Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

Btw, how GAF will be organized for this game's online? I hope not every region on the same thread...
Why not the OP just has to make a google document or something with GAF users in different documents for each region or sort tabs.
Might as well have all Monster Hunter players in one thread discussing their experiences etc.

Took a screenshot yesterday and it was even a tad bit better: #12 and #15.

This. I don't want two MH games in less than a year. At the very least, a two year gap would be tolerable.

Technically, it would be more than a year. MH4 is releasing in May in Japan.

Personally, I would like it by 2015. That would be a year and a half, which is pretty much the time between MH3G Japan to MH3U NA/EU.

This is below Fire Emblem and Mario & Luigi in terms of desire for announced 3DS titles, but I think I'll find a way to talk myself into buying it.

I put 30 hours into Tri without wholly buying into the experience, but the enhanced ability to grind that portability brings will be a difference-maker.

Just delay MH4 as long as it takes for the WiiU/Vita port to get announced so I don't buy the 3DS version.

FYI

Best buy has a deal where you buy one WiiU game and get another for half off. It also works with preorders for a few games so If you would like to preorder MH3 and say pikmin 3 (which they have as coming in December), you get 30 bucks off of MH3!

I imagine this has to charge you the $90 instantly so you can't just cancel it.

I guess your not going to play it than...

Is there any sort of split screen multiplay in 3gu like there was in tri? will there be real coop this time or just arena matches? or neither?

Can anyone give me a list of improvement over the Wii one.

I really, REALLY wanted to love MH3 and I liked 2 on the PSP okay, but there's some things that are still a huge turn off for me. The main thing being no targeting. Doing an attack move and having the monster dodge out of the way and attack while my guy was STILL doing attack animations drove me nuts.

I sympathize with the frustration, but if that's the sort of gameplay change you're waiting around for then Monster Hunter just isn't going to be the franchise for you. That aspect of the game is built by design to emphasize positioning, prediction, and attack timing.

In strict terms of how to fundamentally play the game, the actual fighting of monsters, the core hasn't changed from the Wii version. What Ultimate adds are additional weapon classes, a few new environments, and a hell of a lot more monsters and quests than in Tri.

Ultimate has some camera re positioning button that refocuses on the monster, but no Z-Targetting as it were. There's a simple solution to overcoming the lack of targetting. Just keep playing the game.

So how much is this going to sell? Is it a system seller?

Not much and no.

We don't know how much it's going to sell, but probably not much. Maybe between 100k-150k. I know I'm getting both versions on the eShop.

And YES, it is a system-seller, many people are buying a Wii U just to play MH3U, myself included. And If Wii U continues to sell 50k in the US, I bet we gonna see a bump in March due to MH3U release.

Well, not with that attitude ;p

This is my most anticipated game for the Wii U so far, but I've never bought a Nintendo system that didn't have it's Smash game on it for at least 6 months so I'm part of the problem, heh. And yes, I'm fully aware that probably means getting this game (and my first "HD" console) in 2014/2015, but them's the breaks.

Oh boy

Just understand that you cant go into every fight expecting to win. You cant expect to land every attack. This isn't a a fast paced hack and slash, weapons have some weight to them. You have to learn each weapon type and some weapons are good against certain monsters while others not so much. The reason for no lock-on is that there are body parts you can target. I would HATE for lock-on to come to MH.

No gurl no. This will not be a system seller and we won't know this until the numbers. You can't make the assumption that it will sell tons because a few people on the Internet say they are buying one for it >_> sis

He says it won't sell much but it will be a system seller, in the sense that demonstrably quite a few people, the small hardcore MH crowd online, have bought a system just to play this game.

Gotcha.

And sis did you get your WiiU yet?

But that's the best part of the game...? You have to plan things out.

A faster weapon type like Dual Swords (not in Tri) might be more your style, maybe.

I have a feeling it will sell around Tri's numbers. Which was pretty good.

I don't think so. first of all, most people still think this is the same game as tri. I read many comments stating they won't buy it because they hated tri (it was mostly there first monster hunter game anyway). also the wiiu has nowhere near the market spread the wii had when mhtry came out...

on the other hand, wiiu haz no games, so who knows?

Do we have Japanese numbers? I suspect the handheld version sold much more.

Don't remember the exact numbers, but it was well over 1 million sales for the 3DS version.

also the wiiu

It's not just a WiiU game.

Which I guess kinda asks the question of how they'll look at sales for this game. If they look at them as a whole between both, I bet the numbers will be pretty nice.

Gonna add you even though you're in the US, but would want another Monster Hunter fan on my friend list =D.
OT: But anyone know how long Deviljho is banned for, for the necrobump?

Risk/reward is a massive part of the game, the key to being good at this game is to not get greedy, plan, position and timing your attacks is key. when you commit to an attack you should have done this, or your'll be punished, its what MH fans love and i for one would stop playing if this ever changed.

so what is the reason to buy both?

can I pick up in the game on the 3DS where I left off on Wii U?

I thought I read some issues with transferring saves have to be deleted?

I need this explained

I'm interested in creating spreadsheet for local meeting parties as part of the OT if its possible. That would be listing info such as username, city, Friendcode and NNID.

You can transfer saves between the two. You can only keep the save either on the 3DS or the Wii U. I don't know what the whole saves have to be deleted stuff is about.

This X100.

That's why I'll be getting both versions. And yes they have reworked the transferring of saves and all that stuffs so no one should be worried about that.

I'm getting a Wii U specifically for this game. :P But I really love Monster Hunter. I also wasn't planning on getting the 3DS version, but I'm really considering that Amazon deal. I'll make my final decision after playing the demo. :D Hopefully it controls ok without the CPP. I had no problem playing MHFU on PSP, so hopefully it isn't too much different.

So what do you figure are my chances of finding someone on the internet that will trade me that amazon 3DS+WiiU preorder of the game for my golden nunchuk I got from Club Nintendo?
