NPD Sales Results for February 2013 [Up5: Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Official PS3/WiiU]

People are likely STILL returning Wii Us. We shall never know...

I'm kinda hoping we do get that new data morsel we supposedly got last month out of last month's NPD wrap up. How many returned WiiU's did it take to offset a larger number? 20k to reach Pachter's 80?

If Wii U only sold 80K, and the Nintendo Ecosystem hit 445K, what the hell did the others do? That's not a small number, that's a large number? Why is the Wii still selling!?

Sometimes I lay in my bed at night for hours unable to sleep because I know there are gafers who actually bought Aliens. I'm not looking forward to tonight..

Wii U continues to be Krillin. No surprise there.

Vita continues to fail. Again, no surprise there.

Sly 4 sales are good and certainly not below expectation. I think a LTD of 1+ million is assured now which will be a very good result for Sanzaru. Also, for people in disbelief at how it charted; to give you some perspective, The Sly Collection was very profitable and wasn't far off from the million mark worldwide. It certainly didn't get much advertising either. Overall, I think the "PS3 Sly Project" will be considered a good success. I also wouldn't rule out a future Sly game.

Metal Gear Rising is a bit disappointing to be honest. I think it'll end up around 1.5-2 million LTD at best. I'd have hoped for around 3 million considering it had the Metal Gear name attached. I don't know what it is, but Platinum just can't create a big hit, even with such a huge franchise to help. Then again, there is the Europe factor so it's probably not best to count it out just yet, but I hoped it would have stronger NPD sales.

God of War will outsell Gears next month.

God of War fans actually seemed legitimately hyped, albeit not as much as a main release, for it. Nobody seems to give a shit about Judgment at all.

Nah.

They are pretty close in Preorder sales, but the real big game for the 360 is Bioshock: Infinite.

If God of War:A wins between the 2 it'll be extrememly close.

But, the real hit for the 360 will be Bioshock: Infinite.

Similar to Mass Effect & Elder Scroll, the biggest Bioshock fanbase is on the 360, as that's where the franchise originated and was first made popular in the console world.

I'm surprised at Sly's appearance on the chart. Do Sony's cross-buy games count for 2 copies sold (similar to a double cd album counting as 2 copies sold)?

Great too see Sly 4 Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time do well. Heck it did better than PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale despite having no advertising, at least PSBR had some ads for it. Bring on Sly PS4!

No. Cross-Buy for retail is that you get a digital copy of the Vita version. NPD doesn't track digital sales.

Iwata must be ecstatic. He wanted a system with very low power draw because you know that's what gamers care about. Not only did he achieve his goal but with the numbers wiiu is pulling the overall environmental impact is tiny. Huge success, give yourself a pat on the back.

Brilliant, simply brilliant.

Are you getting these numbers from the banned site?

64 - 80k is still twice or three times what some gaffers expected . Take a look at the predictions thread.

Lowered expectations maybe but after 57k in jan , I was thinking 25-35 k might happen with no new games released.

I expect that the game sold well to casual gamers. I know a couple people that aren't big into gaming, knew the reviews were poor, but bought it anyway because they like the franchise. the familiar gameplay probably didn't hurt either.

great FE:A sales, though it actually got a good advertising push from Nintendo.

It's cheap.
Rednecks like to have that Nintendo box for the Netflix, Mario Kart, Wii Sports Bowling and Just Dance 4.
Only requires standard definition so it still looks good on their CRT televisions in their trailers.
Wal-Mart.

Plenty of good reasons.

That 80k is not in the equation. Its 64-68 at most. And thats bad.

Wouldn't that be the first million seller in the history of the franchise? Huge success for Nintendo.

Much deserved. Brilliant game. I will probably start looking into playing some of the older games since Awakening is all I've played.

Cutoff was 8 p.m. EST, but did go back and change Strike's 3DS number. Have made changes to predictions before when it was like an order of magnitude off and looked like an oversight (e.g. predicting 2.5 million with 250,0000 with rest of predictions being reasonable), so since he posted about adding the missing '1' shortly after the cutoff, went ahead and included it.

NeoGAF Aggregate Predictions - Feb-2013

Like I said if Wii U did 64-80k it's still not that great.

Nintendo really needs to start pushing the marketing teams and pushing third party's to release games on Wii U.

Maybe upgrade the White Wii U SKU to have all the same features of the black one and do a price cut on the black Wii U so both can be $300.
