Yeah he's reading GAF.

Even though I need Digital Foundry to tell me which version is graphically superior, I'm sure [insert console brand of choice] will be best!

Haha, poor Quatrich banked too much on that.
Worthless tweet, phosphor & i-Lo pretty much on the money.
Ryan's tweet doesn't sound like he's confirming anything, just commenting on the passive-aggressive formula for the console wars.
Yet, I wasnt the one wetting my panties. It was Quatrich. That was funny. People like phosphor & i-Lo were trying to bring some sense in here.Ryan's original tweet is pretty much aimed at posters like you. It's pretty funny.
+1It's pretty much nothing, but some are hoping and praying so they grab what they can.
This is all that I'm getting right now in this thread. It's pretty much nothing, but some are hoping and praying so they grab what they can.
no thats exactly the response to give if it was vice-versa. Xbox is going to be a beast. The guy that replied is from 343 Studios, I doubt he would reply that if the situation was stacked for the 'vice versa' version. There's a good chance those rumors are more or less it for 720 specs, I think.

...Sadly no, I banked nothing in it beyond the tweet
:lolHis first tweet was clearly alluding to information he is privy to.

Are you upset that Ryan posted the tweet both ways?

I'm not the one upset about others speculating about a tweet. You're the one policing the thread trying to knock down any sort of speculation activity...but seeing your avatar, it seems this console war thing is consuming you emotionally.
he is independent now, working on a some stealth game for mobile devices.
@ryanpayton system specs stopped mattering *last* generation.

And no, I have the avatar only because it's funny and others have found it funny. I cant do anything if you are sensitive to it or try to extract your own bias.
It's like I need to gloss over half the posts to get to something that resembles discussion lately. If this is how it already is when we're simply discussing specs, I dread what GAF is gonna be like when both consoles release
This thread will be officially linked in new dictionaries as the definition of 'grasping at straws'![]()

He's neutral and probably wont publicly admit any bias (that you are implying) he has. But yeah, thanks for bringing back dual-APU in this thread. So, maybe Ryan is a slightly disgruntled ex MS employee now. Not an uncommon feeling for MS workers.
The longer they are silent, the more truth there is that the leaked specs are true. All of the loud mouths in MS PR would at least say something. UNLESS, they are not going to make their launch date.
Or, Ryan is stealth confirming the dual APU, always kinect/metro beast. Live tiles of real time game videos. Jets of secret sauce.

Time to fly back from Seattle. Stay locked to The Verge early next week. That's all I'm saying.
That tweet was from Tom Warren of the Verge who focuses on Microsoft products. Could be anything, but who knows, maybe Xbox related.
Things will get better once the systems are actually out. Even if there are fanboy arguments at least there will be actual games on the market that can be used as a basis for comparison so some real discussion can happen. The fanboy BS will die out a couple years in. I didn't see it much at all this gen on GAF since the gen was so long. No one cared after a while, it just became about the games again.
Next week? Maybe VGLeaks can beat them to the punch.Time to fly back from Seattle. Stay locked to The Verge early next week. That's all I'm saying.

To me this seems like downplaying the importance of specs... maybe because the Xbox 3 is less powerful than the PS4?
When do you think NDA's about hardware will stop? Because ideally I'd want a developer to compare the two kind of like how Carmack did previously.
Although to be fair that may be because the question of which console was more powerful between 360 and PS3 was debatable since they had different strengths and weaknesses. Assuming rumours are true, it might be unnecessary since it'll be a bit more cut and dry in PS4's favour

Bingo, last page was hilarious.
Yup, will be an interesting proposition.Yes this is getting really silly now. I think a bigger factor that is a complete unknown is the fact that 2 rival consoles will launch very close to each other for the first time. How will consumers react?
I think this will be a bigger factor than power. I dread the possible shit talk from Sony/Microsoft in their advertising...I hope I'm wrong.
But the Durango does have more RAM

Could be, still some chance that we get some new info.It could be anything. Probably some Blue shit. The Verge love that.
Dude, you dont get it. Clearly, Ryan's first tweet was alluding to information he is privy to. *WINK*I'm not sure why you're including Yoshida in this discussion.
Yoshida flat out said that thinking that PS4 would be comparable or even less powerful than Wii U was a pipe dream. He was not trolling, hinting, teasing anything. He gave a straight answer: you're crazy (dreaming) if you think that PS4 won't be much more powerful than WiiU.
Ryan Payton with his tweets is just calling out an attitude. He's calling out those people who act like their lives depend on which one comes out ahead, those who need websites like DF to tell them which version looks better otherwise they wouldn't even be able to notice differences by themselves (considering how irrelevant they are).
So it's ironic that not only his message wasn't understood but it was totally twisted into "omg, he's giving a hint about who's going to be moew powerful, omg!!".
Yep seems to be the sentiment to take on if your competitor has an advantage. He has a case though, look at the wii.
I missed this, is there a link to the conversation?I thought the tweets from both of them were jokes. They all sound like random quotes from invested forum fanboys. So they were serious? If so that was the weirdest exchange between professionals that I've ever seen, lol!

Ryan Payton probably does not have access to any nextgen devkits as he is developing an iOS game right now. So not sure why he did make such a comment, when he probably knows not much more about those consoles than us. But the other guy, Scott Warner, works for 343 industries.

I'm pretty sure he had access to devkits while working on Halo4. Not to mention his insider contacts.
Or maybe he means just what he said because the ps3 did have higher specs than 360 and that didn't mattered as they both were pretty much equals in terms of power.
