Microsoft making at least four new IPs

And then you realized that they brought it on themselves with their actions (or lack of!) in the last few years. You can't blame anyone at all for being skeptical. If they bring the goods people will be quiet.
It'll still be here in full force when they do, which is the sad part

Ryse was always said to be some sort of hybrid game using the Kinect and controller, recent rumors have it as a "better with Kinect" game.

Was it ever stated which studios the naughty Dog and Irrational guys MS hired are going to? I don't remember them stating they were for 343I.
Two irrational guys are working for the core publishing team, one is a producer on multiple projects and the other is doing techical stuff.

The ND guy is a mystery as where he fits. There are two Sucker Punch guys working on a next generation project for MS.

Another thing that does not fit is that MS is looking for a Narrative Designer with passion for FPS in Richmond VA, but they don't have a studio there (As far as I know). It's not a typo, the job listing has been doing the rounds on other sites too.

Still trying to find zie patterns.

Not to devalue what is sure to be an extremely used and quality gif, but this thread is less "Xbox vs. Playstation" and more "shitting in a thread with inane and unneeded cynicism vs. not being a complete asshat over the internet".

More new IPs are great. Just please don't be heavily Kinect focused. Minimal integration is fine but don't go overboard with it unless it's build from the ground up with Kinect in mind.

Speaking of Kinect integration it would be interesting what 3rd party games come up with if Kinect 2 comes with every model. Even if it's minimal would be a nice difference than cross-platform exact same experience. Let alone that light thing surrounding the tv, super finishes in fighting games exclusive no doubt. Tournaments would be interesting.

I think I would be raising my hopes too high if one of these IPs is for a mascot platformer game.

I would gladly return to the XBox scene if that were the case though!

Just read through this thread. Goddamn the assumptions and conjectures people are making are blowing my mind. Someone even said Microsoft doesn't have a plan, that's how insane this thread is.

I don't want any of them to involve Kinect and what are the chances they show them at E3 ?

All of them will have some sort of Kinect functionality integrated since Kinect will be packed in with all nextbox SKUs. Though this doesn't mean that these games will be Kinect focused games.

All or most of them being Kinect games is quite possible.

They'll probably be multiplayer, co-op third person shooters controlled through Kinect and covered in ingame advertisements about TV shows.

That should cover all bases.

They guy is one of the managers running the "Core" publishing initiative. Almost all the positions have already been filled (Some have been working there for two years signing deals). Most of their joblistings have this signature phrase:

There are some different projects floating around:

very nice work. thanks.

RPG huh? Marlow Briggs - RPG set in noir futuristic world. MY GOD! I hope that's what they have planned. :D

Well now we know what all those new studios Microsoft opened over the last few years have been doing. Destiny halo 2 anniversary and two new first party IPs at launch would probably make for a pretty strong launch. I would assume the other two new IPs will launch for next holiday because 4 new IPs at launch seems a little crazy.

Halo 2 came out in 04.

crazy? they need to start as they mean to go on. four, new and more importantly good IPs at launch would silence a lot of the complaints about abandoning the core and will hopefully sell enough to show microsoft that there's demand for new, good IP.

Every Durango game will have Kinect functionality.

You need to be a little broader.

should be interesting if true. I hope the next fallout has some voice command elements like skyrim.

man, doing the dragon shouts is amazing and pretty darn funny at time.

BigPark is also reportedly working on a AAA title at the moment (developers of Joy Ride). I assumed they were working on a crappy motion control-based game, but it's supposedly going to be a big new IP for Microsoft. I don't think we'll hear about it until next year, though. (If anyone's wondering, I heard this from a friend of someone who did a co-op work term there.)

Taking Microsoft's past 3 E3s or so into account I'm gonna say they're all gonna be shit. I don't think my faith in MS could get any lower. They're gonna have to work real hard to convince me to buy their next system. And I own like 50 games for their current one.

Gonna take some effort to build that bridge again.

It's like MS took GAF to the prom, then ditched them and started making out with someone else, thinking "Ehhhh...someone else'll give 'em a ride home."

I can understand this, but at the same time, the presentations weren't wholly devoid of stuff for the core gamer, it simply wasn't a first party reveal fest or full of exclusive titles.

I wonder how that is going to far at launch. Will people overlook stuff for the bigger titles in line-up?

everything is shaping up very nicely. now we need to hear about some of those ps4 launch titles. :D

well done, sir. well done. lol.

Don't expect much. There hasn't been a Sony console yet with an amazing launch lineup, it takes at least a year to really get going. It wouldn't shock me at all if MS repeats the 360 and has a much better launch lineup.

Kinect sports is great. The bowling alone is worth the price of the whole system. I love seeing the replays after the game. Also, since Kinect, how has Microsoft imploded as a gaming company? I know you said "to you" but what types of games did they not deliver on that you were hoping for? I had so many games to play, so many types, so many genres, I just don't have nearly the time to play them all. What is it that you are looking for that ms does not provide as a gaming company? Just curious because Sony and MS are identical to me as far as enjoyment (I play xbox more as I have a ton of xbla games). I own both systems and will own the next two.

Also, I see this new narrative on GAF that MS is losing the "core" gamer. Where the fuck did this start? Unless I'm dead wrong, isn't MS going into the "next generation" with strong sales of the 360, kinect, and xbl subscriptions? Was there some huge ms only dropoff that showed that "core" gamers were tired of ms?

I have a PC. The absolutely only thing that matters to me is exclusive titles to these systems. Since Kinect, the Xbox 360 has become a wasteland of horrifically controlling garbageware, including the Kinect Sports abomination that you're lauding here, the system has basically been devoid of any interesting exclusive properties. It had ONE game since Kinect came out that I was able to fall in love with, and that's Forza Horizons. And even then, I'm just being nice - everything from them is fucking Fables, Halo, Forza or Gears or some shitty Kinect game that only a mother could love.

So if because of Microsoft's new focus they have no compelling exclusives, the system is basically worthless to me. That is what they have become since Kinect.

You're going to be pleasantly surprised.

MS had a fantastic launch but post launch was woeful- the wait for oblivion was excruciating.

I blame that on more of a lack of XBLA titles... There really wasn't much to tide us over - don't even think Microsoft was exactly prepared for how popular XBLA would be :p

true enough. I'm hoping they'll push the boat out this time though. most of their studios have rumoured to be working on next gen titles for some time, so unless they pull a nintendo and hold back titles for strategic reasons, I think we might be in store for a great line up.

personally though, I thought the ps3 launch line up was great. ridge racer 7, motorstorm, resistance, virtua fighter 5.

How many exclusives did they both have announced before the systems launched last time? Must have been around twenty each. So to shock me, they need about thirty I guess.
