Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

When will y'all realize that physical media is the only way to guarantee that you will always have your content. Who says that you'll always have that digital content promised to you in the future?? It could be here today, gone tommorrow. Its as easy as switchibg a light and your $1000 dollar digital investment is gone. Take heed

EDIT: Ill quote the post I responded to later. Gah, always refresh before you post

I better cower in fear of my 700 game Steam collection going POOF! o_O

By the time that happens the system(s) or I will be dead.

I don't know if someone saw this, but... TERRARIA could be announced for Vita next week...

I hope it is soon... april, maybe...

Well, that makes it easier: Continues count for the kills in Sigma Plus.

Kitetsu done. Leaves the Lunar and then spamming Ninpo, finding the last Scarab and finishing the game.

And then replaying it sometime later on for ambushes and Very Hard/Master Ninja modes

Speaking of Ad-Hoc Party: It doesn't work with PSP2 titles. WTF, Tecmo/Capcom: You expect me to find another person that owns the system in real-life and owns a copy of DOA5+ and Street vs Juggle, really?

So would I, which is why it's probably not coming to the Vita. Ugh.

Check the reddit post above, pretty much seems like a very likely chance to come eventually .... not to mention that almost every tweet 505 or redigit makes is followed by a vocal group of people asking for it to come to vita

Damn P4G is sooo damn good. I can't put it down. Game is robust as fuck.

Also, fuck The Reaper. The fucker came out of nowhere (kinda).

Oh my all of my hypes! Hope Terraria or Starbound make their way to Vita.

EDIT: Whoa Walking Dead is coming to Vita. Good deal.

Since we can make backups of our digital content it's actually more reliable than the physical media.

Also, I bought games to play them now, I don't really care about them 15 years in the future.

What makes you think that will or could happen?

How about the PSN Outage? I wasn't using PSN that month so I'm not too knowledgeable on it, but I imagine you couldn't download anything you hadn't backed up prior. Especially awful would be if this applied to resetting your vita, where it would possibly lock you out of your memory card with an inability to login..

Or Licensing issues. Games every so often get removed from the store and can no longer be purchased. While it's not an issue for those who had bought it, the fact that games can become permanently unavailable is definitely a downside compared to physical media with a second-hand market.

Lastly, longevity. Will Sony be around forever? Physical media will easily last 25 years from now, who knows if the servers will be.

The bit of glee I get from fiddling with a case I pull out from my shelf is priceless though :)

Bar the house burning down I think they'll be okay. I'm not one of those nuts who carries all the games I have in a case, nor would I let anybody in my bedroom. The house would have to be underwater for them to flood, which would only really affect the cases, the carts themselves I imagine would work.

You really think most people keep their games for 25 years... XD

I like digital download games on PSN or Steam.

If only I could have a 2TB hard drive on my next PS4...

By the way, I have 30 physical games and... almost 200 hundred digital on PS3... XD

Don't Sony servers need to be up in order to move those backups back onto the Vita? I know an internet connection is required for content manager, but don't know how it all works.

Yep, but there is cracked/hacked version of the Content Manager. It works to transfer files without being connected to the internet.

Will it? What if it deteriorates. Or gets lost, or stolen. Or set on fire, or caught in the middle of a flood.

This is true. But I guess my warning is about forsaking your personal control of content for a simple convenience. A poster a few pages back made a joke about how switching carts is too much work. Seriously? (I know its a joke)

For some reason it seems like I'm the only who feels a little uncomfortable about paying for digital 1s and 0s. And Ive done it before but it seems like its invading the majority of how content is actually delivered to us and will soon replace even getting to have anything in our hands.

I don't want to be paying for things in world where I don't even get to hold what I just bought in my hands. Doesn't that make yall seem a little wary? I know a company doesn't give a damn about me, just my wallet. So why would I let them gain the upper hand of the deal?

Yes, they aren't shutting servers down or pulling games of the service. Yet. But stuff like that isn't guaranteed not to happen just like a fire, a flood, getting lost, or getting stolen.

FYI I think Vita Digital Service is top tier along with steam. Just my 2 cents to provoke discussion. Shit, My name is DigitalOp lol

The Vita (train) is slowing being a Maglev :D
I like how this is turning out.

(and that means the wallet is gonna suffer)

EDIT: we need a Vita ambassador programmeeeeee

I need to start posting in here more because my Vita has been the P4G machine for a while. I have more games but I can't put P4G down lol.

I just fought the Reaper after Rise's insistence to not open the chest he was hiding in. At the start of the battle I scanned him and Rise said that this shadow was "weak" and "no problem." I kicked his ass in 5 minutes.

A tweet from Shahid in the last day or so:

Recently, Hotline Miami, Lone Survivor and Thomas Was Alone. Yesterday Luftrausers. Today, Unity. Next week? ;-)

The Terraria publishers did say 'wait until next week'...

Excited about these games!

Controls could be better than console because of the touchscreen, but it can also be worse because of the smaller screen size.

I don't know why people constantly say this - you hold the screen much closer to you, so it's about the same size, unless you have an absolutely giant TV or monitor.

Seriously, take your Vita and hold it up where you normally would and see how much of your computer screen you can see. It completely blocks mine out, and I think it's 20"

Some of us hold it at least 3 feet away from us.
