Iwata implies he may resign over poor business performance

Killzone vita is going to do as much as resistance or call of duty on vita

I suspect Killzone will be better promoted than either of those two. Not sure what effect it would have.

(Call of Duty had a tonne of promotion, of course, but not *all* that much pointed at the Vita version)

I wonder if Sumo would be up for it. Nintendo's got a reasonable relationship with Sega, they could put in a good word

NONONONONONO!

The last thing Nintendo needs to do is farm out their IP to more western devcos.

Nintendo have the best developers in the industry. The best funds, The best IP.

They need to make use of it. I want EAD goodness man! ALL OVER MY FACE!

Their online strategy is Iwata's fault too by the sounds of it.

His Nintendo has no confidence "we can't compete with live". It's not about competing, it's about providing the basics! An account system is not complicated. Hell, their system is complicated as fuck!

I miss the Nintendo that traded blow for blow.

If Iwata wants to save his job as well as the other items i've listed earlier, he needs to:

1. Cancel Pikmin 3
2. Sack Miyamoto or at least curb his influence on shit thats none of his goddam business
3. Sack Reggie in a very humiliating way, maybe on Youtube. We need to rebalance.
4. Strong NOA that has it's own set of devs, making games that appeal to dudebro little jimmys.

Stopped reading at: "Cancel Pikmin 3". Pikmin 3 is nearly finished. Why should they cancel it? That is just silly.

you know, i've been in this game a lotta years, and i got out alive. if you want my advice, give the shit up.

Iwata & Reggie is doing the best they can. There is a lot of hate and I don't think they deserve that. However, there is someone @ the big N that is not doing the homework.

releasing 7 year old hardware is not doing the best they can. Sooner or later it will catch up to them.

Guys,

Right now the 3DS is crippled with wasting CPU power on a crap 3D gimmick and powering a 2nd screen.

3DS was just as expensive as the Vita. Sony just hasn't dropped the price yet.

I would rather Nintendo have invested the money in a more powerful console with a better screen and better thought out controls then just a DS with 3D.

Have we all forgotten about the 2nd analog add on???

Iwata is an assclown!

In fact, it's more GPU power used for 3D. Also, calling it crap 3D proves you just have no idea of what you're talking about. In fact, a lot of people like 3D you know. And I can say I wouldn't drop 3D after playing Kid Icarus or Super Mario 3D Land. I rather take 3D over a higher res screen for sure.
About your 2nd screen comment... what's your idea ? Dropping it ? Then kill backward compatibility ? lol. In fact, The second screen proved to be pretty usefull. At worst, you can display a map, which is still usefull, as OoT 3D proved. There's also a lot of gameplay things you can do with it. Also, what would have changed for Nintendo to invest more money in a more powerfull 3DS ? I mean, games are running well, and it's powerfull enough for developpers to make their idea possible. Then again, just look at Kid Icarus, or Resident Evil Revelations.
About the 2nd stick analog add on, I think this is more a thing Capcom asked. Otherwise, 3DS is doing fine without that 2nd stick. Sure it would be better, but still.

Asking for my Nintendo games to be made by Nintendo is controversial?

I don't see your point this time. I think Retro did a pretty good job with Metroid and Donkey Kong. Back in the Rare days, Star Fox Adventures was also a nice game. Next Level Games has done a good job with Punch-Out!! and it seems that Luigi's Mansion 2 will be good too.

Wireless audio/video streaming was a rarity seven years ago...and touchpads too.....and I doubt that AC3 would have run on the computer I had then. I simply don't agree with you. That said. I probably won't be buying a Wii U. But that is more because I have a good PC and a hell of a videogame backlog.

RIP Brera :(

People that want to play Killzone want to do that on a 50" screen. I'm not sure why Sony thinks otherwise.

I forgot no 5. Let EA handle the WiiU online including the online shop.

That would have been smart business sense,

No it wouldn't. They would lose a revenue stream from online sales, or at least get a far smaller slice.

I don't play on pc much, but where is EA suddenly a master of online marketplaces? I thought people griped about Origin all the time?

I would be sad to see Iwata go, but perhaps it's time.

I think I already posted it but a third year loss in a row would mean the boot for pretty much any CEo in this world.

also EA could prevent other third parties like capcom, square enix, konami, sega, activision, ubi from comming to the platform

I think people are getting hung up on his playful delivery and ignoring his right to opinions. People don't like having their opinions challenged. Renegades are doomed to being marginalised.

No problem with opinions being challenged.

