] - 3
Shinji, why is that I find you so inherently unlikeable? Admittedly, his reasons for being despondent are understandable (having basically been conscripted to pilot a gigantic death-machine), though he goes about it in such a maudlin way, I still found difficult to sympathize. Which extends to the closing moments of the battle, though it's clear to see why he breaks at this point, it's still pretty dumb when you consider the overall insignificance of the event. It may be a little too early for me to be casting dispersions on any one character, but yeah, don't like him.I can usually forgive instances of plot-armour, but this just bugged me for whatever reason.

Son of a bitch. But Chibi-Arts Erika comes with her infamous, patented final episode face!
Well goddamnit, I ordered Peace.
I'm so bad about these things >_

Looks fantastic.
I'm glad David Production cut all of Jojos budget in order to save up for Neptunia this summer. This is a show that deserves nothing less than the finest production quality.
Too much work. And all of NeoGAF has yet to see the glory that is Fate/Zero.

While we're waiting, Disney has released Paperman on youtube, so everyone who hasn't seen it should watch it.

Harsh. Ben-To + JoJo have made me a David Production fan.I somewhat doubt David Production and finest production quality will ever belong in the same sentence.
I dont think many could handle getting beyond the first episode.

Tetsuwan Birdy: Decode - S2 - complete
Alright, time for a more sober reflection. The final two episodes delivered everything I wanted. Nothing more, and nothing less. While the second season is significantly better than the first, on the whole, I think both seasons are trips worth taking.
Without spoiling anything, the basic premise of the show is that Birdy and Tsutomu occupy the same body. Tsutomu is an average high school student, and Birdy is a federation investigator (or action hero, if you like), tracking down a band of rogue agents. They are two separate personalities, but their shared body can flip back and forth depending on their needs (this is explained in the first episode). The first season focuses heavily on Tsutomu, while the second focuses on Birdy herself.
The first season is more or less a set-up, and the second season changes drastically in tone, becoming more of a cat-and-mouse thriller. The only issue is while the mood is fitting, the plot wears itself clearly on its surface, with nothing too unexpected ever coming to light. Despite this shift, the show also never delves into any intellectual pondering (as the cyber punk and sci-fi genres often do). These things (plus some other distractions) keep the show from ascending to the status of a classic, but it remains a very solid effort nonetheless. There are some cliff-hangers and a minor reveal at the end, but nothing you can't see coming, and nothing incredibly important either.
While Tsutomu's story, character evolution, and setting are all somewhat mundane - Birdy's story (and her world) are far more interesting, and they are given proper treatment. Her character is already fully developed, but we see her upbringing, and the events that shaped her. As a child Birdy is cute, playful and energetic. She is also athletically capable and equally unashamed to wear almost nothing as she is as an adult. The events that shaped her aren't just revelatory since they also tie in directly to the plot. So the flashback episodes serve as more than just character building. There is also some ethical inquiring about the nature of raising people as machines with planned purposes, but again, it doesn't go very deep, nor does it change the nature of the characters. Regardless, as an adult Birdy emits a sort of stone-cold Samus Aran vibe when executing her mission objectives, and elsewhere she is just human enough to relate to. She is emotionally and physically solid, with few weaknesses. Her conflicts don't come from within, but rather from the limitations of other people (namely Tsotomu - who becomes less and less a burden to the point of not even existing by the end). But to be honest, there is still nothing more sexy than a strong and intelligent woman, capable of sorting her own shit and standing toe to toe with anyone. There is also a female antagonist in the second season who is equally attractive for her desires to be matched in strength and determination. This series has babes who will wreck your shit.
Birdy is somewhat known for having quite a bit of action sakuga (even when nothing is happening, for instance, when Nataru walks down a hallway), and the final episode is no exception. A fight rages on for nearly half the episode and the great deal of it is fully animated - backgrounds included. However, the sakuga here exudes low-budget and time constraints - but there is some kind of charm in how simplistic the forms become when in motion. Everything sort of turns into like, a wonderful little student-like, one-man effort (whether it really is or not I don't know) while retaining a high level of energy and emotion. It really is a spectacle to see, and at times even appears borderline experimental. I wish we could get a new top talent movie out of this series, because the action is so good. Overall I'd say this show is a solid second tier series. I absolutely recommend it to anyone who has already seen all of the classic action anime out there, as it is sure to satisfy.
Some screens from the last episode

I can't deal with this.

Hyakko 1-6
You don't say.
Watchable but unremarkable slice of comedic life with cute girls and far too much quality. It's better than Hidamari Sketch, but then so is having your teeth extracted.I'm kidding, they're about equal.
And they never will.
Fate/Zero 22-25
Okay yeah, that was pretty awesome. Rider da boss was by far the best character in this, no question.
I liked the part where. Also, was it ever explained just who the hellKirei and Kerrytugu had their showdown in Bruce Wayne's basement from the Dark Knight? CG Berserker is still an ugly piece of shit and the wholeMaiya was and why Kerry seemed to care more about her than his own wifefelt completely barebones and just thrown in there.Lancelot reveal and backstory
Kariya lol.
The biggest disservice with the finale is easily that they had to tie it into FSN somehow. It's understable that they pretty much had to but disappointing nonetheless.
.Fuck Shirou
I'm actually curious if that reveal is better handled in the LNs. In regards to Maiya,I thought she was taken in much in the same manner he was. She definitely had the same reverence for him that he did his mentor. I wouldn't be surprised if some of his affection towards her came from Irisviel effectively having an expiration date. Looking ahead and all that.

They'd be missing out on the glory that follows.
Yeah. I'm not fond of wide faces. Surprise.
People have said thereveal has a lot more to it in the novels, which is exactly why everyone is so upset that they added nothing for the blu-rays.Lancelot
This is what liking Guilty Crown does to people.
