Show us your gaming setup: 2013 Edition

Lol, I have been lurking these forums for years, always looking at the "New Setup!" thread, and this picture made me finally log in, because I audibly laughed out loud at now 2:30 am, because this picture has so much strangeness to it.

1.) the random firewood in corner.
2.) Decently new speakers, next to what looks like my grandmas old TV
3.) The chair in front that looks like it was meant for punishment or some kind of torturing.

Bravo my good man, bravo. I enjoyed this picture immensely

I'll try to post pics of mine sometime soon.

Nah. I adjusted quickly. Your FOV is surrounded by game graphics and is a very immersive experience...no time to think about bezels :p. Another sweet C3 shot from the setup:

O man, thats some glorious stuff! (on another note, do more games support a triple monitor set up?)

yeah this is creepy indeed lol *enter jigsaw voice* "We are going to play a game....every time you die in demon souls....you shall be raped with a log......."

Just moved it all around, and rewired everything. Feels good to have it clean and organized. Still need to get my Skyward Sword posters framed so I can fill in those white spaces, but otherwise finished.

Games and stuff (older generations are tucked neatly away elsewhere).

Most everything supports it. I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you're not playing an a triple monitor set up, I don't even know why people play on PCs at all. It elevates every single game to a whole other level, from FPS to RTS and strategy games. I'm playing Diablo 3 on triple monitors right now and it's a whole other game.

If I'm not playing on triple 24" monitors in my office, I'd rather be on the 70" in the media room on a console.

Those bezels kill it for me. If were to go with a non-standard resolution for games, it'd only be for something like this:

Anyway, putting together a new computer in the next week, so even though I'm moving out of this shithole in a few months, I figure I might as well snap some setup pics finally.

I kinda liked Fudoh's old Darius II setup. Kinda cool for a short bit. But, yeah, those bezels kill it. But, like anything, your eyes would eventually adapt, I guess.

Fudoh's the motherfuckin' man. That Darius II setup is sweet. Though I suppose it would be unfortunate when one realizes that Darius II and Ninja Warriors both kinda suck... oh well!

Cool to look at, at least.

That looks badass, but I´m hoping I can replicate this someday. I already located a local place that sells all kind of arcade CRT monitors, might start getting PCBs soon.

Whoa,

That looks like a cool-ass shop...the kind of electronics store I would see in the middle east as a kid!

EDIT: never mind...looks like somebody's gameroom (!)

Yeah I found that pic a couple of years ago in the shmups forum, can´t quite point out whose gameroom it was. Pretty badass.

Do the passanger windows annoy you when you drive?

When gaming on triple monitors, you are staring at the screen directly in front of you absolutely no different than you do now. The difference is immersion and being able to keep additional info like maps/inventory/mods/ect up full time and not disrupt your main viewing area. You can glance left or right in order to see a significantly larger area around you while still keeping the main view straight ahead. In something like Diablo3, I don't have to explore to an edge for a full reveal. I see monsters, loot, entrences, and events before anyone else. In Civ5, I can see 3x more than someone on a single screen. The advantages never end. Ask anyone than owns a triple monitor setup and they'll have similar experiences in a plethora of different games and genres. Flight sims, space sims, mech games, man it is all so much more amazing.

I probably mentioned it last time you posted it, but I really like that entertainment unit.

The problem however (with CIV 5 and almost every other game) is that the hud expands over all 3 screens as well. And to me it's annoying to move the cursor to the bottom right of the right screen to give a unit command, then move to the center screen to move the unit and finally move to the left side of the left screen to go somewhere else on the mini map.

Which is sadly why I have come to play strategy games on one screen again.

For FPS and some racers there are at least HUD fixes, where the whole HUD remains on the middle screen.

And then there are the games, that don't properly support ultra wide resolutions, be it by having a unusable main menu (blur) or by being vert- (Tropico 3 and a bunch of others that don't increase the field of view in width but cut off the vow in height). Which all together is just a sad state of affairs considering that it doesn't seem to be that hard for a developer to actually make a game work smoothly in surround screens.

That is fantastic. I can so see it happening. Would smarten up how you play i guess. The valley of defilement would be terrifying :(

Small update to the pc side of my setup
everyone's pictures are so nice, here are my crummy shots lol

edit: spoke too soon on the cpu clock
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE at 4.01ghz (testing)
AMD Radeon HD7950 at 1100/1425 (still playing around with this at the moment)

Cooler Master Hyper 212+ heatsink

And yes, my pc is on the floor sitting on a piece of tile sandwiched between my desk and bed lol

Nothing fancy.

I have more stuff in my closet(Gaming guides, Genesis, Dreamcast, xbox etc)

My gaming collection has grown a little since I first posted, so I took a few new pictures. My two main TV areas are kinda the same, so I didn't take pictures of them again.
Before: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=46690873&postcount=563

You can see my Virtual Boy on the top shelf along with SNES Super Scope receiver, N64 transfer pack and Game Boy Camera.
Next shelf has Master, Genesis, 32X and Sega CD games
2nd to top: Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation and Virtual Boy games in red DS cases to far right.
Then just my original Wii, 3DO, Playstation, and NES

FPd.jpeg

This one has certainly grown by a lot. All those NES games weren't even there last time. And I tripled my SNES collection. My Atari 2600 collection also has slightly grown. I also have CIB SNES games as well as a Super Scope again and Sim City 64DD.

TXe.jpeg

This was my TV from my college days and now resides in my bedroom. Mostly went unused until I switched out my SNES and hooked it up to the TV with a S-Video cable. I use the top drawer to stores whatever games I'm currently in the middle of playing. I also plan to possibly move my Sega Master System up here as well.

I love some of the very stylish setups, and some of the ones with a lot of memorabilia and art, and every year I'm tempted to copy them.

But in the end, I still prefer my practical, utilitarian setup. I moved late last year, but my setup in the new place is very close to my old one. Click and hold the quoted pictures to enlarge them, or just click for the really big versions:

The two PCs on the right are:
1. I7 2600k / GTX570 Windows 7 64-bit for current games
2. P3 733 / Voodoo 5 5500 / Windows 98 for old games and MAME

There's one more game rack out of view on the opposite wall with portable and Wii U games.

i love that you have Optimus prime right there.

I was thinking of creating a thread for it, but this may be the best spot.

Let's talk about camera placement (360/Durango kinect, Wii U sensor bar, PS3/PS4 eye - especially PS4 as it's very horizontal). How do you currently handle it and how do you plan to handle it when you have all 3 next gen consoles?

Also any recommendations with a set like mine (in OP), that both works functionally and looks good?

With TVs so thin now it is very hard to find a good place for the stuff. Plus, I like stuff below the TV. Cord on the PS Eye thingy is too thick so the damn thing does not stay positioned properly. Eventually I used double sided hobby tape (the kind used for adhering battery packs to graphite, very tacky and no residue) to stick it to the glass base of the TV. Then I stuck the Wii bar on top of that. Works great and is low profile. I really dislike the blue light on the PS Eye.

I've never been able to try my Kinect as I've lived in too small of places since it launched. It is in my closet.

This might not be the BEST place to post this query but it's at least appropriate.

Firstly bask in the ultimate glory of this impeccable setup. It's not mine though- I found it on tumblr. But it is gorgeous; imo the most flawless comfy pc setup i've ever seen.

Secondly, I've been searching for a table like this - to be used in this manner for EONS and if anybody has any idea where I could get one I would be thrilled.

If not simply enjoy the setup.

So it looks like my new media room will be 5 x 5 meters / 16 x 16 ft.

Starting to work on a plan. I think, this time, I will have my PC setup in the same room as my TV and try to create an all in one room.

some nice ones here...ive been detailing this classic game room/bar project in my head, and its gonna take years/mad $ but i'ma make it happen!

does anyone have pics from the old thread where this guy had a really baller basement (i wanna say) with a ton of great pinball machines? i remember thinking he had some great lighting, can't find the pics though.
