Why do you think that? just because of Killzone?

From the one's shown so far I'm just excited about KZ,I don't need to buy a PS4 for Watch Dogs.

KZ looks great but there are some other rumored titles from 3rd party and 1st that could be really unprecedented as far as quantity and quality is concerned. The extra time Sony put into getting devs up to speed on the system is really paying off.

Sorry... based on the backlash, it's obvious a lot of you loved Resistance. IMO that game was a letdown (just like the rest of the PS3 launch titles). At the end of the day i enjoyed the Killzone series far more than i enjoyed the Resistance series (on the PS3)... and ultimately i'm very excited that KZSF is a PS4 launch title.

I think we are all PS4 & KZ supporters... my apologies for not liking Resistance.
Now IDK if you're joking as everyone has preferences but this game isn't out yet so we don't know if it'll blow away R1 for sure, going by the previous KZ games it probably will.

Bit off topic but the launch line-up could be stupendously good as KZ and Watchdogs are confirmed as launch titles and DriveClub looks very likely.

I think a lot of people are underestimating DriveClub. This is a game that has been in development for years and is rumoured to have the ex-Bizarre guys in the dev team working on it.

I can understand why as the footage shown on the 20th wasn't a very effective teaser. This game could be a real killer app though, especially in Europe.

I'm convinced it'll shift consoles.

Hell yeah. Ok, I'm making that into a series of wallpapers for my Vita.

What the hell is up TotalHalibut, he's all emotional and shit. lmao

I've always hated that guy, He takes a completely self-entitled and deconstructive approach to every issue that he talks about.

I'm pretty sure I saw many colors in that trailer, and to still be bitching about O/B is proof that you have a stick so far up your ass it's rupturing your optical nerves.

And what about the very beginning (that tune that lasts up until he is escorted away by the single soldier on landing pad)? It had a blade runner vibe.

yea that was good too :P

watching the trailer now at 1080p, wow the game looks clean!! What kind of aa are they using? This has to be MSAA!

The things that I am concerned with regarding KZSF are things I hope become answered or the questions are atleast presented to Guerrilla in some shape.

1.) Will Secondary Fire make a return- I'd say that for fans of the original KZ this was conspicously absent with the release of KZ2 although it had appeared in the teaser trailer but I know that I can't be the only one who is missing the M82-G of KZ or the StA-52 which had a secondary fire of an underbarrel mounted grendae launcher and shotgun respectively. I think as long as they find a way to balance it's weapons secondary fire in relation to the other weapons and the weapons primary fire, there should be no reason not to include it in the game. It would also serve to open other strategic avenues in the game and grant more player freedom in tackling various situations.

2. Will the game present the player with mini sandboxes or will it be even moreso linear- With KZ2, I felt that Guerrilla allowed the player more freedom when engaged in a battle as opposed to KZ3 which at times limited the sense of exploration or dynamic battles of KZ2. I'd like to see the games return to the form of KZ1 and KZ2 in this regard and there have already been glimpses of such direction. In the demo the player could have approached directly but the demonstrator opted to approach from the left flank. Since there will be more player freedom (hopefully) I'd like to see the vehicles sections be more akin to KZ2's tank sequence and not on rails as the vehicular section in KZ3. I'd love to take part in a dog fight over Vektan skies possibly attacking a giant quadrapedal mech approaching the wall, that would be a nice change of pace. Guerilla needs to defy convention and recreate an identity of their own

3. Is realism still a goal of the design team- KZ though drawing inspiration from hard-sci and set numerous years into the future is grounded mostly in realism and was one of the key goals of the previous games. Well will KZSF still convey that sense of reality? If there are different heights in cover that are right next to one another, will the player seamlessly adjust their positioning to further protect themselves? That's the kind of detail I'd like to see. Will the players character's head still bobble and will the weapons still sway as the player runs, will the weapons retain that sense of weight (not the input lag which KZ3 largely solved)? I think those were small touches that really brought KZ2/3 to life and I'd like to see them continue with that design principle. Would also like to see enemies and allies behave more realistically with A.I.s giving medical attention, sharing weapons and ammunition, pulling other wounded A.I.s from a firefight, fighting with cordination when a commander is present and falling into disarray when that said commander is killed, giving orders, throwing/kicking grenades back at the player, using smoke and flash grenades to disorient the player, making noise or drawing attention to get help and using gestures to keep the player from predicting their movements. That's next gen artificial intellignece to me and it needs to be present

