Did you know Jimmy Carter once had a recorded sighting prior to his election? Reagan too is said to have witnessed something remarkable with his wife Nancy on their way to a party; he would go on to invoke the subject of UFOs several times in his presidency. There is a strikingly long history of interest from the White House on this topic. In a signed statement to Congress, August 22, 1960, Former CIA Director Vice Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter stated: "It is time for the truth to be brought out... Behind the scenes high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense.... I urge immediate Congressional action to reduce the dangers from secrecy about unidentified flying objects."
Former President Jimmy Carter said this of his own sighting in 1973: "There were about twenty of us standing outside of a little restaurant, I believe, a high school lunch room, and a kind of green light appeared in the western sky. This was right after sundown. It got brighter and brighter. And then it eventually disappeared. It didn't have any solid substance to it, it was just a very peculiar-looking light. None of us could understand what it was." He would then go on to say during his election campaign three years later, "One thing's for sure, I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified objects in the sky. If I become President, I'll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and the scientists". As President, this failed to materialised. He cited "defense implications" as a reason.
Former Vice President Dan Quayle recalls: "The alien situation is a very interesting. There are people out there that really believe it. We literally spent some time looking at this but there was nothing conclusive that came of it.
Speaking in a 2005 interview, Carter states: "all of a sudden, one of the men looked up and said, 'Look, over in the west!' And there was a bright light in the sky. We all saw it. And then the light, it got closer and closer to us. And then it stopped, I dont know how far away, but it stopped beyond the pine trees. And all of a sudden it changed color to blue, and then it changed to red, then back to white. And we were trying to figure out what in the world it could be, and then it receded into the distance."
During a Q & A in 2005, Former President Bill Clinton was asked about the alleged Roswell crash in the late 40's. He stated: "I had people in my own administration who were convinced there was a conspiracy [about extraterrestrials], so I sent someone there to investigate and it turned out to be just boring defence work so we didn't want anyone to know about. I don't think it happened - I think there are rational explanations. I did attempt to find out if there were any secret government documents that reveal things, and if there were, they were concealed from me too. I wouldnt be the first president that underlings have lied to, or that career bureaucrats have waited out. But there may be some career person sitting around somewhere hiding these dark secrets even from elected presidents. But if so, they successfully alluded me. And Im embarrassed to tell you, I did try to find out."
Just a few years prior, however, John Podesta - Clintons Chief of Staff declared in a press conference: "It is time for the government to declassify records that are more than 25 years old and to provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon". When he worked for the Clinton White House Podesta was in charge of a project to declassify 800 million pages of intelligence documents.
The most recent White House figure to comment publicly on the topic was none other than Dick Cheney; his response could be construed as tongue in cheek or suggestive. Click on the link below to watch a documentary on the details of this entire topic
