Why do people make a fuss about late term abortions? They're very rarely done, few doctors are trained to do it, and the few who are are extremely selective when it comes to the circumstances in which they'll do it.

Uh...that's really not a justification for increased termination of life.

Depends on how you define life or the parameters in which someone has to support a life other than their own. I'm guessing you're of the mind this happens at conception.

I am like this. I remember as a kid asking my mom why I wasn't considered 9 months older than my actual age because that's when I entered the world (even though I was still inside another human, I though of it like a kinder surprise egg. Even though that toy is inside the chocolate, it still exists in the world). Now I know better and understand the laws that define human and age, but that doesn't change my metaphysical belief of when I began existing.

sounds reasonable. too many people in general. 2 would be better though.

Your kidding right? We have no where near a sustainable population replacement rate and only make it by using immigration. We have no where near too many people in the first world.

sure it is and it isn't life. it's a good thing the US agrees on this as well and fundamentalists have no say

Well....biologically it is most definitely life.

I think that abortion is a necessary thing in a lot of circumstances. I think that if a woman is willing to abort an otherwise completely healthy child then I sure as hell don't want that woman being a parent.

I think that overall, abortions in the case of the mother's life being at stake, severe birth defects, rape, incest, etc are absolutely necessary if the mother wants it.

I also think that women who abort a completely healthy fetus that's out of the first trimester are complete pieces of shit...within the first 12 weeks is a gray area.

Please note that I'm not advocating for any sort of pro-life agenda here.....you won't read this part of the post but I feel like I should include it.

Who's implementing anything. Giving women the choice seems fair enough.
The idea of WANTING more abortions is repugnant to me. While there may be less unwanted children who may end up criminals there may also be less children who become upstading members of society. Wanting more abortions should never be something to hope for imo. If the only goal is to cut down on criminals there are other ways to do it that will cut down on even more potential criminals.

I think people who want to take a woman's choice to do what they want with their body in regards to pregnancy are complete pieces of shit so at least we agree people are pieces of shit.

Small Government my ass.

Government so big that it is micromanaging uterus's.

Government so big that they pass unconstitutional laws such that they will throw away government money trying to defend an obviously unconstitutional law.

And if they managed to pass this . . . the government would grow from the additional unwanted babies added to government healthcare programs and government welfare programs.

Go away, theocrats.

Technically those who want less restrictions want more abortions so *shrug.*

So you're completely OK with abortions until the baby/fetus exits the womb?

right? fucking pigs. lets see the fundies adopt the unwanted and abused children. fucking cunts won't

sure

They desire less restrictions which leads to more abortions, yes. That isnt the same as WANTING more abortions. Many are pro choice because they believe in the right of the woman to choose. That doesn't equal WANTING more abortions.

add more children to government plans so they can lose more money, and thus become much more powerful

the perfect plan

For you, I think it's best you don't make this decision for others. And I'm not just talking about the suffering endured by the baby with deformities either.

Playing devils advocate here, but unborn child can't make the choice of a potentially shitty life vs no life.

The choice should fall on the one it affects the most and no one else but since they don't have the capacity to make that decision we should err on the side of life, until they can make that decision.

Exactly, you can be against abortions but still support them in practice. I want the woman to be able to choose, but that doesn't mean I want more abortions. Ideally, 0 abortions would be nice, but I understand their necessity and the rights of the woman so I must put my personal wishes aside, since frankly, the decision has fuck all to do with me.

I'm ok with a 2nd and 3rd trimester abortion ban, barring exceptional circumstances.

I think that graph does a great job showing that women are being very responsible with their decisions. If they want an abortion they generally terminate the pregnancy early. The number of late-term abortions is tiny and they generally are only due to severe defects or health risks to the mother.

So why do we need to bring in additional layers of unnecessary government regulation?

as shameful as you guys who preach and shame but make no difference by actually caring for unwanted children. you reek of a disgusting aroma of hypocrisy.

Really? Us guys? You're really painting with a broad brush here. How can you assume that none of us care about the unwanted children? Those are two separate issues..

cuz they "care" about the children. won't someone (not them) take care of the children?

Lol you don't even know my stance or what I do. But have fun with your assumptions.

how many kids have you adopted? not enough, I'm sure. you too daw. you and yours haven't done shit so don't act like you have. it's pathetic that you guys act like you care and yet do absolutely nothing to fix it.

It is life. The question is if it is life which is deserving of any rights before birth. My opinion is no, it does not have any rights. Abortion should be free and legal.

right? fucking pigs. lets see the fundies adopt the unwanted and abused children. fucking cunts won't

a lot of hyper religious christians bring foster children into their homes. my step mom lived in one of these homes with a bunch of other kids and says it was the best time in her life

I love the fact that Republicans want you to keep the baby but hate the idea of paying money towards raising it.

It's a hard topic because there is no right answer. It depends on so many personal beliefs on so many topics. I think that in these cases, the people actually involved in the situation should legally have the final say, i.e the mother and father.

The thing I don't understand about this is if you are pro-life, then that is completely fine, no one forces you or anyone else, to receive the abortion. Heck, do all the campaigning you want, but don't force your views on anyone else. History (and countries which outlaw abortions) show us that abortions will be attempted regardless of legality, and in many cases of illegal abortions the mother and child will die.

Give women the choice, so the mother doesn't have to die. If you are personally against it, fine, don't do it.

Current 1st trimester laws seem more than fair. The fetus is so primitively developed at that point. By many definitions, its not even a proper fetus until near the end of the trimester.

Consider it a grace period where a person is allowed to choose whether or not they are prepared to take this life into the world and care for it. Its such a massive, massive responsibility and its not fair for the child to live in an environment where it is perhaps unwanted or not able to be cared for properly.

Its all well and easy to say that people should be responsible about sex, but we're not. We're just not and thats not going to change anytime soon. Its a primal instinct of ours and young people especially aren't going to have the grown up sense of responsibility to be careful about these things. Honestly, both potential parents and children are better off with the 1st trimester laws.

This is all basic stuff that has been repeated over and over again by countless others, but its true. I dont have a problem that somebody would be anti-abortion, but I have a problem when they dictate to others that their personal belief about it should be the universal one. The current abortion laws allow a level of freedom for both sides to exist, and I think its terrible that we should be taking a step backwards from this.

Well. To play devils advocate. That's similar to saying if you don't like slavery don't own slaves. They're fighting for unborn children.

Yes there is. Let women have control of what they do with their body.

Yet the vast majority want to close women's clinics and not universally supply birth control. Pro-life my fucking ass.
