NVIDIA to release GeForce Titan

Can I have an internet hug? I need to be embraced by the warmth of your 680 downsampling goodness.

Oh sorry, I suck at detecting sarcasm and irony on message boards.

I'm off to the SLI campaign bus to plan my next move.

Does this campaign include free hand outs to the poor? Especially those in Sweden? Drop by why don't ya, I'm sure you could grab a few voters here and there.

I... I'm going to have to kill you for using a picture with the word 'moniter' in it, I'm sorry I wish there was another way.

Sorry, no bums Corky. This campaign is entirely focused on the loaded segment with more sense than money.

Fucking Google images!

The 480? I heard about that, saw something on National Geographic the other day - They apparently dug two of them up.

I wonder what early men used to cool their 480s, they probably offered human sacrifices to the god of the winds.

EKWB has listings for Titan water blocks on its site now. IF this thing costs more that $1000 I'm not biting.

At this rate, I may wait on anything for a year and see how prices are. I want to SLI at least 2 of these or something close. Even if it's a 7xx line GPU that isn't quite as powerful. My only worry is my 850w PSU being sufficient to power 2 GPU's that are power hungry.

I've been thinking of getting a pair of these after they become available to replace my triple GTX 680 setup. I have the EVGA Hydro Copper waterblocks which have been discontinued. Is there any demand out there for them, or will I probably have to sell at a large loss?

480 is old? Huh. I'm still rocking SLI 460's. Zero problems so far. Hopefully it will keep me going for another 6 months or so.

Yeah, $1,000 would be my limit. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting one regardless at this point (even if it was $899). But I would absolutely not bite at $1,000 even if I had the opportunity.

I'm happy enough with the 680 SLI setup, that I really would have to get two Titans to really feel it was worth getting (unless it turns out, a single Titan trumps the 680 SLI in performance. Obviously we don't have any tests or data yet).

Even if that ends up being the case, I still can't complain about my setup. At all. And I'm still thinking that even if the Titan ends up being superior, I don't think it will be leaps and bounds better. Still, I won't lie - I'll be jealous of those that get their hands on one. I'm a sucker for new GPU releases. I'll be following this release closely regardless, to see how it performs etc.

Well, if I had 680's I probably wouldn't upgrade to this and I'd just wait for Maxwell to hit. But all I have is a laptop with a gtx560m. This will be a tremendous leap for me.

85%performance of GTX690 with a single GPU

For 90% of the price.

Who exactly is in the market for this kind of GPU? One of these freaks that spends all their money trying to get the highest benchmark score for their rig?

Some people buy 50 year old cars just to store in a garage.

Everyone has a right to a hobby and building high-end PC's is in fact a very cheap one compared to a lot of stuff.

Point being....what's the point? I just don't see why they created these "Titans".

Because there's a market for it. How hard is it to understand? It'll be the fastest single-GPU card available and by a good margin if the rumored benchmarks are true, people are willing to pay good money for that. Plus it has a lot of other benefits for some people.

Well I'm getting two of these bad boys. That must make me a... Super freak. *que Rick James*

Except... I'm not spending all of my money. Just a very small fraction of it.

Cause there are games out there that even the 680 can't max at 60 fps, unless you go multiGPU. But this is one card with the power to max out pretty much anything.

Those who want to play Crysis 3 and be able to turn every option to the highest setting and maintain 60fps 100% of the time. I will settle for several options turned down a notch and wait for the next generation of cards after they properly settle in with whatever the consoles have up their sleeve.

You are young and probably have never had a real job I'd bet.

They fulfilled their Titan supercomputer contract and they presumably have K20X chips lying around that they feel would make more money being marketed as ultra high end gaming video cards than as Tesla cards. They were sandbagging because AMD had nothing that could compete with that part.

They may also be expecting more revenue from renewed interest in the Geforce brand as a whole rather than from direct sales of the Titan. Mid range cards are the reliable moneymakers, not the ~$1000 SKUs.

The 50 year old car will be worth the same or even more in 5 years. This video card will be $15 on eBay.
Not saying a hobby should be an investment, but they don't necessarily compare.

There's a massive difference in price. Ultra high end computer gaming is much cheaper than buying any decent car, sail boat etc, and compares favorably to buying high end sports gear.
