anything about $399 is too much and will backfire in the USA. even $450 is too much. $499 would put them back in the same situation as the PS3. they need to sell consoles and selling it at $399 is the max you can go in the USA.

Would not say people are poor. The average person spends $700~ a year on entertainment/tv/electronics.

If you sell a $500 console, they will at most pick up 1 or 2 games, assuming that money is not spent on ANYTHING else in those categories.

A nikkei article up on their site about an hour ago has no price info but says the ps4 will be announced at the play station meeting, will use Gaikai's cloud tech, and include enhanced network features that will allow players to exchange "ideas" while they play (like the wiiu?). No English yet I think for the article.

I jumped in on the PS3 wagon when it dropped to $399 and MGS4 came out. So if this comes out of the gate at $399 I'll bite. That is, unless they make that the tard pack and I'm pretty much forced to get the premium one, in that case we shall see.

I was kinda hoping for a pricey beast with no bells and whistles just raw power. 399 launch and you know we're going to get average components where they're cutting corners wherever possible. Bleurgh. If not a console beast (i.e. from what I've read of Durangos rumoured specs I would hardly classify it anywhere near BEAST status) then I will flag and keep with PC/whatevr
