Fighting Games Weekly | March 4-10 | The Empire Strikes Black

Yooo. I get to sit in UMVC3 training mode tonight because I have major improving to do. What do you guys think I should practice?

strong criticism and honesty welcome!
X/X/Hidden Missiles.

Pick the top tier.

It's actually not that hard, it's just having all the cards, etc. is fucked up :/

Of course having to do it in training mode is a needless hassle too.
"Not that hard, just jump through these two incredibly annoying hoops!" :-P

Tron/Hsien-Ko/Shuma

Jk run your Doom/Ammy/Strider team, or whatever order you run it in. My favorite team of yours.

Don't succumb to the Vergil Legion pls, Clock.

Practice making tier lists and changing them every week. Get on twitch and stream, even when you're not at the house. Invite others much less experienced than you to play you for money online. Call out other players. Let others watch you play RPGs in the dark. Make a joke about EMP.

As a note, the characters I'm willing to practice right now are Strider + Doom (priority), Ammy, Phoenix, Vergil.

Get a stream and grind Strider already! :P

I'm hesitant to start a stream. I don't even know what I'd stream or if people would even watch. What are the best individual streams to check out? I watched Moons' stream last night (with 100 others) for the first time and ended up watching him decide who gets modded in his channel or not for 2+ hours. It was weird and riveting and useless and awesome.

Maybe besides Marvel, I can stream myself playing through Okami to rekindle my Ammy flame @__@

Switch Doom to Missiles for maximum profit.

I like missiles better than plasma beam, but isn't it a bit redundant to have missiles when I already have Vajra? For Vergil, seems like plasma beam really helps in situations where Vajra and missiles wouldn't. The Vergil/missiles combo is way good though (and difficult)

Dante / Doom / Strider.

I'd really like to learn this team but worried it might be too late for me to pick it up and be competitive for major events this year ;( maybe in the future

It's more a match up pick. You wouldn't pick Missiles against a Wolverine but against a Zero or Magneto you really want to pin them down and start your pressure with the Round Trip glitch. It's good to have practice against all of Doom's assists.

Dante/Doom/Strider is super good too and Jam Session is one of Doom's best assists.

Aqua's stream stops being fun and games and quickly turns into a saltmine when you mention SFxT.

Got banned for talking about SFxT huh?

Point Strider for those bad matchups.

There's no reason to run Phoenix with Strider, so either Ammy or Vergil. I think that based on your past mastery of Strider's lockdown, you should pursue Vergil-style lockdown by using the Round Trip glitch. It seems to be your style.

Not at all in my opinion. Vajra hits people to the ground, Hidden Missiles keeps them pinned. For Strider, I definitely think Plasma Beam is better, though.

Wise choice.

Just popping in for a minute for Clock. Then I'm gone again for a while. Self-ban.

Play Strider on point more and go for the Doom TAC infinite right off the bat. You get a character with better neutral options on point, kill the first character and you'll have 5 bars and Doom against an incoming character for your THC fun. I think your main team is already really good, you don't need to second-guess your character decisions or anything. This also solves Strider's Damage issues.

X-23 for the love god. X-23!

Strider/X-23/Doom works, but he'd have to learn a new character and retool all his strider combos to skip X-23 on the TAC attempt. I play Strider/X-23/Magneto which is really similar, and you can 100% guaranteed kill a whole team off of one hit with Strider and a TAC to Doom. But it's a whole new game, and he doesn't get to do the THC mixups anymore. If clock is really interested in X-23, though, I can explain the team composition. I figured out a lot of stuff lately, and I'm playing X-23 full time again. Also, I have better movement than A Pretty Panda now. Hold that, I'm the king of dashing.

Well here's some encouragement. The real hard parts of Dante combos are the Stinger xx Bold Cancel into whatever you like. Other than that I don't think his combos are that hard. Would be VERY difficult to practice online though.

The reason why I mentioned this team was because one of Finalroundbats's champion VX plays this team and it is proven to be incredible. It's good to have a team like this for a long term investment because Capcom definitely won't announce at PAX a (Dahbomb don't click this)
patch for UMvC3
in the future.

also willing to play jill, but could never figure out a decent bnb with her using doom and strider ;(

for you dudes on twitter, knives is actually spitting out some really good marvel tips right now

Hey Clock, why don't you play Iron Man? Being the scientist you are, I'm sure you could pump out that superior tech faster than improving characters with copious amounts of hair gel.

I don't think his team really gets anything from Iron Man over Doom.

Strider/Iron Man/Doom could be interesting, though.
