I get the complaints because why mention anything if you can't be at all specific but if the leaks of "special sauce" are bullshit, we'll know soon enough. If it's all just made up, what ultimately does it accomplish, other than to humiliate the "insiders" especially when it's someone like aegies, who can't just slink away with his anonymity?
I'm willing to consider the possibility that there is significantly more to learn for now, while people are willing to put their reputation on the line.

Care to tell me how the hell that sounds like backwards compatibility? All it's say is that PS+ will carry over to the next console released by Sony.
It can be interpreted either way really. When someone asks a question because they are not sure about investing in money in PS+ now with next generation is around the corner, they are most probably asking this because they are concerned if the stuff they purchase/get via PS_+ will carry over.
The reps answer is a bit vague really. It could mean everything will carry over or that the ps+ service will be there for next gen as well

I wonder if you will have to pay for the compatibility like you did with the Vita and PSP. I'm sure most people on here wouldn't mind doing that at all.
The clear interpretation of "PS+ is here to stay" is that PS+, which refers to the service, isn't going anywhere. Suggesting that there will be reasons PS4 owners will want to subscribe, without saying what those reasons might be.

also, FF4 is one of the most remade/re-released FF in the entire series.
BioHazard/Resident Evil 4 has been released on basically every platform in existence.
Not necessarily b/c. It may be PS Mobile and PSN cross-platform games, or even cross-play.
The silliness goes both ways. While I share the opinion that the PS4 looks more capable so far, I'm also keeping an open mind that they could still end up as wash in performance. Some people here are already convinced one will be more powerful than the other and even seem bothered by the thought that both would be comparable.
It's foolish to have a mind made up already over how much we don't know but it looks like some here are willing to do just that.
It is obvious that PS+ will be on PS4 and he just confirmed that. There is nothing about any BC here.
They will have just program for PS4 probably from start.
600Gflop difference. half bandwidth. all from AMD even with the same CPU.
If they will end up like this. Orbis will be just more powerful like PS2 to GC.
I doubt there is any souse that can fill hole like this in performance but maybe they will leak redesign with stronger GPU... ?
IMO i think they use worse hardware to keep cost low. Durango will have Kinect integrated so they need to keep cost low to stay competitive (thanks to that lower spec)
If Durango would use same hardware as PS4, with Kinect price of system would be above PS4. (maybe even a lot)

I have a bad feeling some on both sides are going to be disappointed, and some will have a meltdown. E3 should be amazing.

That's cool that you're willing to be one of those people I was referring to, but I just can't settle for any assumptions without knowing the whole story. I don't believe in any special sauce and I couldn't care less which of the two did turn out more powerful, but IMO some people are just easily convinced because it's what they want to happen.
I much rather wait and see how it turns out and go from there.
I'm going by what was posted in the Durango thread. It sez 170 GB/s unified. At the time I posted, there were no other specifics other than that. Gimme info, plz?

Going to be the Best E3 in years! I think we will see a literal implosion from all 3 fanboy camps with what is expected to be there. I may have to take a few days off so i can spend more than a few hours there this time.

I agree I'm really tired of all the special sauce shit too. If you've got something concrete then spill it otherwise shut up and deal with the Orbis leaks. It comes off as being really bitter and defensive.
I am not one of those people. I frankly don't care since i will probably buy both.

Oh, there is no doubt that this will be the best E3 in a long time and the industry fucking needs it to be.
And all the while, juicy Durango info is getting scarce while Orbis leaks are pouring. It really sucks.
The Durango thread seems like a wasteland. Maybe MS really has their shit locked down.

I think Perkel has always stated that his opinions are based on what we know regarding the leaks. That is what is going on in these threads. Assumptions based on the limited info we have. Nobody (i hope) is making absolute statements.
With the information we have its sketchy specs vs fairy dust. Sadly you can quantify sketchy specs, you cant quantify fairy dust and that is where we are at.
I would rather take a wait and see approach but that isn't as fun. This thread would only be the OP is that was the case.
I think it would take a Xbox jump over PS2, and GC for that to be possible.
I mean like SC: Chaos Theory, Riddick, and Doom 3 on Xbox compared to anything on PS2 and Gamecube.

Absolutely, and based off some mid tier game comparison as we've seen in this thread, used as evidence that consoles are about equal.
There will be no BC at launch. No actual data but creation of PS3 emulator when they have full hands with API creation and tweaking system is just not going to happen. Maybe in future like a year or two.
I want to see graphics that are just not possible on the other without one version choking.
Look at Crysis 3 on Xbox 360/PS3 vs. PC. It's ridiculous how much stuff was cut back and it's still not performing completely optimal.
And still PC Crysis 3 is constrained by multiplatform development.
This gen should die already. It is stopping evolution.
