I don't really think KH's story gets crazy until after KH1. At least, for me, where they start to lose me is when the Organization dudes are introduced.

I was able to keep track of the series' complexity though.

I guess it's thanks to trying to follow Chrono Cross and Xenosaga's stories.

Hollow Bastion is an original world, yes. It's not Beast's castle.

Organization XIII isn't that bad story-wise in and of itself. It's when they unnecessarily start diving into the backstory of Organization XIII that things go bananas.

That's from KH1, second to last world. Honestly I don't think you can find it confusing at all in KH1 if you follow the story.

The first Kingdom Hearts game had a fantastic story, but the plot became nonsensical once characters like Roxas were introduced. I shouldn't have to consult a 30-page tumblr account to figure out what's going on.

It's a kids game so yes it makes it kiddy, the story doesn't it help it either. However it has a lot of charm and great gameplay. It being "kiddy" shouldn't discourage you to try it.

Hollow bastion is the best world in KH1 by far. Not only the music but the story elements are great

Yeah this is probably true, I remember liking the voice acting 10 years ago but it's probably hard to make "You may no longer be who you are now" work in any context.

It's the other way around for me: I believe that KHIII will be what brings Utada out of retirement.

I think Gallagher's performance in re:CoM, both as Riku and the replica, is really good. With the exception of one word (The way he says "SORA!" before a fight once)

I'm not sure if I want to play this now, or wait till we get the next collection and even a loose timeframe for KH3. As much as a mess the story might be, it'd be even moreso if I wasn't on top of it.