4. Building off of the idea of realism, to make firefights more intense will there be destructible cover and evoultuion of the cover system- I love KZ's gameplay and was very happy to learn that for KZ2, the gameplay would be centered around cover. While I don't feel that it has grown tiresome, some things they can do to further prevent that feeling would be the addition of destructable cover. I know it was sparsely implemented in KZ2 but here I'd like to see it truly be a part of the experience. The player, npcs nor enemies should be able to sit behind cover as it is blanketed with bullets, instead the cover should decay (its rate dependent on the distance between the player and cover and the strength of the weapon in use and difficulty setting) forcing players to flee and find new shelter and continue the fight adding a new dynamic and sense of anxiety to every encounter. Also the gunplay has to grow as well. KZ2 at its realtime unveiling showed true blind fire and it was axed for the retail game. I want to see it implemented this time around and there are perfect situations to justify its addition; say for instance you are low on health and enemies are flanking and rushing you, if you stick your head up to take a shot you'll die so if we had true blind fire, we could suppress enemies and have them halt their attack and giving the player the time to heal or possibly kill some that continue to approach. It's balanced because you can't see when you're doing it. You'd only view the gun going over the cover fire and it'd be far less accurate unless enemies were close

5. Building a world with characters worth remembering- I know many who feel that KZ has an expansive, rich and deep backstory and yet none of this is ever found within the game itself. Why is there such a disconnect? Well with the story seemingly drawing inspiration from real life events (but what KZ hasn't besides possibly KZ3) with some identifying the Gaza Strip or the Berlin Wall. These are steps in the right direction and hopefully Lucas Kellar isn't just a silent assassin but some caught between a situation where there are no true evil or good entity but sides that use their people for their own gains and exhibit a grayness as opposed to being ends of a spectrum. Hopefully he comes to understand the Helghan plight and the UCA/VSA role in it but also understands their cause doesn't justify their actions

Well this post has gone on long enough but hopefully this gets people talking about something other than the tech and comparisons to other games and orients the discussion back to where it should be, the game itself.

Secondary fire was already shown. On my phone so I can't go into detail on your other points but the gun goes from full-auto with a holo-scope for ADS to a single-shot "power up" type scoped rifle. The powering up is dictated by the lines inside the scope.

Secondary fire is in - at least for the weapon shown.

Where did you find/get this?

Think twitter. TB is a huge PC gamer thought so take most of his opinions on console games with salt though.

Also take note that the tweet was during the live stream. So stream quality could have had a huge impact in his opinion.

Last tidbit, he drums up controversy for a reason. He makes his living from getting people to view his videos or at least interact with him on youtube. It's not flatout troll bait thought, just strong opinions that usually gets some camp to view his videos to let him know he sucks.

and the background and drops were very detailed, even the flowing water looked a step up.

The other game im looking forward to is Capcoms "Deep Down" simply because it look like an Action Rpg and i dont believe all of it was CGi. Either way it looked good.

He's always like that.

He's also wrong. Like for like comparisons show how Shadow Fall has higher complexity models and the like.

I'm not so sure he is wrong.

When you watch the CryEngine 3 dev videos, you realise that there is a lot in that engine. Technically, it is objectively better than what a lot of other games can produce. Many of these features are showcased in Crysis 3, and although they might not make a better game, they are technical feats nontheless.

Yeah I'm not 100% certain, but I remember being surprised for a second in the demo when he countersnipes the one Helghast without changing weapons.

That is true. But his favorite game of last year was a PS3 exclusive though.

Yeah, but having watched the podcasts, he's downplays console games quite alot. Although I won't say his opinions are unfounded though. Hell he's super critical on PC games. I doubt everyone in this thread will do research on him before bashing his opinion though, hence the broad statements I made :p

<Besides, he loves the Vita .. so can't hate :p>

Crysis 3 has shown me one thing. Games can only keep you entertained with their visuals for so long before the archaic gameplay becomes a killjoy. Sadly I can't really imagine a way to fix it, but FPSs has just become such a fatigued genre for me.

Still looking forward to KZ, as I really enjoy the universe of the games, but fuck me I would love if something 'new' is brought into the gameplay.

A spin off KZ in third person with a Warhawk PS3 template. I dream but then I wake up.

Forget something new, people need to do something old. Why are there no Half-Life clones? There was SiN episode, that's it. Where are the shooters that provide us an actual journey? A sense of scope beyond space ships exploding in a sky box?

GG are in a very special position, they're first party, and without the overbearing success of a Halo, etc, they can make something extraordinary, they don't have to fixate on spectacle.

Holy crap I would love that! Warhawk gameplay with the art and lore of KZ ... pitch that stuff to GG :p

I actually wanted to bring HL2 into my post, but decided against it :/
There's clear evidence that the genre is stagnating and it's sad, since the perspective could allow so much more! I honestly thought KZ2 will be exploring the importance of narrative more and it seemed like I would. But after the initial speech the game went into a cycle of shooty-shooty and terribad writing of the 'cast'.

No, no-- Killzone: XCOM

Turn based strategy management game, you are the commander of either the ISA or Helghast, research weaponry, build up air defense, colonize, assault bases, manage resources, and kill the enemy!

I'll take Crysis type game over Half Life 2 type game any day, everyday.

Although No One Lives Forever, Hexen or something like Republic Commando i would take with open arms over any other FPS.
Still Killzone 2 had great gameplay and i've enjoyed it greatly.

I can't wait to see BF4 on PS4. If the rumors of 1080p, 60fps, 64 players, and enhanced destruction are true it's going to be multiplayer bliss.
