My question is

Is my video card dying?

I turn off my monitor at night, when I go to turn it on it will turn on but then shut right off. Now I know its not the monitor because if I unplug the wire that goes from computer to monitor the monitor will go into sleep mode instead of shutting off. Also when I try to turn my monitor on I will hear sounds coming from the computer case like the fan is trying to switch on on the video card and then stops.

I try to turn it on 5-10 times and it will finally turn on. So does this mean that my video card is dying? Its a Nvidia GeForce 210.
 
I'm no tech expert but it might be a faulty fan. I think graphics cards are smart enough not to boot without a working fan, just like how computers whine like hell if you try to boot with a graphics card at all. You might find out more if you ask in the PC building thread (not sure what it's called, use google "site:neogaf.com PC" or something). I suggest opening your case and have a looksie as well.

So at night you turn off the monitor and leave the computer on? Any when you say you try to tun on the monitor and you hear sounds from the case, are you turning on the monitor or the computer?

I leave my computer on and only turn the monitor off. When I turn the monitor on in the morning I see the light turn on and hear a little buzz from the computer case. Then the monitors green light will just turn off. Then I turn it on again and again and again all while hearing the sound from the case till it finally sticks and then I get a picture. That's why I'm wondering if its just my video card going out. its about 3 years old. Monitor is about 5 years old, but I play my xbox360 on the same monitor and it never has a problem turning on and off for that. Only my computer.

It could be your PC is going to sleep/hibernate and then it takes a while to start back up, hence the many on/off on the monitor until its on. Or the video card is not coming back on properly, which could be a driver issue. You can start by cleaning out all the video card drivers and doing a fresh install. And also double check all sleep settings for Win 7.

Facebook's privacy settings are a clusterfuck of a mess, and I have searched for the setting regarding Notes.

Tried writing a Facebook Note on my Android HTC One V phone but can only view my archive, not able to publish/write a new Note.

Anyone?
 
If I delete my twitter, can I reactivate it like Facebook? I just did something stupid and I need to take a break until I get full time employment, I dot want any potential employers judging me because of that.

I believe your Twitter handle will become available again. So you're best to just delete tweets, and lock/protect your account.

Did a sample test and deleted one of my tweets that's seen on Google search feed--went back and the link to the tweet is still there, but when you click it this shows up:

Okay, I protected my twitter account, but will the unprotected people still be able to reply to my thoughts?

At least now that one person is blocking me as a result of what happened tonight, I freed up a space so I can follow Jonathan Coulton.
 
Today the police stopped me for "Not having any lights" on my bike even though i did so i'm wondering if they stopped me because they thought i was someone else. The reason i'm asking this is because he asked me if i was on probation, which is totally irrelevant to bike lights. This is my first time getting stopped for anything so i'm wondering if cops randomly ask people if they are on probation or if they thought i was someone else.
 
I have to medical related questions. Firstly I have had what I think is a spot on my face for about two weeks now and it isn't going away. Could this actually be a cyst or something?, it is a red lump but has no head on it, and it is hardish.

The second thing is a recurring spot in my pubic area below my stomach. It keeps occasionally flaring up to be a swollen, red, angry looking spot. It is really sore though. Is this something I should get checked out?. I have had ingrown hairs in the past.

How big is the area? And where exactly above your pubic area like right above the junk?

So, unless you did something to be perma-Juniored, you should be upgraded automatically soon.

I have 5 numbers
  1. The average change in spending for the last six months
  2. The average change in spending for the last five months
  3. The average change in spending for the last four months
  4. The average change in spending for the last three months
  5. The average change in spending for the last two months

If I take the average of all of those numbers, what exactly does it tell me? The average "xx"??

I believe it shows. The monthly average change in spending. IE what change you could expect to see every month. Though this seems like an ineffective way to reach that conclusion, a graph may be more useful showing the changes like if the average spending is going down or up, maybe along which causes for why months may be up and down based on events. Depends on the data and type of data.

Or perhaps I'm really out of touch with maths xD

I think it would be a weighted average. The last two months are accounted for in all of them, the last three months in all but one, and so on. So you'd get a representation of the recent average change, with some additional historical context. Or something. I dunno either. :x

This sounds right. You'd basically just be emphasizing the more recent months and diluting the impact of the earliest ones. There's probably a nicer way to put that concept to mathematics, though.
 
Why does my toenail on my smallest toe not seem to grow? It's like they grow in a pace relative to their size, with the smallest just not being able to do it.

I dunno, but former member Snowman Prophet of Doom came to mind. Said username is 23 characters, which happens to be the same length as your potential moniker.

a lot of what I'm doing is ineffective unfortunately I've forgotten how to work logically through math problems.

No, it isn't a question in a book or anything, just something I'm personally working on for work. I was leaning toward it telling me nothing as well before I posed the question here.

Yeah, I guess that's it. It's either some weighted average six month change or it's a useless average to find. thanks you all, don't know where I lost my way with math.
 
Why is it, that when I turn on my receiver and start up any of the devices I don't get an image. It just says "No Signal" on my TV. I guess a HDMI cable would be loose but their not.
 
Here's a silly one; if electrons and protons and neutrons are just electric charges how come we're not glowing luminous beings made of sparks?

There's still sound when the PS3 starts up. It have done it before and suddenly started working again but now it's doing this No Signal thing again. It can't have went bad, it's just a year old or something.

Usually atoms have the same number of electrons as protons. Their charge strength is the same ... just opposite.

You only see sparks when the charges are different (an excess amount of electrons usually) in the form of static electricity when you make those electrons move from one surface to another ... otherwise they are just doing their orbiting thing not doing much.

Don't take a too long name, it screws up the forum formatting and it's really annoying.

I received a con email passing itself for a bank as I discovered when I opened to see what it was.

Is it possible just opening and reading the email can send me a virus?

Probably not. Generally these emails are aimed at phishing rather than viruses.
