You like Samurai Shodown, too.Tekken, SF, VF, SC, GG, KOF and MK are the only ones I'll ever care about.
According to WatchMojo
This list seems to be kind of off imo. Smash? Hmmm….ok. No Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, Killer Instinct, Samurai Shodown anywhere on the list? If it wasn't for Virtua Fighter, there would probably be no 3D fighters so that definitely should have been up there the same way Street Fighter basically birthed 2D fighters.
Smash Bros has been at Evo more than some franchises on that list and the ones you list. It's a fighting game.A top 10 list from WatchMojo... and they think Smash Bros. is a fighting game....

Franchises can vary in quality and few are consistently impressive. Def Jam, Kengo, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, Under Night In-Birth, Injustice, Darkstalkers, and Dead or Alive are the only franchises I can think of that had no misses. I would not say any one of their games blew me away as much as individual fighting game releases without franchises or within franchises of varying quality.

They had Mario Kart at EVO. Most fighting game players were happy the hygiene averse legion got booted upon Nintendo's request.
Even the director of the franchise (Sakurai) says it's a party game and not a fighting game.

P.S. The reason its clones never went anywhere is that its crock of shit gameplay design is held up purely by fan service.

Call it what you want really. Smash Bros. is a platform fighting game and the biggest fighting tournament in the world featured it and Smash consistently brought in some of the most viewed matches across all it's years.
Mario Kart DS was only included because Toyota (who were a sponsor at the time) requested a racing game.
Then why Nintendo pulled it from EVO?Call it what you want really. Smash Bros. is a platform fighting game and the biggest fighting tournament in the world
Probably because Sony bought EVO and the thought of a competitor making bank on their IPs makes Nintendo's management's blood boil. Then why Nintendo pulled it from EVO?
There's their partnership with Global Panda, but I find it extremely stupid to do it.Probably because Sony bought EVO and the thought of a competitor making bank on their IPs makes Nintendo's management's blood boil.
People play Roblox competitively. It does not mean shit. Smash is not a fighting game.
Because Nintendo hates competitive Smash.. probably. They've never outright said the reason why but it can be a bunch of things. Then why Nintendo pulled it from EVO?
To give all the other low selling pitiful online player size fighting franchises a chance. If they're pulling decent numbers at EVO why pull the game from it?
