I'd buy that for a dollar.
What is the point of publishing something like this?
To wrap it up in a neat bow and make Ninja Theory look like it wasn't their doing. To try & con retailers to re-order DmC.
Even more relevant:Always relevant.
I think this is giving the hardcore DMC fans too much credit.
I think the bigger problem is that it is HARD for 3rd person action games to find a mass market apeal in today's environment. I think maybe part of this has to do with Japan going portable crazy. Part perhaps has to do with the funneling of games down RPG or FPS (or a combination therefore) lines. I mean how many 3rd person action games can we list in recent years that didn't make money or barely scraped by?
I loved this game. I would like to see more. It's sad that it didn't do very well, but let's not give the the crusaders too much credit just because they yell really loud.
This is the logical response. These types of games just don't sell like they used to, unfortunately.I think this is giving the hardcore DMC fans too much credit.

Yet the fans revolted because Capcom dared to reinvent its IP for the 21st century and dared to change the colour of Dante’s hair. It’s really very sad.
A headline suggested by a colleague: “Devil May Cry fans destroy brand out of spite.” That about covers it.
A website based in the UK hilariously defends Ninja Theory like the company is a precocious child.
How quaint.
That's really not true, though. From my admittedly anecdotal evidence, DMC wasn't all that niche in the last gen. Hack n slash adventure games were pretty popular back then, though (and it's why so many were made). Now, however, things have really changed. The DMC series was actually fairly consistent in sales. It wasn't GoW numbers or anything, but 2m+ was pretty much a given for each entry. It's a series that's very much driven by hardcore fans because it really doesn't have the huge player base. Capcom couldn't afford to piss those fans off, and yet that's exactly what they ended up doing. That's why over the last year or so of development they were desperately trying to convince those fans that this was still the DMC that they knew and loved. But they damage was already done.
He's a paid journalist and wrote "surely of seen"? Wow.
Is it really that simplified, though? I mean, for the top 1% of fans, perhaps, but I suspect the vast majority of people who have played Devil May Cry would find adequate depth in the fighting system. It's a solid system that works well and offers plenty of challenge on the higher difficulty levels.Tameem said dumb shit in public at the worst time possible that was never going to go down well, and the game itself is currently targeted purely over the simplified gameplay compared to previous entries.

He hasn't gone out of his way to insult gamers. He's just too emotionally invested in the financial data he's reporting. Sloppy way of going about it. Same problem with Pachter sometimes, he'd be better off being the clueless analyst who doesn't actually play the games.

HAPPY NOW?!
People still think gamers didn't buy it because of Dante's hair? lol
HOW DARE CONSUMERS NOT PURCHASE PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT APPEAL TO THEM?

I can tell you haven't even played the game.problem with DmC is its a mediocre action gme made by people well know for making mediocre action games.
It lost the draw of devil may Cry when it replaced the main character with a unlikeable dick. Screamed fuck you at the player and dumbed the combat to a snails pace.
Makes sense. DMC4 was solid but fell short with its ideas. Honestly though I think both versions of the franchise could co-exist, ala Prince of Persia (where's my 2008 sequel?)
Proofreader May Cry."of seen"
Keep riding that strawman..Yet the fans revolted because Capcom dared to reinvent its IP for the 21st century and dared to change the colour of Dantes hair

Where did this "DMC was all but dead before the DmC announcement" meme come from?
I can tell you haven't even played the game.
Where did this "DMC was all but dead before the DmC announcement" meme come from? Wasn't DMC 4 the highest selling title of the franchise? It's probably just one more case of glorious west/lol Japan.
Looks better than this shit.Welp. His hair is white and he's still terrible. Looks like they were wrong!
Systems aside, the game is easy as hell. It sure looks purdy on the PC though. In regards to sales, do these numbers include the PC version? I'm sure a number of people, myself included, skipped out on the console version (which was released earlier) in favor of the PC version.
Or did the PC version completely tank?
