Monster Hunter 3 WiiU has region locked online multiplayer (NA/EU cant play together)

OMG WII U IS THE NEXT VITA BECAUSE A 3RD PARTY REGION LOCKED A GAME THEY ALWAYS REGION LOCK!!!

Friggin WHAT! This day continues with the bad news... WTF man! WTF! I had EU friends who wanted to play! No sale for me now.

What a WiiU day. I still find it dumb the 3DS version doesn't have online, hence why I'm skipping this entry entirely. You can't show me MonHun4 releasing just a couple months later and then serve up japanese leftovers from last year and expect me to shovel them down regardless.

Nintendo is really clueless, I think they'll be forced to exit the console race soon(not handheld). It was meant to be a hardcore console, it's not even close, and most of the casuals are playing on their tablets and phones now-days. They really should have forced Capcom to include online (3ds) and region free (Wii U) if it's Capcoms fault, Nintendo paid for the exclusivity after all.

I think Nintendo should make a console with the best specs and they should make 3rd parties put every good game on the console and they should give people free games and unicorns and everything

ok.

You know, I didn't even know that MH3 on the Wii was region-locked. I played with johntv and sprsk and just kinda assumed that they were playing the Japanese version.

I guess that solves that mystery.

An odd thing to note, but this is the case:

LOCAL Multiplayer in some 3DS games is region-locked.

When my British buddy was visiting, we could not play local Mario Kart 7. Or Zelda 4 Swords, for that matter.

It was fucking stupid.

Ha, that is really bad. And Ninty used to be so good about this on their portables.

If coop net-code is so important that multi is region-locked, how the hell does fighting games manage.

You would of thought Capcom would be kings of net-code with all their experience.

This isn't surprising news in the least. Capcom, just give us off-TV play! You've already cannibalized sales by releasing 3Ds and Wii U versions at the same time. You may as well make the Wii U version sweeter since few people will care for the 3DS version due to its lack of online play.

And who is Imran Khan?

I think it's ShockingAlberto.

Before I update the OP with the Capcom thing, can someone clarify the reliability of this for me?

It's not that I doubt him, but a tweet from him is hardly an official confirmation is it?

It's not and I regret using the phrasing "for the record." There's no real record to put it on.

I will say I was told about this a few weeks back and heard the same "Well, it's just like Tri" stuff then, too. I tried finding out reasons, but didn't get anywhere.

MAN what an awful week to be a Wii U fan. Holy shit.

I'd say today was an awful day to be a Wii U fan (today was the only bad Wii U day from what I can call from this week), yesterday was a awful day to be an Xbox fan if those rumors are correct...I wonder if this means what I think this means.

Assuming it'll be localized, hopefully 4 won't be as gimped as either version of 3U. Most of my friends who are interested in playing MH online are outside of North America and soloing isn't as fun.

Well, yesterday Wii U lost Ninja Gaiden: Razor's Edge.

Yeah but I don't think that would of really hurt the Wii U, I think people that have Ninja Gaiden 3 have it now, and for the people that don't have it and the Wii U might pick up the PS3/360 version.

I mean, the Wii U isn't the only new system to lose exclusives.

It was the same on Tri and it sucked. You finally get into a room with the quest you wanted and nobody speaks English... Another reason to regret not importing my wii U.

Well this sucks. I know these are different games but I can play CoD on Wii and Wii U with my EU friends but can't on this?

Also, you can play with randoms. 70% of my multiplayer experience in Tri was with random players and I had zero problems with it.
