I think the psychological hit is not worth the $30. Just eat it. Release a "first" edition and charge 30 more. Sony understood this with the vita when they hit 250. I know the price points are not final but I wonder if crap like the ps eye is jacking up the price.

If it's $529, that means about $600-700 out of the door with a game or two, extra controller and such. That makes it a little tougher to be there day 1.

You're completely right. I found value in what I was buying. Hopefully now with TWO of them the plans will be more worthwhile. People are going to be looking at these purchases a bit differently with the inclusion of ecosystems, subscriptions, and internally linked accounts and such. It's not like just going to Gamestop and trading a PS2 for an Xbox, this is different. People will see where the value is and go there along with what games they want.

That's what I've been saying.
Any new online feature that's not in the PS3 + all the current PS+ stuff might fall under the subscription. They won't abandon free online MP play because that's a huge bullet point to check compared to Microsoft.

I mean, maybe you're right from a financial standpoint, but even if that's the case, losing Final Fantasy XIII wasn't the straw that broke the camel's back. I think PS3 hosted some great games (most notably the Uncharted series imo) since that announcement. PS3 might be in third place in the US, but it's hardly a niche gaming system only for hardcores. I think it might be doing a tad bit better than you give it credit for. I don't have the numbers off hand, but I'm sure it's software library support is a bit more substantial than gamecube's was, and no big third party releases have skipped Sony because of its lack of user-base.
I assume that's how it will work. Basic online play stays free for the bullet point, but the social features and content bonuses are premium content.

yeah I agree. Live subscriptions have slowed but are still enormous. Netizens would get over it fast or get wii us I guess. Or play on steam. Which they should do anyway!

Depends on how the triggers travel. If they have the same path as the PS3 triggers then that slight concave may not be enough.

FFXIII was symbolic of what was happening to Sony, not -the cause-. It was an emphasis that this is the last game Sony had exclusive from third parties that could have mattered, and it was no longer available to them as a poker chip.
I think this should be fairly obvious as an illustrative point, because the end result is every single thing I said ended up being true - people can see what has become of the PlayStation brand and make their own judgments, but I think the market has spoken. The fact that people keep trying to act like there is some surprising thing I said after we have seen the results for all these years remains a mystery to me.
Yeah, I'm really glad they redesigned the triggers, too.
We'll find out soon if Sony are also following suite.

They shouldnt change everything about the controller but if you are going to have triggers then have triggers, not squishy buttons your fingers slide off of that most people dont care for. There is a reason that in games that fire using the triggers on the 360 pad they avoid R2 and L2 at all costs on the PS3.
