Nobody to pass the popcorn to. Nobody to elbow when the really cool or funny part happens. And most importantly, nobody to talk about the movie with on the drive home.

Going to the movies with people is the worst. It's much better to go when I want, not wait for someone to go get food, then sit in seats that are two close together and get elbowed during the movie because something funny happens?

I agree about the talking to after the fact, but that rarely happens for more than "remember that that part when that happened?" "Yeah, that was crazy."

It's not something id recommend doing on a Friday night but If you've got time to kill there's nothing wrong with it. I did it the other weekend while my car was getting fixed since the car place is attached to the mall. Better than getting someone to drive me home for 30 min

I don't normally go to real restaurants anymore since I've been single but I wouldn't feel weird unless it was a fine dining establishment.

I go to Panera all the time alone. Get a coffee and a sandwich put on some headphones listen to music and browse gaf.



I guess the problem with restaurants is that I do look at them as a place to take your family and have an experience moreso than just because you're hungry.


Movies I have zero problems going alone.


I wouldn't want to go to an amusement park alone though. That wouldn't be any fun.

If I'm by myself, I'd rather eat at home/school/work, so I usually go to a carry out place and bring food back to eat.

The exception is when I am going to the train, but then I only buy one or two quick pizza slices, or a sandwich which I may take with me on the train, anyway.

I do this pretty much every single day. I love it. I'm a huge introvert though so I doubt it's for everyone. I typically listen to podcasts while I eat and/or surf GAF.

There are advantages also. If you become a regular at certain places, they'll know you by name, your favorite dishes, etc.

Like going out to a fancy sit down restaurant where a waiter/waitress comes over to take your order? No, I don't.

But pizza shops/ Panda Express/ holes in the wall? Who doesn't stop in and sit down if they dont feel like getting it to go? Almost everyone I see in those places are by themselves. I do it all the time.

Usually when I'm eating somewhere other than home, it's because home is too far away and I happen to be hungry. Should I call someone every time I get hungry and make sure they eat with me so I don't look like a sad loser?

I did it when I was in Montreal because the culture of eating there is different and there's no judgement of why said person is eating alone. People need to eat and people enjoy food.

I sat on the terrace and enjoyed my meal and was there for about 2 hours just sipping my cocktail and people watching.

Here in USA though, I feel like eating is an inherent and expected social outing and so there's this "why are they alone" judgement whenever you see someone by themselves.
