EVO 2K13 Player's Choice: Donate money to breast cancer and get your favorite game in

Donated a dollar to 3rd Strike just to get it over Injustice and out of last place. I have more love in my heart than that for the game but I just can't justify it.

It's counterable by SOME of the characters in the roster. Olimar, for example, can't really do a single thing about it. Not even against DK.
Yikes. >_<

Still, that seems like an odd ruling. Techniques have been discovered in the past that make characters trash and not been banned. I suppose not for Smash, but it's not unheard of in fighting games I think?
rule lists for brawl tournaments are some of the funniest things ever

Unless you played Melee, in which case they're depressing.

Hilde was banned in SC4 and Akuma in ST/HDR.

Why would that be the case? The ruleset between the two games are not all that different (barring stuff like number of lives and stage selection).

And to answer your previous question, planking is not banned, just limited. Even with the limit, people have still managed to perform it for prolonged periods of time in matches anyways.

it sounds a lot funnier when people don't dress it up with the term "planking":

playing too defensively is grounds for disqualification so you're only permitted to play a little defensively

Well, I did my part and I would like to congratulate the entire team behind SG. Developers, voice actors, etc. all of them did an amazing job.

And also kudos to the smash community, man, they really did something amazing!

Too bad bronies were cut from this madness so early, it would have been even crazier!

So much respect for all 3 of these groups going in so hard for their games. With so much invested, I feel bad for those that dont win.

Also is the SG build being played on stream using an updated color scheme? I havent played in a while and its looks so much brighter than I remember.

Mike about to go under the trimmer.

Each character in the build has a bunch of extra color palettes, but that is about it. Maybe you should check your TV settings. Skullgirls absolutely SCREAMS on correctly calibrated television.

Melee doesn't have any tentative rules that were tossed on there because the game is absurdly boring when played optimally. In Melee the best possible strategies get you wins, in Brawl they get you banned. Wobbling is the exception to this and a sore spot on the ruleset in my eyes, but that doesn't come close to the number of checks in place to prevent players from being too defensive.

On topic, here comes Skullgirls. If they're the ones to deseat Melee I won't even be mad and would love to see them come EVO.

When there is no way to crack that defense, then there is obviously a problem with the method being used and therefor it should not be allowed.

You'd be surprised at how much people can do with 35 ledge grabs lol.

there's playing defensively and then there's poking your opponent and turning invincible by hanging off an edge for 8 minutes

it is, by definition, defensive; it's not my problem that playing the game with the explicit goal of winning destroys people's idea of The Right And Honorable Way To Play My Favorite Video Game

As far as I can tell, the planking stuff is the only thing on there that's a rule against defensive play. If you're referring to the stalling rule, there's a difference between "playing defensively" and "making the game unplayable." The latter is always banned in every other game, so...

It's not invincible though.

Just don't pick characters that can't deal with planking.

Olimar is one of those characters and he's second on the tier list lol.

can't wait for someone to play halo at mlg where they discover that you can kill someone then exploit into an unreachable part of the map and win the match by staying there

all's fair, it's in the game
