Can MS change their ram to GDDR5 or is it too late at this point?

With 16GB that 3GB OS footprint will look like a joke.
13GB of RAM to play with would be insane if the ESRAM is boosted also.

16GB would amount to 32 4Gb chips, the motherboard would be too complex.
Increasing the amount of ESRAM would reduce the yields of the SOC, they won't do that.
You can't just switch outright to GDDR5 this late in the game. We're 9 month from the holidays and these things have to go into production 6 months beforehand.
A beefier GPU would require more bandwidth to feed. Improving the GPU would also result in lower yields for the SOC.

The the move modules and the special ram on the gpu show Microsoft invested plenty of time in figuring it out. They don't need to switch.

I'd like to believe they're changing ram as we speak. Sony probably did us all a favour showing early.
Doesnt change the amount the games can really use. Just adding more slow ram will not change anything.
If they're focus is on Kinect 2.0 (which appears to be the case), then they won't have any problem in doing just that.

Switch to GDDR5 will also require monumental changes such as completely different memory controller, which will need another tape-out etc.
They can bump up the RAM amount which seems easiest of the bunch.

Assuming the leaked specs are true I very much hope they have improved the specs/ram since then. I want to like the new Xbox, but I fear that Im gonna feel deflated as we get solid information.

Microsofts focus is Kinect and the casual audience. The people who bought millions of copies of CoD, Halo, and Minecraft which are not casual games or Kinect powered.

Hear that, folks? Microsoft has abandoned the audience that made Halo 4 and Minecraft XBLA the top-selling console games in the industry in 2012.
As soon as Halo 4 released in November, Microsoft went into "screw the hardcore" mode and went full-steam ahead into Kinect-exclusive game development.

There's not even a POWER button. The Xbox will only turn on when you walk in front of the Kinect camera and it recognizes your identity from its memory database.
In fact, if someone else walks in front of the camera with you, the system requires them to flash their passport in front of the Kinect to confirm their identity. Microsoft will then start billing your guest for Xbox LIVE guest access by making automatic withdrawals from their bank account.
Other than websites leaking "rumored specs" and SuperDAE running his mouth, Durango is still vaporware PR wise.
Adding more DDR3 would also be a great way to justify reserving 3GB to the OS.

Where the fuck do people get this ideas. Sure MS can change up the hardware but that'll push the product release date to 2014. But what's with all of this constant talk of updating the hardware that hasn't even been announced yet, it's not starting well for MS and there should be at this point a lot more optimism in the air, shouldn't there?

And price point ? Microsoft had price adventage whole this generatio - at one point arcade was cheeper than Wii. As long as both are affordable it won't be automatic game winner.
Move is packed in with every ps4 also.

Every durango rumor sounds like what the ps4 turned out to be, but the controller of course. Im not accusing sony of ripping off other companies, but....
