Definitely fits within the context of this game. Here's what I think.

That guy from the pod is the new Helghast leader. He's not Stahl though, he's most definitely the guy narrating the trailer which sounds nothing like any prior characters. Devastated by the loss of his home world, he devises a plan to take over Vekta and make it the new Helghan. To do this, he manipulates the events that follow so that Vekta takes in and shelters Helghasts refugees. While segregated from the rest of Vekta, he secretly plans a massive attack to take to swiftly take over without warning. After thirty years of preparation, the bombing of the VSA tower in the demo marked the beginning of their re-invasion.

I like the way you think

Has anyone else caught this.

Shuhei Yoshida- IGN interview

"3D was a big thing a couple of years ago — we made it a big thing because it was lead by the consumer electronics side of Sony and we liked what we could do on PS3 using 3D stereoscopic," Yoshida said. "But now the consumer electronics side of Sony, or all of the companies have shifted focus from 3D TV to something else, so if they're not talking about it, why would we?".........

Oculus Rift or similar?

This sounds really cool and plausible with what we know

Watch the same demo at E3 being 1080p @60fps due to the unknown amount of RAM.

In GG we trust!

They should definitely aim for 60fps, that would be orgasmic. But i'm content with a stable framerate at 30

Whatever it is i'm glad 3D is dead.

So watching the demo again to see if I can notice anything new gameplay wise. Everyone already seems to pick up that alt fire is back. It also looks like they are adding more abilities besides the usual cloak and disguise. At around the 5 minute mark you can see a Helghast with some sort of force field shield that is linked to his suit (it must be since it goes away when he is killed). Could be a pretty fun one for multiplayer.

The player also has the ability to enter a "bullet time" like mode for short periods of time (as evident after he kills the dude with the force field).

So the game looks great, but the run and gun gameplay was utterly mind numbingly dull. Just like in their previous games.

Why does Sony work with them? This developer is like a disabled puppy, good for nothing but you have to keep it as you feel pity.

Welcome to the modern first person shooter genre. Much of the rest of the genre must feel mind numbingly dull too. Killzone at least has tried something a little different with a proper well designed cover system to break up the typical run and gun affair. Regardless, hard to glimpse the entire game from a 7 minute demo. Besides, Sony works with Guerrilla because they're a talented studio who have developed a well received series (and Killzone 2 was critically acclaimed, in part to the gameplay too). You might just want to forget that Sony purchased the studio, expanded the studio and are giving them the opportunity to work on a launch title to sell the platform.

Anyway, I think we can expect some more open gameplay because of the fact that you're playing as a Shadow Marshall which as we know from the first Killzone are usually stealth oriented and capable of a bit more acrobatics than the usual soldier. They are kind of the best of the best so it would be neat if we see more missions based around recon and different aspects like that. We saw a glimpse of it from the demo when the player climbing up the walls and then jumps down on the Helghast soldier and knifes him and then throws his knife at the other. Probably won't be massive open areas but we'll have multiple ways to approach things without the game holding our hand. I hope anyway.

I....can't....stop watching this video.

I honestly don't even want to turn my PS3 on anymore. Anyone else have this problem?

Btw, is there a high res version of this video yet? I need 1080p in my veins.

I still remember when they showed the Pyrrhus location in Killzone 2 and being absolutely floored at what they achieved. Hopefully like Killzone 2, this will just be the tip of the iceberg. :)

Ram has nothing to do with processing images at twice the rate as 30fps.

That's true. More RAM will improve texture quality, level size and similar factors but for an actual increase in framerate (especially a jump from 30 to 60 fps) you need more processing power, not just more space.

Having a better understanding of the plot, the demo is vibing for me as far as the tone of the game. It's obvious they reduced enemy count and edited the AI to be extremely dumb so that the player wouldn't die during the presentation.

The very end of it though, where you are on the wall and the ATAC's rise up like "You're getting too close to our territory" and then the Vetkan drones coming in to back you up, resulting in a stare off. Digging this tense cold war scenario.

I turned on my PS3 last night then quickly turned it off. Everything looks like garbage now.

Except for the hd collections. They are the only games I can play without wanting to barf all over my ps3. I wanted to buy Killzone 2 & 3, but now I'll probably just play Shadow Fall and hope Sony re-releases the older ones in 1080p. I can't wait to the end of all these blurry ass games.

Why not call this game Killzone 4 or even Killzone 4: Shadow Fall? I know it's a new story and all, but who cares, it worked for CoD4 anyway. I think hype levels would rise, people love sequels.

Awesome, the YT video is a better playthrough than the one from the show, e.g. the player manages to kill the jumping Helghan near the end.

I must admit, but I really wasn't that impressed with the demo.

The city stuff looked good, but the ground segments just looked barely any better than current-gen in my opinion.

Pretty sure they look the same. The "non-bullshot" was taken from a scene without a lot of detail, and there's a blur effect going on (probably to up the intensity of that scene). It looks a lot better in videos.

In the "bullshot", the camera is positioned towards the action and the blur effect is gone.

I played God of War: Chains of Olympus after the reveal... It was interesting, but then I played the demo that released yesterday for God of War: Ascension and it felt good.

If anything this video game reveal gave me the urge to play Killzone 2 again.

Really impressive in that 1080p video.

Hopefully they get the framerate issues cleaned up by ship. I also don't like the design of the human soldiers, but whatcha gonna do.

What ? Which part . You couldnt get those particle affects and fire and chaos in any game at that scale

I prefer the gameplay visuals. Same in the ship flying past the city scape in the beginning. The lack of depth of field and focal blur in the official shots just makes it all look too static. Also seems to be missing some post processing and smoke effects.

Guerilla added a higher quality version to youtube

edit: I think its a different gameplay video of the same encounter altogether.

Looks amazing at 1080p. Really really stunning. Much better then I thought next gen would look.

They have raised the graphical bar. I bet there are devs who saw that yesterday and felt like giving up. Knowing they don't have what it takes to get to that level.

Man up devs. Man up.