Brera was not doing that. At all. It was rare that he acknowledged any points which ran contrary to his.
He made me smile. It's nice to feel happiness.

Personally, I find that I am able to enjoy a debate better when the guy I'm debating against isn't behaving like a wibbling imbecile.

Weird, I am often at opposition to most major opinions in a thread and people don't treat me like an idiot or a troll.

is brera permabanned? you are sounding extremely sad for just a regular ban of a fellow gaffer?

Are you sure there isn't a Twitter feed somewhere trying to mock you and your ideologies?

His tag says it all. When he posts, he doesn't do so in some brash way, he does so in a reasonable way that can lead to some healthy discussion. Brera was not doing that most of the time.

If your ideologies include such gems as "I blame Nintendo for the current state of AAA Japanese development. DmC would never have happened with a strong Nintendo being Nintendo" and "Iwata killed the Gameboy and I will never forgive nor forget.a Miyamoto/Iwata conspiracy against the legacy of Nintendo's greatest employee" and "I wouldn't be surprised if Miyamoto set him up to fail with the VB. Its no mystery that Metroid has been absolutely raped under Miyamoto", you're setting yourself up for a bit of ribbing.

If Brera took this thread as a joke and a laugh as you suggest, I'd guess you're getting offended over nothing, really.

Dude, give it time. If you spent the last few days running around doing graffiti with someone and they finally got nabbed by the cops, it would take a while to adjust to their absence.

I honestly don't mind a good troll character. In general, when I watched wrestling, good heels entertained me more than the faces. However, I think sometimes some ignore the real craft of being a good "bad guy." The best trolls know when to strike with poignant, pithy remarks, or how to truly unleash a verbose and scathing diatribe. When backed into a corner with accusations that all they do is disrupt, they can demonstrate real knowledge of the topic to show that they're not being entirely disingenuous.

Brera? He just seemed like someone who discovered that if you make bombastic claims persistently and reply tirelessly to everyone who replies to you, you can get a lot of attention. In short, he came across like someone desperate to be a wacky, recognizable character.

sin & punishment 2 should have never happened, and somehow it did. i heard somewhere that the first game did extremely well on vc in america- and why not? it was pent-up demand from over a generation of wanting to play the game, even after several n64 projects had found themselves cubeside.

and not only did it come out, but it had a commercial, voice acting, online leaderboards- the works. they didn't just slap some shit together and call it a day (the although the acting is questionable at best, but this is nintendo here). and it went on to sell about 60,000 units. maybe 100,000 worldwide.

is that good or bad? I mean this is Sin and Punishment we are talking about, I kind of expected exactly those numbers.

And now everyone new to Wii can pick up an amazing game, superior to anything Starfox, for like 5 bucks.

Just check how many casual games are on the top selling positions next to the core ones. It doesn't change the fact that Wii audience was heavily casual orientated just because some core targeted games are among the best selling games.

The Wii Sports numbers pretty much confirm that a huge concentration of the Wii market just bought Wii for play it and anything else.

What? A game which was a pack in for 2/3 territories mean that people only wanted to play Wii Sports? Let's just ignore the tie ratio and sprout silly things to make a point!

OT: I like Iwata, and I hope for the best. Iwata is such a great, honest, and wise man imo. All this Iwata hate makes me sick. :/

He's not all that though. He kept saying online wasn't important, while online just took off around the world. He seems to be blowing off cloud gaming as if it's irrelevant. He stayed with terribly outdated tech resulting in a complete disinterest by most big publishers for an entire generation. He launched a handheld at such a price with so little to offer that they had their first ever yearly loss as a game company and he had to take a paycut and cut the price of the system within the first 6 months. He's just launched a home console that Nintendo themselves dont know how to sell, and third parties yet again aren't currently interested.

He hit lightning in a bottle with Wii after a big gamble, and didn't have faith in the DS given the fact it was a 'third pillar' and the GameBoy was still going to be their main handheld.

He took some punts and they paid off due to timing. You can call that genius but I call it lucky. Wii U is unfortunately looking to be pretty similar so far.

Apart from releasing the Wii U a year earlier, and moving Zelda SS to it, it's hard to see what Nintendo could have done differently. They don't have the resources to support 3 consoles all by themselves, which is what they are forced to do since 3rd parties want them dead.

They don't have ulterior motives like Sony and MS, who have never made money in games overall and use it as a trojan horse. Nintendo need to create hardware that they believe makes games fun because that's all they've got.

thats the problem

they had the money and didnt rectify their output

Amem, brother. There's still sanity in this world, after all.
