I've owned Odama for a really long time but never got around to playing it back in the day. Recently I picked up Aeroporter on the 3DS eshop and remembered that it was also made by Yoot Saito so I wanted to go back and check out Odama. What a weird, weird game. Combining pinball with strategy elements, not to mention the voice commands, isn't something I ever thought would be combined into a video game, but if anyone were to make it, it would be Saito. It's really interesting how you have to multi-task by playing a game of pinball while also managing your troops and tilting the stage with the analog stick like in Super Monkey Ball, all while trying to complete different objectives during each stage. Everything just gets super hectic and crazy.
I really like the concept of Odama and I actually enjoy the game but there is a few things that could be improved upon. The game is very hard and there aren't a whole lot of stages. The voice commands also don't work all the time which is kind of frustrating. It's too bad we'll almost certainly never see a follow up to the game as I think a sequel could improve on a lot of the faults the original has.
For some reason I also decided to do a review of this game. If you still can't imagine how the game plays or what it's about check this out I guess:
