The DmC Bug

Try Enslaved. It's got one of the deepest, most intricate combat systems in the genre. There are some really impressive videos out there with some insane combos. The only downside is that the platforming can be very, very tricky at times.

Devil May Cry 1,2,3,4 - I beat that.

Ninja Gaiden - I conquered that.

God of War - I mastered that.

DmC - Don't need that.

Ooooohhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are swag videos of Enslaved?

They were taken down by Ninja Theory. The explanation was that the awesomeness contained within would have been too much for the soft, squishy, fragile human brain. They've subsequently all been hidden inside the hair of Tameem Lucozades, with a liberal dollop of gel to hold them in place. You want those videos, you better hide Tameem's hair gel.

Every other action game I've played felt lame after DMC3.

It's like how every action RPG felt horribly shallow after spending 500 hours on MHFU.

Strange.. I have the memory of a goldfish and yet I was somehow able to earn all achievements for Bayonetta. I wonder how...

Oh I know. You actually don't need to memorise 50,000 moves.

Bayonetta's platinum/1000Gs is very easy to get though, since you don't have any rank requirement whatsoever. You can basically get all the achievements (except those where you need to use a specific weapon) by simply spamming a single combo as long as you can dodge well enough.

To my taste Bayonetta has too many combos (I'm not saying it's a bad thing mind you). I don't have the memory to remember them all. This is quite annoying because a thing I like when playing an action game is the ability to know every single tool in my arsenal at any single point in time. DMC4 was great for that. You have several weapons available to you at the same time, but I always knew by heart the entirety of my arsenal.

wtf. ive never learned how to do that and it looks so badass.

Which part? Table hopper is easy, just get your timing down. Same thing with the Devil Bringer. Echidna is pretty decent to try out Table Hopper timing, I thought.

Most people who played and finished DMC4 didn't know what Table Hopper actually did and even fewer people knew about the Buster utility in counter moves.

I blame shitty tutorials. Who really bothers to open up the Tutorial section in the game, watch a small video window a read the sort of useless description? It's fucking dumb, really.
One neat idea would be to transition from cutscene to gameplay, while the CPU controls your character, and performs an advanced technique so that players know that it's possible.

Edit, now that I think about it, one great, great example of this would be the Bianco Angelos cutscene when you hit HQ. Nero starts running towards them, maybe a transition where Nero would start running and as as soon as gameplay starts he drop kicks a Bianco Angelo ass.

How many hundred thousand (million?) people played through the entirety of DMC4 without knowing you could charge Exceed during moves?

me the first time through, then I saw a Youtube video and was like

Good thing about DmC: Tutorial design/loading screen sample combos/hints
among other accessibility design choices

oh fuck off with this nonsense.

I think the demo actually did a good job explaining Exceed. Too bad they didn't mention that you can get great results if you time your revving with Nero's screams.

DmC doesn't teach you everything in the tutorial/loading screen either.

It never tells you that just charging moves leads to more damage and style points. It doesn't explain how the style system works or how you are supposed to be dodging in the game (demon dodge first then angel dodge second, never use regular dodge). It doesn't teach you that Devil Triggered enemies can have their DT removed under certain circumstances. It doesn't teach you how to break Frost Knight's shields effectively.

replaying the game now on SOS and I had to learn to really use the dodge mechanic, really nice feeling when you do a perfect dodge.

I am totally fine with all this cool stuff not being explained in the tutorials. Gives rewards to players who take the time to invest in the mechanics or go online to improve themselves. I was kinda disappointed that they told you that you can throw a Flush at a Dreamrunner, he will parry it and you can then parry it back. That's the sort of thing you would post in gifs on boards and be like "WOAH I didn't know you could do that in the game!"

I'm disappointed that NT didn't make Dante's perfect dodge Table Hopper

Easily the swaggest dodge in gaming history, next to Bat Within

Table hopper is the dodging move? Shit.. lol.
Im guessing when hes dodging, they're also doing the taunting button too.

Over 200 Petabytes of pornography on the internet, and these videos are the sexiest things I've seen in a LONG while.

Table Hopper was like something I did like maybe 3 times in all the times I've beaten DMC4. Seeing them do that at will and continuously is unbelievable to me.

I feel like this happened to me, some game gave me the skill to destroy another game. Can't think of it, this post doesn't contribute much...
